Ok, this place, awesome. I am going to overlook the fact that they serve everything on plastic... yes plastic. Yet I'm still giving them 5 stars. They gotta be doing something right, don't you think???
My mom and I came in for some breakfast. Skirt steak and 3 eggs, hash brown and toast for $11.25. Ordered one of those, coffee and an orange juice. OJ is bottled. My mom loved the coffee (she's super picky). $16 for both of us, not bad.
Now on to the food. So glad I ordered one for us to split because there is NO WAY either of us could have eaten that whole plate. The steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Potatoes were nicely cooked and eggs over easy just like we like them.
I honestly didn't expect such great food. The rest of the menu is very reasonably priced and I look forward to heading back to try something else. Or for another steak and eggs breakfast!!!!
IT IS THE KIND OF PLACE THAT I COULD ALMOST AFFORD TO EAT AT EVERY DAY. GUS IS GREAT, I'm not sure if he is an owner or just a cook. Either way, he is a very nice and hardworking guy, who appreciates his customers. I'VE GIVEN THEM A LOT OF BUSINESS because THEIR PORTIONS ARE BIG AND THEIR PRICES ARE REALLY GOOD, your order is ready quickly, Â and I like their staff. Â I've had just about everything on the menu and my ratings for the food vary. Some items, like their grilled chicken and chicken kabobs, are VERY BIG AND VERY GOOD. Â I also like their side of rice pilaf. Â Their fish and chips however, are just frozen fish fillets.Their breakfast prices can't be beat. Â They obviously focus on portions and prices, so I'm rating them based on that. It's basically a fast food restaurant that's a few steps above your Wendy's and more than a few steps above McDonald's.
Review Source:I'm pretty sure I have found my new favorite 'fast food' place that's not a franchise. Â The menu here is HUGE!! Â The first time I went I had the gyros plate... loved it! Â The second time, I had the chicken parmesan sandwich... Yum! Â Even the fries are great! Â Edens is small with only a few tables, but it's so clean and neat that you can be very comfortable eating there. Â I think their only downfall for me is that they are closed on Sundays... bummer.
Review Source:I worked in the area for about a year and went here a couple times a week for lunch. It's a really solid lunch spot. Fast, affordable, tasty. You can't go wrong with pretty much anything on the menu, but I usually got the grilled chicken sandwich on a pita with hot peppers. Seriously amazing stuff.
It can get crowded around lunch time but if you come around 1:30 or so you should be able to get a table.
DFA-breakfast...That's don't mess around. Â My hair stylist said this place was great and she was right. Â I had the pancakes, the feta omlette, French toast, and washed it down with a malt. Â Gus behind the counter was kind and let me add gyro meat and a hot dog to my omlette. Â Overall a good value, and good feelings. Â The only problem was the tv had the news on and I like watching Charlies Angels for breakfast.
Review Source:My stomach is still smiling from my lunch. Â The chicken is marinaded in this amazing wonderfulness- and no matter how you order it- it comes juicy and full of flavor.
I went with the chicken parm sandwich, and I Â could not eat it quick enough. Â No joke. Â The bread was fresh and soft and I already told you about the chicken...heaven! Â The fries were fresh and the staff was friendly. Â It is a family owned restaurant- and you can tell. Â
It is a clean environment. Â It's only a little ways a way from my office- and I WILL be returning!
Small establishment that's served the area for a great many years, glad they were able to renovate the space. Â Neighborhood folk argue over whose gyros are the best, there are a number of char restaurants nearby. Â With this said, I think their gyros are decent, though I don't think of them in my top five. Â Solid 3.5 stars.
Review Source:I work like a block away from this fabulous greasy spoon, so its safe to say that I'm well aquainted with the staff and the food. I feel like I Â have a special relationship with their cheese fries, but I dont wanna make the burgers jealous. So shush! Â They also make AWESOME breakfast! Their sausage links are huge and juicy and for like $5 you get a delicious medley of eggs, sausage (or bacon), toast and hashbrowns. Now thats a deal!
They have a pretty extensive menu aside from the traditional hot dogs and burgers. Their marinated chicken breast is the JAM, Â and their gyros and italian beef are not far behind. They also have cold sandwiches and salads, but if you're eating at a greasy spoon I don't think you are here for a salad. The staff is always friendly. Its nice to go to a place where they always remember your name and in my case, my order!
Edens is a great little place for breakfast, lunch or dinner; so if you are ever in the neighborhood be sure to check it out.
Mom and I stopped here on a shopping outing today. She had one of the lunch specials ... a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a tuna salad sandwich. Both were pretty good. I had a cheeseburger, fries and a cup of chili. The burger and fries were decent, though I wasn't expecting to get mayo on my burger. The chili, however, was most decidedly from a #10 can. I tossed most of it away.
They seem to do a good business there. Lots of people in and out. The prices are decent for what you get. I might stop by some time in the future, but I don't see it as a regular stop.
I go here for one thing, mainly, and that is their chicken gyros!!! YUM! Something about lamb gyros bothers me mentally, not sure what. I felt I struck gold when I found their chicken gyros! Their fries are great, also! I've heard they do a decent breakfast, one friend of mine likes the strawberry pancakes in particular. They remodeled the place in 08, and it's much cleaner looking and modern. Be careful, it gets packed around lunch hour and hard to find a seat.. Usually after 1pm is when the crowd thins out... Go for the chicken gyros, you'll love it
Review Source:I work not far from Eden's, so I came here for the first time with a couple people who already went here for lunch before. The place is almost across the street from the Sauganash area Whole Foods on Cicero. Based on the seemingly endless stream of people coming, looks like a great lunch spot. In the 30 minutes we were there, I saw maybe 15-20 school kids, suit & tie types, and even construction workers with orange vests stop in for food.
Eden's has a really small eat-in area consisting of 4 booths and 3 tables in the middle, but it also has an outdoor seating area for nice days. The interior is very clean, the menu board looks new, well-structured and easy to follow. Eden's offers breakfast, lunch and dinner selections.
While I chose the half-pound cheeseburger, both my colleagues chose the gyros. From the look of their platters, I should have done the same. My burger was awesome too, don't get me wrong. Even the edges of the patty were seared crisp to my liking. The burger was larger than the bun, and it was loaded with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. No disappointment at all, but the gyros just looked so hot and fresh that I should have ordered it instead.
The food came quickly too. Seemed the gyros only took 2-3 minutes from the time we ordered. My burger took a little longer but very reasonable wait time. They are well-staffed and the orders just keep coming.
I will definitely make this a regular lunch place in lieu of Backyard Grill on Devon, since service here is so much better and it's not as expensive.
