My Dad works there as a cook and those stories about roaches and rats are not true. Maybe your friend was mad because they fired her, (my dad says that waitresses get fired because they are sloooow) eitherway besides the service the food is AWESOME!!!!

I wold never recommend this place, aside from it being the horrible service,  my friend who used to work here would tell me all this rats and roaches stories, and how the only reason they have not closed this place down is due to under the table cash they slide to some of the local authorities! I would never ever eat from here!!!

The food is decent here. Quesadilla de flor de callabaza is excelent. However, we always have very slow service. One time we even had to leave without our order, and we only ordered tamales which they just had to heat up.

My marvelous host insisted on having our morning business meeting here this morning. I insisted I wasn't hungry....until we arrived.

Yum. Huevos con chuletas de puerco. Awesome potatoes, refried beans, eggs and pork chops.

As I told my host, we can have our business meetings here any time.

I had lunch here yesterday with my husband.  We'd had their tacos as take-out once before and wanted to check out eating at the restaurant.

What a find!  There aren't too many tables, but they are nice marble.  The place was busy but not too crowded.  The walls are a mix of exposed brick and nice tile.  There a whole bunch of cool black-and-white pictures from, what I guess, old Mexican movies from the 1930's-50's.

More importantly, the food was great, especially for a taqueria.   I had the enchiladas suizas, great.  My husband got the steak fajitas which were very good.  The pieces of meat were good size chunks of quality meat.  We also got an order of the grilled cebollitas, which were delicious, I could eat just a plate of those.

Another plus is they give big slices of avocado along with the lettuce and tomato.  It doesn't cost extra like at every other taqueria or Mexican restaurant.

The service was very good.  Prompt and courteous.

We will definitely be going back, especially in the summer to check-out their patio.  There's also a small parking lot in the back.

    Check this place out!

    Came here with a <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a> certificate.

Waitress was nice and attentive. Answered my questions.

    We ordered:

Horchata - seemed a bit weak
Some hot drink that was like oatmeal - pretty good
Steak dinner - Flavorful and nice and tender
Steak Burrito - A bit smaller than most places, but still good. I got it with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and told them to put just a little cheese and it was good.
Tamales - I'm not a big tamales fan, but just decided to try them. Got a red and green one. The red one was pork and it was a bit overcooked on the edges. Either it was microwaved or steamed and left out so it started to harden. The pork and the flavoring was nice though. I took the chicken to go and ate that a few hours later and it was good. Not dry like the other one.

The guy at the cash register was nice and friendly. I thought they were having issues with the coupon, but he said no.

Very clean and laid back. Would definitely be back. Only thing was when I asked to get my stuff wrapped, she came back and then we sat there waiting for the check for awhile, but I guess we are suppose to go up and pay. No biggie!

It was 2:30 AM on a Saturday morning and I wasn't in the mood for Huck Finn.  A friend of mine told me that El Rey was open and it was not to far from the place we were at.

Although I have driven past this place many, many times; I never ate there.  I went inside with a group 3 and the service was freindly and fast.  I was surprised to see huaraches on the menu.  I don't find many places that sell them.

The huarache was delicious.  So much so that I will go order another one this Saturday morning....lol  Can't wait!

Good food, and inexpensive too. This place is only a few blocks away, and is a great place to go after a night out. They have an outside 'patio' that I haven't had the chance to try out yet.
The only downside is service. The girls there are not very friendly, and slow.
Also, the place is pretty small and the tables are jammed all together.
I will go back for the convenience.

I was in the mood for a Mexican breakfast and I didn't want to go all the way to Zacatacos.  Our friend recommended El Rey. He said it was clean, great service and delicious food.  I live in the Pilsen area so it's nothing for me to cruise down Archer to El Rey (California and Archer).

I ordered the Huevos a la Mexicana and my bf got Huevos Rancheros with egg whites. So delicious! Really good salsa, fluffy and delicious Mexican rice and the eggs were so yummy.  Nothing was greasy. The coffee was cinnamon-y and delicious as well. The service was fast and friendly and our bill was $13 for both of us. I will for sure go back. Oh! The decor is really cute and it's really clean, not that it matters. I can't wait to try their lunch or dinner!

So once you get out of the club at about 3am in the morning either on a friday or saturday night, then you start to think that you are feeling a bit hungry after all that dancing.

Well that was what happened in my case and I was looking for a place to eat something good and at reasonable price. I found out about this place through my brother who had already gone here numerous times but kept it secret.

Their tacos is the best thing for me. Specially the tripe tacos are delicious. The place is well decorated and fairly new. Waitresses are friendly and always with a smile on.

The best thing is that they close until 4am. which is good if the club closes down at 3 =)

I will definitely come back here to get some more of those tacos.
