El Patron

El patron is a great place for mexican food and margaritas. If you like it hot ask for the special hot sauce. Really spicy. Fajitas are good. Chile Colorado is good. Burrito el patron is great. I've tried most of the menu and liked it all. Very nice atmosphere which is lacking in a lot of restaurants in corpus.

Got a great groupon (coupon) for El Patron (still being offered). Good appetizers, fajitas and soup! Had the El Golfo fajitas (beef, chicken, and shrimp with grilled onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, and pineapple). Came with Spanish rice, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. The salsa was tasty. The caldo de camarron (shrimp soup) was delicious with savory shrimp, carrots and veggies in a tomato-based soup with Spanish rice. Perfect for a chilly day! Had the small bowl and was very filling!  Mexican sampler appetizer came with quesadillas, chicken flautas, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Good food and service. The sopapillas were a surprise, though. Were more like fried (flat) flour tortillas instead of fluffy pillows. Sweet, but not the puffy ones I was expecting. Excellent meal overall. :)

For a business that just opened and should be trying to win people over is doing the opposite.  The service is POOR and the food is worse.  Plus the prices are over priced for the size of the plate.  Waitstaff are unprofessional and have a attitude.  The only thing that was good was the FREE hot sauce.
