This is my second time here. My wife got the fish & chips. I got the Mushroom Swiss burger. The fish could have been seasoned a little more. The burger was perfect. This is a sports bar/restaurant. Good for families and little kids. The menu isn't extensive, but it works. The TV's are placed so that they can be watched from most tables/booths in the restaurant or sitting at the bar.
Review Source:Had the Shepherd's Pie: just ground beef underneath mashed potatoes and cheese, with string beans on the side. Â It was OK, but not worth $14.99. Â Liked the Kilkenny Cream Ale and the Irish Nachos. Â My sister's soup was luke warm, though the waitress gladly had it heated up. Â Have been here a few times before and enjoyed my meals more than this visit, Â Will return, but the Shep's Pie is off my list.
Review Source:5 Stars for overall performance.
I visit Dooney's every week for lunch with my office team.
Food quality is really good, you can feel the quality chicken/meat.
Servers are friendly, take extra measures to provide great service and are nice to talk to.
We always ask for our fav server and she makes sure that we have extra water, napkins and all minor things which many big restaurants ignore.
Great service, great food !
Only thing I dont like is the chips which come with sandwiches/burgers, although for extra $1 you can get fries. But chips are loaded with oil and are not good to eat. Everything else is great.
It's a pleasure to go to Dooney's, which we've been doing on a regular basis lately. Â Great pub atmosphere, always greeted nicely at the door, good bar and very good bartenders (particularly Lauren and Gabby). Â The food is pretty good for bar food; the bread used for sandwiches is excellent. Â It's great to have a neighborhood place that's not a chain (we refused to frequent them any more). Â You can see the owners' personal touch everywhere. Â Would like to see more music earlier in the night, but otherwise, a fun place!
Review Source:Whilst driving around locally last weekend, and after not feeling our first couple of options, (45th St. Pub and Throwbacks) we wound up at Dooneys Pub. Full disclosure, it was close to midnight, but the place was sparsely occupied. We sat at the bar and ordered food while listening to some guy play some cover songs on his guitar. (The guy was pretty good so, theres that)
We sat at the bar and were waited on by 2 nice bartendresses. I ordered the Steakhouse Burger (steak seasoning and served with cheddar cheese, sauteed mushrooms, thick cut onion ring and steak sauce.) I remember it being tasty, but I hadn't eaten AT ALL that day and honestly would've eaten a boiled shoe by that point. I also had a drink called a "Paloma" which I only got because thats the name of a friend of mine. It was ok. (Tequilla based) The burger and drink came out to around $18.
As for the place, its actually quite nice. Clean, open, plenty of seating with an outdoor sitting area. They had a couple of tvs that were mostly tuned to some soccer game. (Meh.) The bartenders were attentive without being annoying.
I'd check it out again.
Ok food, ok beer selection. I've been here a few times. The thing that kills this place is the service, the waiters seem like they just wander around and pick tables at will. This has occurred a number of times both in the bar area and the dining room
One night we sat down and waited a good 15 min for anyone to even notice us, we finally grabbed someone and she said "yea I guess I can take you"......gee thanks..
A close option if you want to catch a game or grab some food/drink. Â The beer selection is surprisingly decent, with DFH 90 minute on tap! Â I had a chance to sample the huge wings and they were pretty good. Â The sauce could have been slightly better but for the shear size of the wings, they were worth it. Â I like this place even though it feels chainish; it's clean, comfortable, and an easy option if I want to stay close.
Review Source:We went this past Saturday it was really packed (everyone got the $20 off coupon in the mail) but we only waited about 20 mins. It was me, Â my husband and our 7 and 2 yr old. We were a little disappointed we didn't get a booth with a tv to watch the flyers game but there was still big tvs all around we can watch. We ordered wings and the were DELICIOUS! We all loved the garlic buffalo and the hot were very good too. We all got sandwiches which were all good. Our waitress was very nice and good with the kids even bringing a coloring book over. It was loud but what do u expect on a Sat night at a pub? I don't mind it so then if the kids act up no one hears lol.
Review Source:I think the atmosphere sucked hardcore, I didn't like the fact that we were sat near the bar with my 6 year old. Â The prices are pretty fair, the service wasnt that great all, could do much better. Â I think its just a lot of hype really. Â My burger was heavy and not cooked the way I ordered it. Â Now the bread was really good and we all thought so. Â I think they need to step it up with their service (be a little more out going) and pay mind to how people order their meat, bc if I say medium rare I do not want chard corners and a little tiny bit of pink. Â I think the only thing that saved this place were their prices.
Review Source:I hate to give this place only 2 stars but the food was bad to mediocre at best. Â The pub itself was awesome and had a great atmosphere. Â It's really clean, spacious, nicely decorated in dark, warm colors, and there are a million flat screen TVs. Â Even the booths have their own TVs--and they actually let you control the volume and change the channel. Â So if you want a great spot to watch a game and drink with your friends, this is definitely the place to go. Â I would love to go back for some beers. Â That said, I went with family for dinner and I'm just really hoping Dooney's improves whatever is going on in the kitchen. Â You're probably safe if you stick to the usual bar fare--burgers/fries/wings, etc. Â But I ordered the pasta primavera. Â I know, I know, who goes to a place that calls itself an Irish pub and orders a pasta dish? Â Me. Â I don't eat meat and I was (sort of) trying to be healthy. Â I think it was either that or pizza, so I tried the pasta. Â It was awful. Â There was no flavoring that I could taste. Â No garlic, not even any salt or pepper (at least not any amount that was noticeable). Â It looked completely unappetizing as the only vegetables mixed in were broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, and slimy long sauteed onions that looked like they belonged on the cheese steaks, not on the pasta. Â So it was a dish of green, yellow, pale yellow and tan . . . as it's the middle of summer and the place is in NJ, I didn't think it would be crazy to expect some tomatoes! Â Or bell peppers. Even some fresh red onion would have been great. Â I just felt like this is the easiest dish in the universe and they clearly couldn't be bothered to do it right. Â And if they can't do it right, they should just take it off the menu. Â I've been to other bar/grille-type restaurants and had great pasta dishes, so I know it's possible. Â My husband had the shepherd's pie and said it was ok, but nothing he would purposely seek out again. Â I also have to say that our waitress was really slow and disappeared for long stretches of time. Â It wasn't crowded or busy when we were there yet she didn't pay much attention to what was going on at our table. Â She was very friendly, but her obliviousness got to be pretty annoying. Â Since this place is so new I hope it will improve and I'll be able to update with a better rating soon. Â Bottom line--this place is great for drinks, but don't expect a fabulous meal.
Review Source:We went on a Friday night and the place was packed. We waited about 10 minutes for a booth. It has a lively bar and the dinner crowd reminds you of a family restaurant at the shore, extremely casual with lots of kids running around. Basically a large room with booths, tables and a bar, not much else regarding decoration. Certainly no charm of a quaint Irish pub. The place was extremely noisy to the point I could  barely hear my dinner partner. The garlic wings were awesome, she had the seafood tacos and liked them, my black and blue burger was a generous size but OK. The lettuce tomato and onion were really skimpy. A few strands of onion, one lettuce leaf and a two tiny tomato slices, that was it. Our server was excellent. We would prefer a quieter spot for that kind of food, and there are plenty to choose from in the area.
Review Source:Great place. Lots of tvs, huge beer variety, clean bathrooms and dining room.
Food is exceptional. I strongly recommend the fish tacos, I'm in love with them (get them blackened). As far as appetizers go, the wings are outstanding!
Service is great overall. Friendly servers and bartenders. The managers are the nicest people ever, they go out of their way to make your experience the best it can be.
Did I mention the cute outside patio? This is my new go-to place. I can go on and on about the things I love about it but I'll let you check it out for yourself.
