Good assortment of food, but rather low quality. Â I think I would have enjoyed going to Taco Bell better. Â I ordered carne asada, I don't think they marinated the meat, it was rather tough. Â I found a twist tie in my salad. Â Although the restaurant was not crowded, I felt that the wait staff was trying to rush us out. Â
I plan on returning, every restaurant can have a bad night, but, I will not order the carne asada again.
This restaurant is right across the street from the apartment my mom rented for about 5 years in Vinton, Va.
There were a few times I simply walked across the street to eat here with my girlfriend.
I love the white sauce at this restaurant, it's more sweet than spicy but it's fantastic on rice and chips. Â They used to give you as much of this as you wanted for free but the last few times I've come they give you a very small amount and then charge you if you ask for any more... as someone who used to come eat here all the time I found it to be somewhat irritating but it's only a dollar or two so it's not the end of the world.
The service is usually pretty good, as is the sweet tea, and the food is out pretty quickly.
I typically get either the traditional fajitas (chicken, steak, shrimp) or chicken fajita salad. Â
It doesn't seem like they take quite as much pride in this place as they used to, the servers are more lax, they charge more for the little stuff, and the food quality has dropped off some but it was always a good choice on a night no one felt like cooking.
The only big con is that the parking lot is small so when it gets busy there it's a pain to get in and out of it on Hardy Road and/or find a spot in the back.
One other thing, the wait staff leer at my friends and I whenever we come to eat here on girl's nights which is probably a culture thing since they're mostly all hispanic, not really a reflection on the food as much as the atmosphere but still, it's rude.
