The "GEM" of Jefferson Park. Â If, you like authentic/traditional Polish cuisine at a great price, look no further than Smak-Tak. Â Quiet, clean and beautifully decorated this quaint little gem on north Elston Ave, in my humble opinion has what you crave for in Polish cuisine. Â The homemade sweet cheese pierogi is my favorite!!! Â The extensive menu (in Polish/English) also offers a daily special. Â Believe me, you get MORE than what you pay for. Â The BYOB is a plus!!! Â The wait staff is first rate and very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Â The staff makes you feel welcome and at home. Â It's like being amongst family and friends for a traditional meal.
Everyone should experience this wonderfully authentic family owned Polish restaurant. Â You will not leave hungry and you will NOT be disappointed.
Wow is all I have to say. I married a Polish born Chicago Polski 20 years ago and have always proclaimed that I do not like Polish Buffet restaurants and I don't. This place is a sit down, server included Polish joint and I will clearly be back. The Mushroom Soup was out of this world and the Schnitzel was as good as my wifes homemade and even better dues to the fried egg on top. If you want good fresh Polish food on the Northwest side you have to come here. Unbelievable!
Review Source:I'm a fan of Smak-Tak. Â Great food at very reasonable prices. Â We started with perogis and potato pancakes which disappeared very quickly. Â Their sour cream is amazing and I have a feeling both the sour cream and applesauce are homemade. Â We also had the Hungarian pancake (goulash inside a potato pancake), breaded pork cutlet, hunter stew and the special French pork cutlet (which looked like the breated pork cutlet but heard it was different). Â The sides are simple but taste great. Â With my Huganian pancake I had a shredded carrot and pineapple salad. Â Service can be a little slow so but that doesn't bother me so be prepared if it bothers you. Â It's a life lesson in patience.
