My girlfriend and I were road trippin from Texas to Minnesota and we came along this place. From the outside it looks like any other hole in the wall small town bar and the inside did too. Our waitress was so scatterbrained and loopy she had to be on drugs. She was busy chatting it up a mile a minute and while belching behind the bar. Needless to say not something you want to listen to when trying to eat. She recommended the patty melt so I got the patty melt and it was crispy black beef. I could not even finish half of it and the onions were slimy but the fries were ok. The other guests at the bar also seemed like they were on meth...just weird behavior. I would not recommend anyone trying this place for some good eats because they aint got it! Ptttt Ding!!!
Review Source:I first discovered Depot Saloon in 2006 and have made a number of return visits since then. Â
Depot Saloon is located in the heart of the tiny town of Avondale, which is located about a half mile north-northeast of North Kansas City Hospital. Â The town is tucked away in the woods and surrounded by a creek -- not many people have any idea it's even there.
The building is pretty plain on the outside, but inside reveals a nice dark wood bar fronting a large, well-lit dining room. Â Â There's pool tables in the back. Â Â Poker is hosted here fairly regularly and draws a decent sized crowd.
Depot Saloon is known for its BBQ. Â It's not the greatest I've had but it's not bad, and it's nice to be able to order a simple plate of burnt ends as a bar appetizer with your beer.
