San Gabriel Mission Playhouse

Such a beautiful, historic and quaint little theater. I love the architecture and the ceiling inside is absolutely stunning! Such thought, time and detail was obviously put into the interior of this theater. It's amazing that this relic has survived since 1927. The seats are also very comfy, and I don't think it's possible there is a bad seat in the whole place. I felt transported back to a time and place long ago. I look forward to seeing another show there in the future.

I am a fan of almost any old Art Deco theater with comfortable seating.  It transports you to another era when theater was the main form of entertainment for the well-to-do.  If you were the other 99%, you kicked rocks and played with tree branches.

We came here to an evening of Chinese folk dancing.  One of things I like to do in venues like this is to look up at the ceilings.  The interior was very beautiful - ceiling, light fixtures, ornaments, archways and columns.  The sound was pretty good and the seats were not too bad.  My husband who is 6'2 felt the seats a bit cramped, but I guess we spoil ourselves with stadium seating in state of the art movie theaters nowadays. You definitely feel like you're stepping back in time and get a true sense of local history walking in and out of the theater.
