I've only been here once or twice for some concerts. The layout for such was rather similar to the Royal Oak Music Theatre. You can get as close as you want with general admission to the stage. I think it's a fine venue and there's parking all around it.
It's really far from where I was, and now even further, so I doubt I'll ever go here again, unless a MUST-SEE-NOW band comes into Emerald Theatre.
Went to the Emerald Theatre last night for a Bone Thugs -n- Harmony concert. Â The place has potential, but my experience was rather mediocre. Â The drinks are watered down, too expensive and they need to have some type of food avaliable for customers. Â You can't serve drinks all night and not even have pretzels or pizza to soak up the liquor. Â I wouldn't go back unless this place was under new management with some sort of food options available.
Review Source:I was here for an event Toys,Tats,Tots and I was surprised that i liked the place so much. You cannot drag me into here on their notorious dance nights, but this place was actually fun. Tip numero uno: Go to the upstairs room for drinks, they're cheaper. And that's where the party is usually at.
Review Source:I had to shoot a commercial in here and when I first arrived i was not that impressed. It was pretty divey for a venue. But when we were shooting on stage I found that it is a good place to perform for a show. But I think the only reason to come here is for good shows. Later on at night the place turned into a club, and I definitely don't think that is was cool for a dance club. The crowd wasn't that cute either.
Think of Emerald Theatre think of shows.
*parking sucks
What I like about the Emerald is that it hosts a number of events, and not simply dj/dance/band events. There's so many places in Mt. Clemens that do that. It's a nice change of pace from the Post and the Hayloft.
Last night I attended an Art Battle - basically two dozen or so artists bring their gear, are alloted a certain amount of time, and make a piece of art on  a theme in front of all the patrons. There was a lot of talent there. No stick figures here!
Another thing about the Emerald - they must have the best security staff in town. I'm used to being strong-armed by buffoons at places like this, but they were up for just shooting the breeze. (I'm sure their job gets pretty boring...)
First floor bartending staff I can't say the same. They were pretty snotty, and much more of what I'd expect at a high volume club. Â
Also, I'd make a suggestion to buy your drinks in the Rock Room upstairs instead of downstairs. The Rock Room has decent music, great staff, and MUCH cheaper drinks (why the drinks are cheaper upstairs, I have no idea.) Downstairs I paid $4 for a beer, upstairs I paid $2.50. If that's not enough motivation for you to trek upstairs, then I don't know what is!
Well actually, if you get the chance say hello to Janna in the Rock Room. You can't miss her ;)
This place is a club inside of an old theater. It's a neat venue that can hold a lot of people. But other than that...
If you want a good looking woman/man with an ounce of sophistication -- turn away now. This place is not for you. Guys rocking the Jersey Shore look (overly tanned, a whole slab of gel, with their butts hanging out of their pants, and a button down shirt for class) and women rocking the slut from hell look (wearing clothes that they grew out of 20 pounds ago, tons of cheap black nylon, hooker shoes, and the glorious hair poof). Each to their own.
The DJ was awful and horrendously obnoxious. The mixes and selection were not great. The tables and chairs could've been in a dive diner. The drinks were cheap but weak.
Tips:
Show your college ID on Saturday nights and don't pay cover.
Go to the "rock" lounge and see the hottest bartender there (gorgeous blonde that is dressed in the bare minimum but actually looks hot in it).
Go here if you are under 21 or want to meet a chick who is under 21
