The Elephant Thai Cuisine

Currently my favorite Chicago Thai restaurant...flavorful fresh authentic Thai food in a pleasant storefront with fun elephant-themed decor.  Terrific nam sod, lad nar and chicken basil.  Plan on sampling many more menu items, although it is tough since the ones i've tried already are so good i want to repeat them.  My niece and nephew introduced me to this place for lunch one day and i have been going back almost once a week ever since.  Very warm and welcoming place to grab a delicious bite;  super takeout also and if you live nearby they will deliver to you!  Service is friendly and efficient.  Good prices.  Family friendly also, lots of little kids and babies made to feel very welcome.  Wonder if they could do something about the way the front doors work as you do get blasted with cold air whenever anyone new comes in...FIVE STARS.

Consistently great food.  We do a lot more take out than dining in because it's a little bit tight inside and the cold air comes in whenever someone opens the door.  But we probably do take out 1-2 times a month.

On a positive note, their panang and mussaman curry dishes are very good. not great...but better than their noodle dishes.  their pad sie eu and pad thai (in my opnion) are very bland.  i'll still drive to Thai Pastry on Argyle and Broadway, for the BEST thai food in town.  

i guess, if you worked in the area, and absolutely HAD to have thai food, it'd be okay. but please don't go out of your way to come here. there are much better places.

They are closed Sundays...which is weird.  but more power to them, as it doesn't seem to be hurting their business.
