My first impression was not a good one. I got out of my car and the smell was horrible. Â I look down and I am walking in running water that is pretty much a grease pit flowing from the restaurant. Just from an environmental standpoint, I should have got back in my car and left, however I was meeting a friend. Thankful the smell was not so bad inside, but I think my nose was coated in the funk and I couldn't get past it. The service was not so good and the food was something you would expect from a Denny's but overpriced. Â I will not return.
Review Source:I've been to dimtri's several times. In the past as lastnight we were greeted immediately and seated with menus. It seemed our server was not the least bit familiar with protocol. Several minutes passed before we were offered drinks. The salad I ordered with my meal came with the drinks and no bread. The bread toasts did arrive with the lasagne and 15 minutes later a small round loaf freshly baked and delicious but by then I was about finished eating. I was offered dessert at the time which she claimed are prepared daily there. I could certainly be wrong but they certainly looked like the desserts I see @ the East St Kroger bakery.
I have usually enjoyed the ample portions, Â the meals have always been quite good; seasoned well, and quality as far as temp.. The selections are vast so not to leave any pallet with no variety.
I suggest Dimitri make sure his servers are aware when to affer and serve when and with what.....
Went in for a Saturday late morning breakfast. I have been in 2 times before and was still on the fence. The pros... beautiful decor and clean. they leave a coffee pot on each table when you order coffee. The service was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The owner "Dimitri" has been their every time I have been in, overseeing the operation. Now the cons... bacon was low quality thin and over cooked each visit. The omelet was made in "football" shape not folded and used very lil cheese and filling with canned mushrooms. A bit stiff on price for the quality of food. If third times the charm im not sure i will be going back a forth.
Review Source:If you're in the mood to have your socks knocked off, you should go to Dimitri's. Â It is a hidden gem. Â Their food is AMAZING! Â They must have a gourmet chef back there in their kitchen because it is top notch. Â
I had always ignored Dimitri's because it isn't in the best location. Â Last night I saw a review here on yelp, recommending it so I decided to try it out today. Â When you walk in, the place is really classy. Â It's immaculately clean and elegantly decorated. Â You would never know this place used to be a Denny's. Â They have ambient lighting which highlights your delicious food yet leaves the rest of the place dim and relaxing. Â Our waitress, Ashley, was so attentive and really impressed us. Â My boyfriend and I got breakfast. Â The sign outside says 'best breakfast in town' and that sign is not lying. Â Some of the omelets and skillets have less toppings than some restaurants but the quality of the ingredients is incomparable. Â I have NEVER tasted eggs so delicious. Â I couldn't wrap my head around it. Â They even found a way to make their pancakes more amazing. Â They were light and fluffy and had such a complex flavor. Â Even the syrup was better than everywhere else. Â The syrup was heated and it was dark in color. Â The flavor was quite unique. Â It's hard to explain how they take something so simple, that you have eaten hundreds of times and bring it to a completely different level. Â It was so obvious that everything was fresh and well prepared. Â I wouldn't be surprised to see this food on the food network.
So overall, the atmosphere was great, the service was great, the food was amazing. Â
If you've never been to this restaurant, you have no idea what you're missing.
We found this place by accident. My wife and I were heading to Old Country Buffet only to discover that it had gone out of business.
Driving home we passed by Dimitri's. So we said what the heck.
They have a very diverse menu and all of the food we have tried (been there about 5 times as of tonight) has been fantastic. They serve you with this big bread roll that sometimes is hot out of the oven and its fantastic!
The food tastes fresh, the service is good although tonight our waiter was a little on the poor English side so there were some minor issues. Overall, a great place to go and get a great meal.
The prices are reasonable and you will be able to find something you like!
UPDATE 2-25-12
We gave been back 2 more times since I wrote this last review. Nothing has changed except sometime the bread you get before your meal is a little cold and sometimes a little stale. The plated food has always been outstanding. Sometimes you meal comes with a soup and every time we have one of their soup selections, it has been fantastic.
Last night I tried the rice pudding. Not a fan before and not a fan after! Should have went with the ice cream!
