I went here for my birthday and it was a great, environment.  Not a big place, but not cramped either.  I was a bit disappointed that the waitress had no idea what nigori sake was, so we settled for regular hot sake.  I would have been more excited if there were oyster shooters, but alas...I have yet to gain trust in the Midwest when it comes to seafood.  It was probably for the best.

The food was fantastic and I got free dessert, plus the option to either hit a gong or use the mallet to hit my boyfriend in the head.  Tough choice.  I ended up going with the gong because I don't have one of those at home.  I will definitely be coming back here!

This is one of the nicer restaurants in Muncie and I highly recommend it for a couple of really good reasons:

    1) the food is DELICIOUS! I am always satisfied with the food- it is fresh, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. My favorite dish is the Hibachi Steak with fried rice which comes to about $20. The DoMo sauce that comes in a side saucer is so flavorful, I always dip my steak in the sauce.

    2) It is soo entertaining to watch the chefs perform as they cook the meal right in front of you. They do all kinds of cool tricks and really know how to put on a show. It is great to get a group together and go out to dinner at DoMo because it is a real experience you won't forget.

    3) The price isn't bad at all! $20 is pretty inexpensive for a meal where you are getting steak and entertainment and I have to mention you will leave feeling very full and carrying a to go box.

**In comparison to Benihana's it isn't quite as good- Benihana's is a little bit better in terms of the fact that they can accommodate larger groups, the atmosphere is more fancy and the food is a little bit better. I would give Benihana's five stars but don't let that keep you from giving DoMo a try!

Came strictly for sushi.  Sushi was as good as O-Fusion, but Domo's was better priced, hence they get an extra star.  We came for a late lunch, right before 3pm, other than one other table the place was empty.  It has a generic interior with numerous hibachi grills along the perimeter of the restaurant.  We were served quickly, waitress was friendly.  If ever in this area again, would choose Domo over O-Fusion.

"Domo Arigato, Mata au hi made"

    DoMo Japanese Steakhouse

The only place in town to get a quality Hibachi meal without the drive to Indy. A little on the pricey side ... but worth it. I had the seafood combo. The noodles and veggies are fantastic--simple, seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Could have made a meal of just that! I had the Golden Shrimp, the Spicy Garlic Shrimp, and the scallops. Scallops were pretty good! I have to say, even though I'm a lover of shrimp, I doubt I would order that type of shrimp again ... it was simply a little bland. I'm one who can never get enough garlic, and I didn't taste much by way of the spicy garlic on that shrimp order. The Golden Shrimp, was ok, but again ... probably wouldn't order it again and that's just a personal preference.

My friend ordered the chicken from the hibachi grill. It was FANTASTIC! I found myself wishing I'd ordered it as well. Excellent flavors, perfectly seasoned sauce.

All food portions were incredibly generous!

Several at our communal table ordered the steak. I didn't have it but they raved about it. It smelled and looked amazing.

Our chef was entertaining and personable. Not too serious, but skilled at his craft. Made the meal enjoyable while watching him cook.

The place was packed. Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

Don't plan on a quick meal here ... we had great service and prompt. Still didn't leave until 9 p.m.

Overall, I give the place a 'B+'. For anyone to give a low rating due to price point factors seems unreasonable to me given that I never go to a restaurant not knowing the price points. I have always known it was a pricey place, but the food quality and the at-your-table hibachi meals are part of that factor.

I've also dined at Fusion Japanese Restaurant and it's prices are less, but does not offer hibachi meals at the tables. Both are great. One of the men at our table had sushi ... he said he'd had sushi in a variety of places nationwide, and his at DoMo was good, but not great. Again, his personal preference.

I'd go back for special occasion, but not regularly only because it's one of those places that should be savored for special occasion!

    overpriced and too many carbs.

ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box.  the hostess was very knowledgeable and explained to me what each sauce was used on and what the ingredients were.  really great to see that.

however, it was the cheapest thing on the menu for $14 bucks.  she asked if i wanted rice or noodles.  i told her rice.

when i came home the bento box had rice and noodles.  why would i want rice and noodles?

couldn't they replace the noodles with a three piece california roll or two pieces of gyoza?

for less than $14 dollars i've had far better bento box dinners with more interesting sides.

The best Japanese restaurant around. Great sushi and super lunch and dinner meals. We love the scallops meal, and the miso soup is great.

I drop a bit too much money here. Dinner for four is only a special event but boy is this good. No reason to head to Indy.  Attentive staff and fantastic food.

My food was fantastic & that white miso-based sauce is so addictive. Tried the kalamari tempura, & thankfully it was soft & delicious, not chewy at all & cooked perfectly. The spicy crab roll was also superb. I see the other reviewers didn't like the food, but I must have gone on a great night. However, it's been since '08 that I ate here because I moved to Indy, but it was still fantastic that night.

Went here for a Valentines Day. Wait was about 40 minutes but that's expected on a holiday like that. At Domo's you can choose to sit at a table where they can cook your food right in front of you. This establishment was a tad bit pricey ($30 for an entrée and 4 pieces of Sushi). Overall, it's an okay Japanese restaurant but I wouldn't come here for a romantic atmosphere.

I must have went on a bad day, $25 for a 6 oz. dry tasteless steak no thanks.

The "show" wasn't anything impressive (maybe if your a kid you will enjoy it.)

I much more enjoy the "dirty" buffets at other Asian restaurants., at least their food has taste.

This place is great! The hibachi is entertaining, but mainly just delicious. It's a bit pricey, but the meal comes with soup (also offer vegetarian miso), salad (with the best ginger dressing of your life), plus the entree (that means veggies, noodles, + rice). They have the best dipping sauces! Great fried tofu appetizer, and they offer a large vegetarian selection, considering this is Muncie. Plus, I love the people who work there...cute and fun atmosphere. My only complaint would be the music...I swear, I always hear the same instrumental rendition of "My Heart Will Go On."

The only place to get sushi and Hibachi-style entree's in Muncie. The food  is spectacular, and the service is outstanding!
