I have been shopping here for as long as I can remember. The first thing you will notice upon entering is how clean the place is. This is a family run business and everyone has a role to play. Gail makes the prepared foods for the freezer and handles the business end. Ed and Mike do their magic with the preparation of the raw meats. You want a work or art- Â get Ed's whole beef tenderloin. Your guests will thank you for it. Mike has unlimited patience when it comes to trimming brisket for me.We also share recipes and I often get ideas on what to cook for dinner! Most things are prepared to order- Â your ground meats are not sitting in the cooler for hours. Call ahead to place your order and it will be ready whenever you like. Do yourself a favor-don't bother buying meat in a chain or the warehouse stores. My mom always told me to buy the best quality you can buy...just serve less if you have to. Almost forgot to mention- Boar's Head hotdogs and bacon. You can even order the cocktail size hotdogs and they will get them in stock for you. Treat yourself and those you care about to the best.....Norshore Meats & Deli.
Review Source:Want fresh high quality meat and your near Wilmette - this is the place to go. Â They cut the meat or ground beef while you wait! Â Don't worry that doesn't mean a long wait as they are efficient and it takes only a couple minutes. If you call in advance they'll have it waiting for you.
The place is very clean and you can watch them hand cut pieces of meat in front of you. Â Not a lot of pomp and circumstance - they focus on fresh high quality meat not a lot of groceries or other stuff. Â
Got some ground chuck for burgers to grill this weekend when company came, they were devoured and got lots of compliments. Â Sadly they only have pre made patties in their frozen case so I had to do that myself but that's not a big deal. Â Don't recall the price except that it didn't seem shocking like some butcher shops.
They don't have a lot of stuff in the meat case but don't let this fool you - they carry a lot they just prefer to cut it fresh and not let it sit in the case. Â Grab a price list to get a sense of all they have.
Noticed an apple blueberry pie in a bag in the freezer case and couldn't resist after the folks behind the counter raved about how good it was. Â The clerk told me to bake it 15 minutes longer than it said especially if you bake it from being frozen - she was right it did take just over an hour to bake. Â It was divine and our company RAVED about it. Â Now I'm addicted and my friends will expect it next time they visit.
This will be my new go to local meat market. Â Absolutely worth the extra stop and little extra cost - it's super clean, carries quality meat and has great service - friendly and knowledgable.
