Saw good reviews so made the reservation for 10 o clock last saturday. I must say the Overall experience was mind boggling. Ill start with the fact that the place had like 4 other guests in the whole place and we felt like we were being rushed the whole time, yet the food took like 40 minutes to arrive??
One of my friends got the sea bass, it was under seasoned , as well as under cooked. She chose to eat the fish from the ends towards the center, so of course didn't realize the center was raw until towards the end if her meal. We then let the server know and he took the plate after making sure she wasn't going to eat it then said 'perfect, thanks'...uuum what? Perfect thanks? Anyways the bill came and her fish was still on it so she asked to speak with a manager. The 'manager' -who I'm pretty sure was just a different server, got up from his table where he was drinking with friends and came over addressing the table in Spanish... I know its Miami but come on. Â Either way he took it off but the server definitely didn't forget to remind us that she ate her whole meal before trying to get it for free... I'm not sure if he caught that fish with his bare hands our what but, first off you don't say stuff like that to guests and secondly, why does he care so much?! Â Â I ordered the croque madame, which was par and dry but had half left so asked to get it wrapped. It was brought out like a child wrapped it in foil and thrown in a giant grocery store paper bag... Hhhm.
No thank you!
Came here with my husband and coworkers with a Groupon coupon on a saturday night. Â The restaurant is really nice and sophisticated with Paris themed walls. Our waitress and server were really nice and amicable. Â Service was outstanding. Â We ordered the escargot and cheese platter for appetizers, 3 of us had the seabass with risotto and asparagus and my husband the chicken fricasse all of us liked our plates and drinks, the peach lime martini was excellent. Â For dessert they had the chocolate lava cake, which was very rich and the eclairs which i heard were okay.
Review Source:I had  purchased a Groupon and went to Dominique Bistro on Saturday, January 5th, 2013.  The restaurant is lovely and we were greeted by a man and a woman, I think they are the owners.  Everyone was friendly and very accommodating. The service was outstanding and they made suggestions based on what we could order at no extra charge using our Groupon. The walls are adorned with Paris, and Paris-style art work. The music changes from cool jazz to smooth easy listening which provides a very relaxing and pleasant dining experience.  A nice change of all the TV filled restaurants that do not allow you to converse.  This is definitely a place to enjoy  good food and company. Â
For appetizers we ordered a cheese plate (french cheeses served on a wooden board with green seedless grapes - lovely presentation and enough for 4) and a spinach salad with apples and walnuts. Â They serve it with warm baguettes. Â Lovely combination of flavors.
We were also entitled to drinks and ordered mojitos and a waterrmelon smash. Â Awesome!
For dinner I ordered the sea bass which is served with asparagus and risotto. Â Delicious! Â The other folks ordered the skirt steak with french fries. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the fries were hot and crunchy. Â Absolutely delish!
For dessert we ordered the creme brulee and Fondant au Chocolatea which is a chocolate lava cake served with ice cream. Â The creme brulee was outstanding but I did not care too much for the lava cake. Â It was way too rich, dense, and the chocolate was overpowering. The restaurant has lovely music and it is definitely a place to go for a relaxing and awesome dinner. Â At 10p they change the music and it becomes a party ambience but that worked out just as nice. Â It is a trendy place. Â We loved it and will definitely be back.
I discovered this place through Groupon and decided to try it since it was so close and the majority of the reviews were positive. Â The Groupon deal offered one appetizer, two entrees (with several exclusions), two drinks, and a dessert for $54.
My boyfriend and I went on a Tuesday night and although there were a handful of other patrons it was pretty quiet, which I expected for a Tuesday night.  For an appetizer we chose the tuna tartare and for dinner he chose the skirt steak while I got the filet.  The filet was excluded from the Groupon but you were allowed to order it for an upcharge.  All were very good and the portion size was decent.  For dessert we chose the creme brûlée, also good, but we were so full by that point that we only finished about half of it.
Regarding drinks I chose a martini called the Paris Basil. Â I am not big on gin but decided to try it because the basil aspect sounded interesting. Â I am glad I did because it was really good and refreshing.
This restaurant offers a happy hour Monday through Friday from 5 - 8 PM that includes small plate appetizers for $5. Â My boyfriend tried the mini pork slider sandwich. Â I had a bite and really like the toasted bread it was served on. Â The happy hour special also offers half off drinks.
The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Â I hope to come back soon and give the happy hour a try.
We were looking for a place to watch the Heat Game and stumbled on Dominique Bistro. For a Friday night, it wasn't very crowded. We sat at the bar and ordered up a few beers. They had a limited selection of bottled beers but the beer was very cold and as well as the chilled glasses.
As I watched my team fall behind on the road, I ate more small chunks of warmed white and wheat bread. I also went for the butter. For an entree, I ordered the Chicken Francaise (Half a chicken on the bone with sauce served with Risotto). The Risotto was very, very good. The chicken, not something I normally order.
They had two large flat screen TVs over the bar, but the game wasn't in Hi-Definition. For some, that makes a difference. We also needed to ask them to turn on the Miami Heat Game -- we're in the 305 and we're the World Champs but again, this is a French Bistro.
The Bartender was very friendly which I assume helps keep the regulars coming in. There were parties dining both inside and out, but again, it wasn't that crowded.
There is metered parking nearby.
We went to Dominique Bistro for lunch and were a little disappointed.
Let's start with the pros:
- The deco looks really awesome, well done!
- The restaurant is new and clean
- The location is ok and it's easy to park
Now the cons:
- Food: overcooked (burgers)
- Pricing: way to high given the quality of the food
- Staff: not really friendly (neither unfriendly)
- Timing: very slow! 30min to get a burger!
We spent $25 each for lunch and will not come back.
Definitely did not expect such a beautiful space. Outside there are nice bistro style tables and chairs. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted and welcomed into a huge space with high ceilings and classy decor. The service was impeccable, and the Miami Spice menu was a great chance to experience the whole essence of this restaurant at a good price. Portions were great. Only thing, the Medium-temp skirt steak we ordered came undercooked, and the food was lukewarm. But great experience, in a beautiful ambiance with awesome service, food and music.
Review Source:When I went here, it was a Wednesday night at 8:15. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant at the time. The food was awesome, the service was great. I don't know why this place isn't more popular. Yeah, parking sucks, and that location sucks for the most part. But it's a great restaurant. The onion soup was good, and the chicken fricassee was amazing.
Review Source:The food is absolutely mediocre at best. It is bland and of bad quality. This place is a disgrace for French cuisine!!!!
The french onion soup was the worst I have even paid for. It was too watery, barely any cheese and tasted strange. I can't even place the flavor, except for BAD!!
The fricasse was awful. The risotto was a mush of fake truffle oil and the chicken barely had any meat. Plus, it tasted like it had been boiled instead of simmered in wine sauce. Very badly made.
The grilled sea bass took a detour from the grill to the microwave because it was dry in the middle. Usually a clear sign of being "nuked".
This is just plain old bad and over priced food.
Plus, the waiter didn't even check on us for water refills, etc...
Needless to say I will not be returning.
Perhaps they should focus on the "club" aspect of the place and forget the "bistro"!
In Brickell, but off the beaten path... And yet sooooooo with the trip!
Where to begin...
Food: AMAZING!
We had the croque madam, which was heavenly. Perfectly melts cheese and perfectly cooked egg that oozed all over.
Had the quiche Lorraine with it's fluffy egginess and flaky crust with a perfectly complemented salad was a great afternoon lunch or breakfast.
Onion soup, also 5 stars... Pls don't miss having it. We think they used Fines Herbs to season it and the gruyere was perfectly gloppy all over!
Bread was soft n fresh, perfect to dunk in the butter remnants of the escargot. Simple but great.
Service was impeccable, although I'm sure it helped that we were that server's only table, but nonetheless great. Also liked the old school French music playing in the background that added to the overall atmosphere.
People have told me they love Le Bouchon du Grove, well let me tell you, they can just suck it! This place is waaay better and minus the unairconditioned kitchiness.
Thank you Spice for introducing is to this gem, we will definitely be going back!
Date night with my SO and this time we decided to try Dominique.
We walked in and immediately loved the place. Her first comment was "they wish they had places like this in Paris". No don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are nice places in Paris, we just didn't see any when we went last year, or at least not as nice as Dominique. The place is casual/fancy. It has little booths with a very romantic setting. It has outdoor cafe style short tables and elegant bar style tall tables as well as a lounge area. The walls are adorned with Paris, and Paris-style art work. The music swings from cool jazz to smooth easy listening.
The service is fantastic. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. When we decide to change tables they accommodated us immediately. Our server, Fernando, was beyond helpful.
On to the meal. For drinks, my SO had the Watermelon Smash with a drop of grenadine (the grenadine was suggested by Fernando since my SO told him she likes pomegranate, once again, Fernando's service was outstanding) I had the Paris basil, I'm not a fan of cocktails and sugary drinks but I must say the drink was great.
For appetizers we had the Foie Gras and the Coquilles St. Jaques (pan-seared scallops in white sauce and mushrooms.) The scallops were delicious, and the foie gras was so fatty and tasty.
For entrees my SO had the Chicken Fricassée and I had the Grilled Sea Bass. My  girlfriend's chicken was tender and moist. My sea bass was flaky, very well cooked and very tasty (another great suggestion by Fernando) and the risotto that came with both entrees was very creamy and very delicious.
For dessert we share the Fondant au Chocolate. Yes, I know, every restaurant have their version of the lava chocolate cake with ice cream, and I tend to stay away from them as they all taste pretty much the same. But this one is different. The cake is nicely baked. Going from a dry crust to a moist inside. The chocolate is not to sweet is more on the bitter side, which I love. And the vanilla ice cream was exceptional.
Dominique was a great experience, cant wait to be back.
Such a great addition to Brickell. I walked in and immediately fell in love with the decor. It is so charming and eclectic. First thing I noted was the happy hour lasts until 8PM with half off all drinks...pretty rare for Brickell and something I knew I had to take advantage of!
I got some awesome drink called French Tart- vodka, peach liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and a lemon twist. It was strong and just a little sweet and I didn't even want to switch up my drink for round 2 (which is something I would usually do). Let's just say I'm no lightweight when it comes to drinking, but I was definitely feeling it by my second drink.
I started with the French Onion Soup, a staple. It was steaming hot, cheesy, and delicious. I also ordered the Dominique Salad which I would definitely go back for. It came with spinach, apples, caramelized walnuts, and goat cheese and it was a generous portion size. Â I tried the salmon tartare and I have to say honestly that I was not a fan. Luckily we had enough food so that I wasn't too disappointed. I tried some of my aunt's chicken fricassee with champagne risotto. This is a MUST. Looking forward to trying the duck on my next visit to this cute little French spot!
Great new French restaurant in Brickell.
A little piece of Paris. Â Metro-esque tile on the floors, black and whites of the Parisian monuments and rustic wooden tables. Â
Decor check.
The critical starter Onion Soup. Â Gooey cheese, salty beef broth and floating bread. Well done. Entrecote was cooked to perfection. Didn't even need the butter or bearnaise sauces. Â Fries crisp and hot just like they are supposed to be. Â Last but not least...and believe me people when I say not least (desert is the first dish I chose on a menu!) the Creme Brulee. Â Custard was just sweet enough and actually served at the right temperature, the burnt sugar shattered with that satisfying crack. Â Heaven.
Food check.
The ambiance in the restaurant is fantastic. Â It turns into a sort of lounge/club in the evenings so you can transition to your night activities straight from dinner. Music is the old French songs that we all kind of know and probably have an accordion involved (perfect during your fantasy culinary trip to France) then switches over to a higher tempo dance music.
Ambiance check.
I don't go to Brickell often but I will be heading back to Dominique's for sure. 5 stars for hitting all the bases and beyond!!!
