Review Source:Ate here with a friend a few weeks ago. Dolce is my mom's maiden name, so I had been trying to get here ever since hearing of the place.
Service was very good. Our waiter was attentive, cheerful and even funny (in a non-annoying way). The interior was warm, intimate, and clean.
Onto the food. The bread was just OK - my guess is it was purchased elsewhere.
The Caprese salad was average. The cheese was a little too chilled, and the tomatoes seemed to be hot house (I'll give them a break here, since it WAS February). For mains, we ordered pasta dishes, and they were, again, average. Nothing spectacular.
Then we got to dessert, which is where the meal took a decided turn to below average. I am a HUGE tiramisu fan, and asked if the tiramisu was fresh, and was told it was. Wrong answer. Clearly not only was this frozen and prepared previously (probably somewhere else), but when it was served, it was STILL partially frozen.
Now, I understand that a restaurant of this size probably can't make their own desserts - however, you could find a local bakery to provide them for you, or at very least, if you're gonna offer pre-made frozen confections, at least THAW them out before serving them.
To their credit, once I mentioned the frozen tiramisu, they took it off my bill, but by then, they had lost me.
Unfortunately, despite wanting to really like this place, especially considering the connection with my mom's maiden name, it didn't live up to my expectations, and I can't imagine I'll be back.
