I really didn't know what to expect when my entourage of four guys and me decided to come here on a Wednesday night. Â Upon entering, a couple was already on stage belting out to some oldie mandarin song..the expression on the face of one of my friends' British friend's face (do you follow) was classic..We were seated in a very comfortable booth and was promptly served beer..and then..more beer and then chicken wings (they were BOMB) and more beer while people were singing songs in Mandarin and Cantonese. Â It was pretty awesome. Â The room is pretty dark and chill and the bathroom is clean (always a plus). Â I would not mind coming here again, when visiting LA..
Review Source:this place is one of my favorites! I come here all the time to just grab a drink and eat...the staff is super friendly and accommodating. The ambiance is nice here and there is karaoke every single night!! this place will always be my go to place if i ever want to just chill and relax
Review Source:This is an OK public karaoke joint. Â It is a hole in the wall, hidden place situated on the upper level of some building...Wells Fargo? Â First to the miscellaneous topics: Drinks are average price, what you'd expect from most places. Â However, you might want to just opt for bottled beers because they can't cheat you on that like they did the gin and tonic (although the AMF was okay). Â Food here, mainly snacks, are pretty good as it goes well with the beer.
As far as the main idea of this joint, the karaoke, it is a nice setup. Â There are two connected mics, on a small stage with a large television adjacent to it. Â The singing can get pretty loud. Â The decor is dimly lit with lounge-like booths, regular tables, and a bar. Â Lastly, the crowd is small, as with most public karaoke locations. Â If you're in the mood to sing, this place is ideal because of its location and not-over-the-top prices you'd pay to sing for elsewhere at a regular karaoke place.
This is like hong kong club in middle of alhambra, Yup my people's have taken over.
"All you base has belong to us"
Enough trolling.
If you want to get your drink on come here. It's a nice place to chill. It's like a lounge. Lots of cantonese was being spoken and mandarin.
Yeah my friends told me about it. It's a bar, and karaoke place. The crowd is 30+.
I wanted to leave so bad because the other customers sung so bad. Lols.
I like this place when I want to just catch a drink and chat with my friends while I'm over in SGV. Â Most of the time this place is pretty dead and the old guy Jim who's ALWAYS there is assaulting every patron and employee's ear drums with his singing. Â
It's a no frills place for me honestly, all the employees are nice and make the drinks to your satisfaction. Â We always order the fish balls with the basil and edamame. Â A place I like to go to just to hang out and not necessarily get all dolled up.
Not bad place if you want karaoke in a cozy set up. Â The sound system isn't that great, you has to sing quite loud in karaoke. Â No billiards or darts. is not a big place.
You can order snacks food, some are pretty good like the beef short ribs which definite worth $5 and the green peas is $4, the dry squid tasted great but is small portion and cost $9.
English songs selection is poor, not too many choose lack most modern day songs. And the video isn't from official music video, the Chinese one is from the official source. No Japanese or Spanish song selection.
I gave this a 3 stars not bad but is not great. Â definite a mediocre place. No fancy drink here just typical beer and wine.
I come to be alone on the weekends to get drunk without the interruptions of friend drama. Ahh.. yes.. like a cheap vacation..
Parking is an ease here. It's located upstairs and you will see a security at the door. He checks for ID and through purses with a fancy metal detector. *beep beep* They do have an elevator for handicapped fellows so that's a plus (:
Now the important part: Alcohol. They do serve beer and liquor. Last time I checked, beer was 2 for $8, but I think they might have raised it. House vodka was $8/shot and Grey Goose and other good stuff is $10/shot. Yes, it may be a bit pricey but super friendly people here.
There is an open karaoke so it might get weird or super fun! No one there will boo you off stage (no matter how terrible you may sound, we learned to coupe by getting more drunk). Oh yeah, it's pretty dark so no one will see you anyways.
Comfy, spinning chairs at the booths or sit at the knights of the round table with the "bartender"? I guess that's what you would call her. She pours the drinks so why not. Very nice Asian lady.. she also enters the songs for you for the karaoke!
I like this place so I don't care what you guys say (: I prefer this place to be exclusive anyways.. so don't come. It sucks. Totally.
P.S. DON'T TIP BEFORE YOU CHECK YOUR TAB! They add it on automatically sometimes.. sneaky sneaky.
Prices are way too high. They try to make it seem like a lounge when really it's just a dive bar. If you're going to have bottle service and charge $5 a beer, please at least have an upscale atmosphere. Service is friendly and helpful. The on stage karaoke is a fun service. The security was weak. We all got in with our keys and all those metal strapped on our belts etc without a beep.
The whole experience was OK. It was more of who you're with that made the night fun. De Club as a whole, was just below average. Try it but don't expect much, except a pricey tab.
This place is good cuz i'm local and close to home. It's a good place to sing your heart out but it's pretty much open mic. However, although open mic, there's not TOO many ppl who are here and they wont boo you so no worries. The last time I went the drinks were pricey. It's a good place to chill, drink and sing. Pretty cool environment to go with your friends.. :)
Review Source:I've been here twice and it is pretty cool.
I had a party here one time and it was a lot of fun, chill.
There is a 2 drink minimum per person and they give you some random snacks sometimes like popcorn and chips.
It's mostly a Chinese crowd and they love Chinese music. Â We had a lot of people for our party and everyone sang English songs and the song lady who sticks the music into the machine was getting bored.
They have a bar where people play poker and drink.
Lots of parking outside.
Not pretentious and it's pretty big. Â The place is upstairs.
This place does have all sorts of food to order. Â
Just the best vibe at this place; everyone that go there seem chill. Â The owners are just the friendiest ever. Â I went on a weekday and just talk stories with them for over an hour. Â
Even on a busy weekend night, one of the owners took time to teach us how to play the dice drinking game. Â She came back 3-4 times to see if we learned it. Â I love this place. Â No this isn't some modern hip club; but it is a place where you'll feel welcome. Â
Note to owners... update the karaoke booklets please(!) It'd make this place perfect.
how could i have forgotten to yelp this place? i've been visiting this lil hole in the wall for at least 4years now. it's often referred to as "passions". don't ask my why but that was the name of the place a few years back. now, it's DE CLUB. anyways, this place is above a tofu house resturant. there isn't ever any fee to get in. it's got pretty amazing kareoke and is real chill. people come to have drinks, sing and play cards. last night, walter and i met up with some friends here. their food menu has improved. they have pretty good wing tips and this beef thing that is amazing. i forgot what the beef thing was called but it's like cubes/chunks of fillet mignon with onions, tons of black pepper and bell peppers. it's so tasty. i'm pretty sure ours had jalapenos in it too. anyways, it's real tasty and very inexpensive. each dish was about $5.00. you can't beat that. just FYI, if you have a few beers here, each order is $8.00. damn! that's expensive, you say?!?! this is why. my pal peter, explained to me, order 1 beer and you get 2. so it is really $4 per bottle. why they do it that way i have no idea. but, that's what it is. so, remember...if you order a round of beers for 8 people, you'll end up with 16 bottles in front of you. each bottle is $4 a pop. ok?!?! got it. so no surprises. lol. this used to be a place where they allowed smoking in the main lounge area. that is no longer. yippee!! bathrooms are nice and clean and the people who work here are fairly friendly. i know that they don't mean or intend to have some sort of a snotty attitude but...it's part of the way that the chinese folks here speak. it sounds like they're mean but really they aren't. you know what i mean. ok well, have a fun time. kareoke is a blast with a group. try it if you haven't already.
