The Depot

The Depot is a "dive" that isn't really a dive.  They have about 10 drafts with your typical domestics and a few crafts.  Prices are pretty good, service was pretty slow, and the crowd is mostly York College students so definitely bring your own friends because you probably wont be branching out to anyone new and they probably aren't going to reach out to you either.

A nice dive, wouldn't recommend wearing sandals. Beer selection has gotten alot better recently. Good bands on occasion.  Usually has good early bird specials on pitchers and mixed drinks.

Pretty much a hipster bar.  So that means on open mic night, there are people doing shitty ITAOTS-esque "acoustic/NON INDIE/'folk rock" (i.e. strumming on a guitar randomly whilst mimicking the sounds of a cat in a blender, though the ones who've gone up for open mic have only played guitar and didn't bring a troupe full with antiquated/obscure instruments).  However, on two separate Fridays, some friends and I went out and were pleasantly surprised.  One night there had a few DJs spinning dubstep/dnb/dubplate (surprise?  not really, just unexpected) with a pretty sweet afterparty, uh, afterward (though at a different venue) and a different Friday we saw some local bands from PA and Baltimore playing grindcore/powerviolence/crossover thrash sets.

PBR pounders are under two dorrah, I think.  They have a lot of specialty beers in the fridge, as well, along with a few different Dog's Head on tap.  A boilermaker will set you back not too terribly much (I just get a pounder, a glass, and a shot of whiskey -- under $5 ^_^ ) and yeah.

I take off half a star because they never update their events calendar on MySpace.  I take off another half a star because the "mosh pits" turn into a huge f'ing hugbox when a good band comes through because (1) everyone knows and doesn't want to hurt each other  and (2) girls think it's appropriate to get into a mosh circle and just stand there looking OMG SO CUTE~~~~~ ^____________________^

Aside from those two "negative" things, The Depot is a solid dive AND they have good music there, just UPDATE THE CALENDAR!!
