I love their sandwiches :) trying to go down the line but pastrami is still my fave. They have a pretty decent beer selection as well.

I would give this place 5-stars, but the garlic fries that everyone raves about aren't that great. I swear they're just the fries from Costco that you oven D: and mine came out cold still. Like.. wtf?

This a great Mom and Pop Deli/ Pub. They have cheap daily deals and their a Turkey, Bacon and Avocado sandwich is the way to go. This is a nice place to go for lunch or evening to eat and have a drink. They have a variety of beers on tap and plenty of tvs to watch a game. Thier friendly service and good sandwiches keep me coming back.

Love this place!  They make a great Turkey, Avocado & Bacon.  The sandwiches are big and the service is always friendly.  The atmosphere is nice in that it's a sports bar without feeling like a bar.  I have no problem bringing my kids in for dinner, and enjoying a beer and a game on one of the tv's at the same time.  The beer selection is great, always something new on tap.  The kids like the free wi-fi!

I highly recommend this mom and pop restaurant.

Great little neighborhood bar and sandwich place.

    Highlights:

    - Great beer selection
    - Garlic fries
    - Lots of TVs without feeling like a sports bar (the better to convince your gf there on a Saturday afternoon)
    - Friendly service, hometown atmosphere

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and support places like this instead of going to Subway.

    AKA "Gas & Sip"
Conveniently located next to the grocery store is the ideal excuse to bail with your facorite family member when the holidays briing them flocking.  You should be fighting to be the grocery getter!
Shelly is amazing and always has a smile.  The food is good but the service is what keeps us coming back.  Kid friendly to boot!  All around thumbs up!

Been here for drinks before but never for a meal. Finally dropped by for lunch at this friendly, neighborhood bar. Beer was cold, glasses were chilled, and the mushroom swiss was quite yummy. The garlic fries were not that bad either. A pitcher of beer was a bit pricey at $16 though. At least there was a decent selection of beers on tap. Service was friendly and quick even if there were only two employees running the place.

Quite the busy place even on a Sunday as multiple team meetings (it for the Little League Baseball this time) kept on cycling through the door. Restrooms (a.k.a. storage room) could use a makeover though. Still, not a bad place to catch a quick drink or hang out.

love this place. great little environment, and they make a mean turkey club and philly cheesesteak sandwiches. They have a good beer selection, and you can be entertained for a while just looking at their wall decor. I recommend this place to whoever is looking for a quick stop to get a good sandwich.

Located in the Von's shopping plaza in Rancho Penasquitos.  This place is a little dive for the locals looking for great burgers, sandwiches and beer in a laid back atmosphere.  I've had the Blue Cheese burger YUMMY, but the onion rings were a bit....., well...., okay, it was just awful!  I've also had the Smoked Turkey Sandwich and Hot Pastrami and Swiss.  Both were very big sandwiches and very tasty.  I do suggest opting for their regular fries instead of their Cajun or Garlic Fries.  Service is always friendly.  They have a kids menu and daily specials as well.  Great place to just hang out and relax in a very casual setting.

Imagine if you will a dive sports bar.  Imagine the sports memorabilia on the walls, the fooseball table, the air hockey table, multiple TV screens including a projector, and local beers on tap.
Now imagine a strip mall deli.  No air-con, grab and go drinks, and a few battered old tables.
Imagine the two establishments split own the middle and sewed back together.  You have imagined the Deli Stop Sports Pub!
The food itself is all right, but pretty boring.  (I'm starting to notice this as a theme in PQ.  It's like the people are afraid of flavor.)   I ordered the Turkey Bacon club and added avocado.  It tasted good, but I could get the same sandwich at Vons from their sandwich bar for cheaper.  My boyfriend's steak/mushroom/swiss sandwich was much more tasty, so if I go back I'd probably order something off their specialty sandwich menu.  I didn't partake any of the beers but they had a good selection of local beers on tap.  They do have coke soda fountain so you're not limited to the grab and go cooler.
Not sure if I'd be keen to go back but I do love that someone decided what San Diego needed was a combo bar and deli, and I can support that idea.  Despite the bar part it's a family friendly establishment.

Why are all the tables sticky? Seriously, it's disgusting. Even the pepper and salt shakers were sticking. We tried three different tables and they were all sticky. The food was a bit pricey for what you get. I probably won't be back.

The Deli Stop is awesome!! I have been there many times, and will be there many more times!
I love the hot Italian sandwich (my fav) and their other sandwiches and burgers are great too. They have a good selection of San Diego beers on tap, as well as some national brands.
Casual family atmosphere, mom and pop feel for sure.
I just wish they were open later since I work the night shift, it would be nice to stop in for a beer after work on the way home.

Ordered a beer which is very good, locally brewed. Will try their sandwiches next time. Not expensive too. Casual setting with quite a few TVs with different sports channels.

Very solid 4 stars! I've been here a few times in the past few weeks for lunch and have been pleased with their sandwiches - this last time i got the house special - a turkey sandwich with bacon and some kind of vinaigrette - made for a delightful and filling sandwich. Friends tried some of their other sandwiches and burgers and were pretty happy with their results - phillies, cheeseburgers, etc.

Go local for lunch or dinner, catch a game on their tvs, enjoy a beer, play Ms. Pacman or Galaga or pool.

While they have normal tables and chairs in the front, they have picnic tables in the back that are a little hard to squeeze into (non-moving bench). Friendly staff, outdoor tables as well. Check out their posted specials!

They take visa, mastercard, and discover but not american express.

A friend and I were so pleased with the place that we used it for the lunch stop of our annual puzzle race around town.

Food was average. They do have a good amount of games on tv. Very mom and pop shop. Seems kind of outdated. Meh.

The Deli Stop is great for a quick delicious beer or if you want to hang for a while and get something to eat. They are a sports bar and have a bunch of TV's so you can be pretty sure if its a game you're going to watch, they'll have it on. They have a jukebox with a great assortment of albums. I want to give them kudos for the variety of local beers they offer and for the awesome staff including Shelly, Jeanette, Pam and Lindsay. Well done!

This is a quiet place with sports showing on the TVs, and plenty of beer on tap.
I have never figured out why it hasn't become a little more popular. The burgers and other food is prepared fresh, and they have some great selections on the menu. It isn't very busy on a typical day, and they used to run coupons for buy one get one free on their hamburgers - check the entertainment book.

This is an awesome place to get a bite to eat and maybe a beer or two! Its held up pretty well so far......where its located in PQ for some reason has a lot of issues getting customers but its obvious the locals in PQ and myself enjoy it otherwise they wouldn't have made it this far! I really like the bacon avocado sandwich! The set up is really nice and homie as a pub outta be! The employees are always welcoming and nice! Great Sports Pub!

This is a great RP institution I have been coming to for 15 years.  The food, about what you would get if you went to the Vons a few doors down bought some frozen patties, lunch meat, bread, jarred condiments etc and cooked them up.

But this is about convenience, hanging out with the friends/family and being able to drink beer while the kids run around.

It fits that class fine. Just don't go in expecting anything more.

Ordered: deli stop Italian sub and amber lager.
The sandwich was waay good when you get it hot 7$.The sandwich gets wet but managable But the beer could have been colder or in a frozen cup(seeing that pq wa 90degrees)
For the 2 items the price was around 12$ kinda steep but the sandwich was worth it.

I should have tried the cheeseburger+fries+beer for 8$ all day summer special

lady that helped us was really nice

Driving by the mall looking for some lunch when we noticed this place.  They have sculpin on draft!  The sandwiches we had were pretty good and with a sculpin to wash things down, we determined this place is walking distance to our new house.  I don't know if that is good or bad yet.

I am going to move this rating up one star based only because of the service we received Friday night.

A group of us went in there to unwind from our week and hang out.  The grill was open later than normal so we were able to eat and still enjoy our pitchers.

Yeah, the beer was still on the warm side however Shelly did a great job tending to us regardless of all the other people in there that night.  We were able to enjoy some good conversation and a lot of laughs.

Heard about this from a friend. Maybe we just went on the wrong day but food was not that great.  The onion rings from the bag was nasty!!! The sandwiches were ok, I could've made the same sandwiches at home! Not going back!!!

As everyone else has said - half deli and half dive bar.  Tons of Padres stuff all over the walls.  Went mid-day and only waited a couple of minutes for my sandwich - a fantastic pastrami and swiss on marble bread.  Felt like I was transported back to a NYC deli.  Will definitely come back and watch a ballgame, and get another sandwich.

I love deli stop. The food is actually good quality but the good deals top it off. I got a ca chicken philly and it was the best philly iv had in a while for only four bucks. Service is super friendly. One of the few great classic pq spots

It's a cute little family place. My brother carpools with their kid and I assumed that's why they were so nice to me but they're actually just genuinely nice. My graduating class grew up here so when everyone is home, it's where you go to find everyone. The food is really good accompanied with quick and nice service.

Finally...a bar in Rancho Penasquitos with a happy hour special!!!

The Deli Stop Sports Pub is actually half deli, half bar. Pretty neat.

Happy hour runs everyday from 4-7pm which offers:
    $1 off beers
    $2 bistro burger
    $2 popcorn chicken and
    $2 frings.

Regular beer prices are $3.95 domestic drafts, $4.95 micro pints, and wine glasses for...wait for it...$4. Hmmm seems to good to be true...well for the wine glass that is. I'll have to see this on my next visit.

The bartender lady was cool and still gave me the happy hour pricing at 702pm. So I went with the bistro burger.

Well for $2, you get what you pay for. Not the best, slightly better than mediocre. But hey, you get the protein.

Cool atmosphere: They have direct tv with MLB and NFL tv packages. Bonus, they also have TVG, the horse racing channel...score!!!

They have a pool table, dartboard game, ms pacman and galaga and a deer video game.

Definitely family friendly as well. Eat and play video games or shoot pool with the youngings.

Or eat, drink or smoke outside in their patio.  Not much to see outside though, seemed desolate in this part of the shopping complex.

But other than that, decent happy hour prices, great sports TV packages, and friendly customer service.

Located over in the Von's Shopping Center in Rancho Penasquitos, this place is a pretty good find.  Half sports bar, half deli, all tasty. They have some outdoor seating as well, which can be nice on a warm afternoon.

Get a menu as they have some pretty good sandwiches and burgers to choose from. I've ordered food for pick up a few times and my orders are always ready when I arrive.

I usually get the Pepperoni Deli-Melt which includes sliced pepperoni, ham, roast beef and melted provolone cheese with mayo, lettuce and tomato. It is served hot, on a grilled French roll with Italian dressing. Pretty tasty as the pepperoni really stands out on this sandwich.

They also have quite a few sides to choose from. I prefer the really good cajun fries and garlic fries. Both make a very nice addition to a good sandwich.

As previously stated by many people, the decor is definitely a bit older, but it works for this place. I'm more interested in the food, so for good beer and good food, the Deli Stop delivers both.

Wrap your head around the idea of a Beer Bar on one side, and a Deli on the other. This my friends is the Deli Stop Sports Pub.

I ordered the Daily Special. Smoked turkey, cheddar, bacon, Vidalia Onion slaw on slightly toasted squaw bread. The sweet Vidalia Onion slaw is a unique twist over traditional Thousand Island dressing. It was a good sandwich.

The decor is old,  goofy sports memorabilia and stuff maybe boosted from Outback Steakhouse.. It's fun to look though while waiting for your grub.
The Stanley Richard photo is classic..

I've lived in Rancho Penasquitos all my life and I am always a fan of mom and pop shops.  I love this place, they have good food, great prices, and they just revamped the whole place with a new pool table, posters, and everything!  My favorite thing about this place are their specials, like drink sandwich combos, fries, pitchers its such a good deal.  This place has a great atmosphere and the owner is usually there working and is really nice.  Five Stars to the Deli Stop for sure!

A lot of people feel the service is slow at this place, but I think if you want fast food... hit the Jack n the Box across the shopping center!! I've been here a few times now, most recently with my wife and daughter.  Good service and good food!  The place has a mom and pop feel to it.  I'm all for giving my business to a local mom/pop shop opposed to a big chain as long as it measures up!  Its a small deli really.  I think they're trying to attract more than just lunch business by adding the sports pub feel!  Decent selection of beer and multiple TV's to watch games... but c'mon its in the middle of a PQ shopping center!  You can't expect it to be a full on bar, where you can go in a get $hit faced!  It's a family atmosphere...    I like it - and definetly recommend the food!

First, as a disclaimer, I used to go to the Deli Stop a lot from elementary to high school.  So when I step into The Deli Stop today, I feel a lot of nostalgia for the place.  The memorabilia on the walls is the same as it was 10 years ago....and I love it.

I think this place is awesome!  I recently went there after not having been there in a long time.  I ordered the Chicago Hot Italian Hogie (or something like that...it's the #6).  It was delicious with just the right amount of spice.  My boyfriend ordered the Torpedo, and it was also good.

They also have a lot of good beers on tap.  If you're a fan of Stone, this is the place for you.  My boyfriend got a pint of Arrogant Bastard for under $5.

I will admit, the service is not stellar (the bartender was no where to be found while we were waiting for our food).  But you have to remember that when you're here, there are probably only 3 people working.  It's definitely a mom & pop shop and it's not a place for if you're in a hurry.  But who is ever in a hurry at a sports pub?  If you want to watch the game, talk with friends, drink, and eat, this is a wonderful place to do it.

I am up in this area about once a month. I found this deli a few months ago and always go in for the House Special. This is turkey, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, mayo and a house mustard vinaigrette on squaw bread. It is DELICIOUS!
Unfortunately, the service is HORRIBLE. I have been there no less than 5 times and every time I leave feeling a bit miffed. An older woman and a younger redhead have never smiled nor greeted me. Only a "what can I get for you?" with no eye contact and no other verbal contact until "here you go" when they slide the bag on the counter and walk away. I think there was a man the first time who was okay, but definitely not up to par.
This won't keep me from getting my House Special but damn they are horrible at customer service.

Hamburgers are usually just hamburgers to me but ironically enough, the Deli Stop put out an awesome burger. On Fridays when I feel like a nice chill beer and some grub this place never fails.

Friendly atmosphere, mom & pop shop, great happy hour deals, great burgers, and not crowded like TGIF I'd have to say this place gets a thumbs up from me.

I like this restaurant. It's a hybrid between sandwich shop and sports bar, with a very mom and pop feel. All the memorabilia on the walls looks to be straight out of someone's private collection. I enjoy looking at all the old Padres items. Speaking of looking at stuff, you'll have plenty of time to do this. Though I'm a fan of this place, I would tell anyone looking for a quick meal to go somewhere else. At most I've seen two people preparing the food, making the wait understandable if there are many orders. This could be frustrating to anyone that's prone to impatience. The place also has plenty of TV's to watch while you wait. The sandwiches I've had here were good and made with fresh ingredients. I do like that there are many sandwiches on the menu. They do have a daily happy hour in the early evening that gets you two sandwiches for the price of one. That is a very nice deal, especially in these penny-pinching times.
