Ordered two sandwiches. Â Realized when I got home that the turkey was missing from both. Â Additionally, on one sandwich the cheese had the paper that separates the slices still attached to it. Â
Ok. Â Maybe the employee making sandwiches was having a bad day or was in training. Â It happens. However, the woman who appeared to be the manager seemed to laugh with the other employees at this mistake. Never said a word to us. This is not the way to run a business. Â I would have expected an apology - at least from the person who made the mistake. Â
I will not be back to this location.
You might think it's odd that I'm reviewing Einstein's in Glencoe when I live in Highland Park and have the best bagel shops around, but there's this quirky Smart Choice bagel sandwich that keeps me coming back. Regardless of the inconsistent service, hardly-ever cleaned off tables, and always very slim selection of fresh bagels, when I'm having one of those "I'm not so hungry and can't figure out what I want to eat" days, I find their Bagel Thin Eggwhite sandwich made with asparagus, mushroom, and Swiss cheese to hit the spot. Piled with the goods, it's always nice and hot when I get it and it's under $5! I do wonder if it's truly a healthier, fewer calorie option because the bagel is always deliciously doused with garlic butter...or is it butter?
This Einstein's location is cozy and cute, it's easy to park out front, and I love sitting at the umbrella tables outside in the warmer months. But consistent with the other reviews it's sometimes messy in there, and I always end up cleaning a table just so I can sit down. Compared with the Einstein's in Lake Forest or Lincoln Park, both 'eggceptionally' clean, it doesn't really bother me that much. I do think one of these days they should pay for my sandwich though, because I've certainly bussed enough tables over the last year.
The food is the same as all other Einstein's in the chain. Â This is a smaller location and set up differently from most. Â I kind of like it. Â It feels more unique and cozy. Â I agree with other reviewers however that they could be better about cleaning the tables off and working on their understanding of English would be helpful. Â If you come expect the usual Einstein chain fare and a homey atmosphere but be sure to bring your patience for communication purposes.
Review Source:Its an Einstein's, pretty typical but with a much smaller eat in area than many other locations. This is also a hangout for the local kids, so it can be pretty busy after the final middle school bell of the day. That being said, I think they do a pretty good job keeping it neat and tidy given the volume of folks that come through here during the rush. Â The staff doesn't seem to speak a whole lot of english outside the menu offerings, but they have always been helpful and polite, so no complaints there. Do expect a quizzical look if you ask for something out of the box though, since there may be a slight language barrier. All in all whatever your opinion if Einsteins overall, will probably be the same here.
Review Source:Will somebody PLEASE just toss a bomb in this place? I ordinarily love Einstein and yes, the bagels here are just as good as any other Einstein. But the service is awful, the store is filthy, the selection is always meager, and half the staff is illiterate. I go sometimes because it's convenient but I always walk out shaking my head wondering why I bothered.
Review Source:Worst Einstein Bros. Â ever. Â EVER. Â Before I finally gave up on this place, I've had:
-A lox bagel served to me minus the lox.
-A visit where the only bagels they had out at noon on a Sunday were egg and plain.
-3 straight weeks where the espresso machine was down and they couldn't honor their own promotions.
-3 visits where the employees outnumbered the customers and we still had to wait 20 minutes for our order.
This Einstein's has definitely improved from the last time I was in town. Â It used to be kind of disheveled, the kind of place where you have to clean your own table before sitting down. Â Now, it feels clean and organized.
I had a breakfast sandwich here earlier in the week and my Mom had her daily toasted bagel. Â Decent fare. Â Slight communication challenges with the staff, but nothing off-putting.
Good place for a carb fix, kid-friendly, Mother-approved.
