Start with the ubiquitous statement of I have to give this place a star, which it absolutely deserves none.
I will echo some of the past commenters' opinions in that the owner of this place either has an extreme case of anti social behavior or has a true misunderstanding of how a customer based service is supposed to work.
From the moment my friend and I walked in the best way to describe our reception and treatment would be frigid. Not even a hello. We immediately felt as if we walked in and were a nuisance. We tried talking to her but after a few curt and short replies we stopped. We tried the wine and there isn't anything special about it. They use a very young grape and don't let the flavors age or mature. The lady mentioned that these wines are made to be drank immediately, but without aging, they all taste bland and weak. We asked questions and never received answers just attitude. We asked about specials and "yeah, we have some," was the answer. We asked about the weekends, " we have jazz." Just straight get to the point answers that offered no explanations or descriptions, and ultimately no reasons to ever return to this wine bar. The product is inferior, the owner is incorrigible, the price is decent for a wine tasting, so not all bad, however, this place should think to close down and stop pretending it is anything but a wet dream of an owner who has no business being in business.
Let me start by saying that I really like some of the wines here, as does my husband. It's close to home, convenient, and affordable. However, if the owner is there, yuck. She's rude and cold, and as another Yelper said, it seems that she is bothered by your business. Just truly terrible to have around. Luckily, every now and then there will be someone else behind the counter, and that experience is the polar opposite, as the two other women who have served us wine there have been friendly and gracious. The owner needs to realize she has ZERO people skills and start keeping someone else behind the counter at ALL times! If she did that, this place would be really great!
Review Source:Mike T is partially right. Â The Hag that owns this place is more than a sour puss. Â We really enjoyed our visit to the Grapevine location, so when a Groupon came up we snagged a couple of them. Â The Garland location is closer to home so we chose that location thinking it would be the same experience. Â NOT. Â Damn, we bought 2 and 1 as a gift for my parents... Â We might just throw our other Groupon in the trash. Â I thought she just despised us because she assumed we were cheap because we had a Groupon for a wine tasting and $20 credit for bottles. Â We ended up spending $60+ on 6 bottles and she never relented. Â Bitter to the end. Â WhataHAG!
I'm coming back just to spite her. Â Free wine tasting and free bottle next time. Â I aint spending a dime!!!
Sorry to say but this place deserves NO stars! The owner was there Saturday night and man what a sour puss she is. Honestly she is as bad as the wines that they serve! I am a wine guy and I even teach wine classes and I asked this poor lady about the structure of the wine that she is about to serve and she replied "well as you know sir everyone has a different palate"! Are you serious? I wanted to know about the mouth feel and the finish! What the hell does my palate have to do with that! I asked for a taste of the Tempranillo and then the Malbec and wondered if she had poured the same wine for the tasting. They both tasted identical. I tasted blueberry and bing cherry in both of these and neither had an aroma at all! Â This place is perfect for all of you White Zinfandel drinkers out there!!
PROSIT!!
