We love El Rodeo and it is a favorite in our rotation of places to dine. The staff is very friendly and attentive from the moment you enter. The chips and salsa hit your table almost as you are seated. It seems they read your mind, because as soon as I know what I want, the server returns to your table. I usually have the shrimp tacos in flour tortillas. They always arrive very hot and so tasty. My husband prefers the beef or chicken burritos and is never disappointed. My 18 year old son orders combination plates which to our delight actually satisfy his hunger. Our daughter loves the shrimp salad, served with avocado. Â We have never been dissatisfied with the food, service or atmosphere at El Rodeo. It's our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area!
Review Source:This place is all about detail and attention. Also a great food.
The place smell and look very clean, even the bathrooms you can see that they take care of cleaning frequently.
The food is great and the attention from Rafael, Jennifer and the rest of the team is superb..I travel for business and every time in town I always visit this restaurant.
This is what service and attention in a restaurant means.
I ordered the Chimichanga and told him no sauces ...but it came with red sauce that I didn't think tasted good...so I asked for it differently and our server was very compliant. Â Â And since I really don't like veggies in my chimichangas...he suggested ground beef. Â Good idea!!! Â It was good! Â My partner had an enchilada and a burrito. Â She has finally has decided she likes flour tortillas . Â So it will be burritos from now on! Â Our server was very patient with me. Â And the salsa was awesome! !! Â I had a medium Margarita ---DELICIOUS!!! Â And my partner had several Pacificos and they ran out ...sadness...she had to switch to Dos XX...
Victor our server was very nice to me...I appreciate that so much
I'm picky about my Mexican food... this place has it. The chimi was full of the most  flavorful, moist, shredded beef, rolled in a flour tortilla and fried just enough to be crisp but not greasy. It is topped with a very tasty (freshly made, I suspect) red sauce. It was served with tasty refried beans, salad and guacamole. The service was speedy, friendly, and the meal including a drink was less than $10 for dinner. I definitely recommend this place and will go again.
Review Source:What can I say? Â El Rodeo has everything that you are looking for in a restaurant. Â Excellent service, friendly people and the food - delicious! Â We have been visiting this location for years, but haven't been for a while, so it needed another look. Â I would have to recommend the chorizo tacos. Â They had just the right amount of "kick" and the meal was a great value, too. Â We had the pleasure of eating outside, which, with the music and cuisine, made us feel like we were on vacation! Â Â Keep up the great work!
Review Source:I cannot believe I have never Yelped this place. Â It is seriously my FAVORIT-O Mexican restaurant in Indy....it was so sad when it burnt to the ground. Â But it is BACK and better than ever! I cannot believe how beautiful, fun and updated it is. Â It's twice the size and the bar is incredible! Â I was so blown away at my visit this week. Â I took my Beach Bum team in for lunch and we all had wonderful authentic fresh meals that came out faster than ever. Â The cheese dip is awesome, the fajita chicken salad is my favorite with juuuuuui-say chunks of chicken and not too greasy. Â
I love the large glasses that they refill endlessly and the staff is always great.
Rafael the owner is so honest and helpful, friendly and excited about his business. Â I absolutely adore him and his new place!
If you are in the area, you cannot miss this Mexican restaurant!
Had a terrible experience last Thursday. No host ever showed up to seat us so we went into the bar and seated ourselves. Mistake. Got a waiter who ignored us. Wife ordered a spinach quesadilla that ended up being just a tortilla folded over some cold, undrained freezer spinach - no evidence of cheese. I ordered a combo that included a "chile relleno". The "chile relleno" included only a little piece of chile about one inch square-and the stuff the chile chunk was sitting on tasted very much like it was mixed with  Velveeta. Waiter admitted this didn't fit his definition of a chile relleno but said "I have told them this makes people mad but this is how they do it." Won't be going back.
Review Source:This is probably my favorite El Rodeo location. The restaurant is nice and brightly decorated. I am really pleased that they re-opened.
The food is good and reasonably priced and the service is always friendly. I could really live without the hostess spraying perfume in the entry way. Â It gives me a headache and I want to smell the yummy smelling Mexican food.
I will also have to agree with poster Clay W. that the Cozumel salad really good.
Have been going to the Carmel El Rodeo for the last 5 years. And it's been consistently great. I have my favorite dishes that I order over and over I can think of just one time, out of dozens when I felt like my meal was not up to snuff. It's great to go to a place where you can count on getting exactly what you expect in terms of quality and quantity.
Also, the food comes out FAST! Which is great when you're visiting with a couple of squirrely, hungry, young kids.
All the servers are super friendly and attentive - the chips and salsa come out before you even have a chance to open your menu.
Favorites off the menu: Great guacamole and I love their shrimp tacos and the seafood burrito.
I want to cry!! I'm so happy you are open again! this has been a fast dinner staple out for me and my family since it opened. The food is always great, camerones ala diabla, pollo toluca, chori queso, pollo asada, carne asada, steak & cheese burrito's etc etc etc. Always great service from the staff, who usually remember our drinks. In my opinion the probably have the best Ultimate El Rodeo Margarita on the Rocks anywhere. My god are they good and they come in 16oz, 24oz and a 47oz. Needless to say I love the 47oz. I asked Raphael one time, why the margaritas were so much better than most other places and he took me in the kitchen and he showed me a large glass refrigerator that was full of gallon jugs and in those gallon jugs sat all the top shelf ingredients with fresh squeezed lime and homemade simple syrup. he told me those jugs will sit there for at least 3 to 5 days so all the flavors get to meld together before they serve it. It makes sense kinda like how a good lasagna is a great lasagna the next day. It's definitely more americanized Mexican but its good and good all the time. They always lacked a good bar area but now with the demise of Cork & Cracker and the Westons dry cleaners moving over a full unit, they now have a more than ample bar to accommodate some more of the late nighters. It was a sad day to watch you burn but it was a real happy day to see what the ashes turned into. Not to mention now at 6'3" and 260 pounds I can fit through those little walkways because now they are much bigger.
Review Source:We have been going here for years now! I have known Rafael since I was in High School. He runs a clean, efficient facility. The service is top notch.
The queso is the best around. The margaritas are strong and the beer is COLD! I like pretty much everything here. For salads, I like the Cozumel Salad. It has shrimp, avacado, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. No dressing; you don't need it. The Pollo Toluca is another favorite with chicken and chorizo with queso on top and a side of rice and beans.
They are great with kids and do a great little gift for kids birthdays! You will love this place! They have A LOT of regulars!
Lunch prices are cheaper than dinner. The cost can get up there at dinner; but you get what you pay for... in a good way!
It was alright. We have had better and worse, but we would go back sometimes. I would give it 3.5 stars
I ordered the chicken chilaquiles which came out looking sooooooo good. It came either rice and beans, and were chips covered in a ranchero sauce, shredded chicken, raw onion, raw green pepper, diced tomato, and a little cheese. A lot of food and even after eating a lot and what seemed like forever, I had hardly made a dent. It was pretty good, but the chicken definitely needed seasoning, it tasted watery-like out of a can?
He got the #15: burrito and taco with sides of rice and beans. He really enjoyed it, but said the sauce on the burrito tasted more like a pasta sauce and not a traditional Mexican red sauce. Also he ordered all chicken, but the taco came out with beef. The waiter never came back to our table, which meant he could t get it fixed, so he was unable to eat the taco.
It was alright, good atmosphere, not great service, and decent food.
Great Mexican food. Beyond that, the staff is excellent and seem to be the same cast every Friday night (our special night out for Mexican food). We've been going here each week for at least the last 2 years, and you always see the same wait staff--that counts for a lot, I think. Good, quick service, great humongous Margaritas (if you choose), and good value for what you pay.
