The best hookah service Ive ever had. The people who run this place REALLY figured out how to perfect a hookah lounge. They offer tobacco free hookah which is perfect! still lots of smoke and tasty. Dont be  a hard ass and going straight for tangeriner youll feel sick unless you're used to that kind of tobacco intake. Music is AWESOME. the couch set up KIND of sucks but Im sure theyll fix that later. Other than that ill definitely be going back and taking my friends from school!
Review Source:Probably one of my favorite hookah places near Los Angeles.
***CASH ONLY***
SERVICE: The customer service is excellent, friendly, and always easy to talk to.
HOOKAH: LOTS of flavors to choose from. The hookah is pretty good, some flavors get harsher quicker but let the employees know so they can try to fix it for you. The only thing I don't like is the $5 additional charge for the 3rd person in your group.
DRINKS: $1 can sodas/water or free if you check in on Yelp.
ATMOSPHERE: I like it. It's the "Hollywood Hookah" but without the bs. You get your music videos, coals refilled, dim-light setting, comfy couches and chairs, and chill people around you.
RESTROOMS: Clean
Empire is my go to hookah lounge. I've been to many hookah lounges, what makes this specific lounge different from other lounges and bars is that they carry mystique ice tips, and they serve two lines of different shisha (tobacco) one of them being Tangiers which is good quality tobacco, and haze. They also carry Shiazo, which are steam stones , which is a good option for people who don't want to smoke tobacco. The prices are very reasonable. The 2 guest special is honestly a good deal. It includes 2 drinks and a bowl change. On weekends there is cover charge of $3. The lounge itself is a very relaxing place to smoke, it plays really good music and they have movie nights. Its spacious for a small lounge, and the workers are very chill and easy to talk to . Also Empire kind of doubles as a smoke shop, they carry bowls, hookah pens, the Kaloud Lotus and Chronic Hookah coals. ( which btw most smoke shops don't carry, only online stores carry them.)
Review Source:Had no idea this place was in my little city. Very cool vibe, they play great music and have music videos on flat screens. My boyfriend and I got sat in the vip area because there was no room in the main room. The vip area would be cool for a group of friends, but was kind of boring with just him and I because you're secluded. Great service, very attentive and one of the workers sings every song as he seats you, brings drinks, coals, etc which is entertaining. They carry Tangiers which gives a bit of a head change, I like ;) If they served alcohol I would probably come very often, too bad. Another bummer is that they only take cash. Other than that, had a great experience.
Review Source:what i love about this place is :
- there are so many choices and flavors for hookah
- the hookah set dont get harsh
-amazing vibes and very comfortable sofas
-staff refills coals often ( you never really have to ask them)
-good music and great sound system
-parking lot up front
-good place to just chill and have a good night
the only dislike i had was that they don't give you a receipt nor tell you what you are charged for ( so i had no idea what they charged me for )
I've never visited a hookah place around rowland heights, mainly in West LA and Orange County. But if I had to compare this place is pretty subpar.
There are no tables to set your cheap drinks but only the floor to set  your hookah. As some reviewer mentioned the usual price for one hookah is 15 but on weekend nights they add an additional $2 fee per person.
They have good old and new school hip hop music playing with tvs to match.
The place seems grungy and clearly the hookahs are not cleaned regularly. I do like their funnel bowls and well-burning coals. But because of their overall lack of cleanliness, I wouldn't come back here.
Love this place! come here probably every other weekend. It is pretty hard to find, Which is why I like it.(it's right next to Domino's) It's Secluded and chill! Music is great, Service is okay there was one guy in particular who provided great service, I think he was the owner other than that great place!!
Review Source:I always go here whenever I'm in the area and me and my friends are in the mood to hookah. The hookahs and the flavors are pretty good we usually get something minty+something fruity. They're always milky and taste nice and the "vip lounge" is definitely a better place to be seated. The only downside of Empire would be the slow service and the blinding tvs.
The usual price for one hookah is 15 but on weekend nights they add an additional $2 fee per person.
Oh man this place can be your favorite hangout spot if you can find it. Its hidden in the corner of a Korean plaza in Hacienda Heights, near Boiling Pot. My friends and I went there today, and after some searching we finally found the place. They have a convenient ATM machine located inside of their store so a person can withdraw money for an amazing hookah experience. The hookah itself is smooth and tastes wonderful, my friends and I got the Brambleberry and Grapefruit flavors. Although the Grapefruit was a bit sour, i seriously recommend anyone that goes here to get the Brambleberry, its fruity and made me and my friends continuously wanting more.
The service was very chill, they have a 23 dollar for two guests deal where  two people can get one free refill of whatever kind of sheesh they want, and two free drinks. We went with a group of four, and had a great time. When we had to go they reduced the price for us because we didn't get the free refills of sheesh, so basically what was supposed to be 46 dollars ended up only being 34 for a 2 hour sesh of great hookah. I seriously recommend anyone to go here if they can find it.
Like everyone else says, the place was hard to find, so I had to call them to find where it exactly is.. There is no sign and all the glasses are tinted. The server was welcoming, yet a bit slow in checking up coals and other services. I've tried a couple of flavors there and some get harsh really quickly.. On the other hand, I got lightheaded in a short matter of time. It was $15 per hookah for two people. Music was good, but a little too loud.
Review Source:Came here with friends to chill. This hookah lounge is kinda hidden. Its in the corner of this small plaza with no signs and tinted windows (yes, kinda shady...). They have a good amount of couches and chairs. Â The atmosphere is good. Its dim, good music, flat screen TVs, and comfy couches. There was 5 of us and we ordered one hookah with tobacco and one without. I forgot which flavors we got both they were both good. The one with tobacco was really strong and the one without was nice and smooth. Both were good though. I was with the one with tobacco most of the time so I was super light headed by the time we finished. My head was spinning. We had a good time though.
Oh yeah, check in on yelp and you get a free drink.
I honestly do not know how so many ppl have given this place such high rates. I have been to various hookah lounges/bars and this has to be the WORST one by far! The place looks super tacky, couches and seats are not even comfy. The actual hookah itself burns very quickly and is harsh from the start (mind you I have tried a few different flavors on different occasions).
The service is pretty decent, however, I was also  disappointed to find out that there was no food served here and just a hand full of drinks to choose from.
One positive would be that the mix of music is they play is actually pretty good. Other then that I would not come here again unless they were to improve the overall look of the place and the quality of the hookah. I hope they do improve since this is the only hookah bar that I know of in the Hacienda Heights area.
I frequent Empire Hookah Lounge often, maybe three times every couple weeks, and every time I go the experience is just as good as the last. Â Along with the great atmosphere, the service and selection of Tangiers shisha is always up to par.
The lounge is scattered with flat panels that play music videos of all sorts; this paired with comfortable couches and chairs makes for a very relaxing experience! Â The mirrored walls are very intriguing as well, it makes the place look very spacious, and it is just that. Â
This is definitely the place to go to wind down after a long day or to get the night started whether it's with just a friend or a large group.
Definitely come to hang with the regulars. Lots of cool people come through. Always a chill spot with music and an amazing variety of flavors to choose from. Now including tobacco-less smoking! This is the only hookah bar in the US to carry this special brand imported from Germany. No tobacco means no head change. Great for those of you who are straight edge or allergic to tobacco. Smokes amazingly, just like Tangiers.
Review Source:Came here with a friend to try this place out. Kind of had a hard time finding this place because it was so hidden. The place was pretty chill, there were a bunch of groups and it was just my friend and I so it didn't feel too "fun" I think if you go there with a group, it'll be more satisfying. The tobacco was pretty strong, and the service was really great. The only bad side about this was it was a little pricey for two people.. idk if the guy ripped us off or not but he charged us $20 which is expensive to me because I've been to other places that only charge $10. Probablyyy won't come back here unless it's with a group.
Review Source:The place was a tad bit difficult to find, as it is in the very corner of the shopping center in a small corridor, and there are no signs on the outside. Other than the address.
The service was decent, except for the fact that it took them a while to bring our drinks, but we weren't really in a big rush to get them. The atmosphere is PERFECT! Dim lighting, comfortable couches, and chill music.
I went in with 2 other friends on a Sunday night, and ordered up the group special. (1 hookah+1 refill+2 drinks) We ordered Tasty Peach which started off good, but it got harsh rather quick. Our second batch was Fruity Pebbles which I believe is a house blend, and I must say that it was absolutely fantastic. The taste was pretty spot on with the name, and it was smooth right up until the end.
I will definitely be coming back here.
This was my first time in a hookah lounge and it wasn't what i expected.
A friend heard of this place so we decided to try it out. When we got there the place look really good they had good music and the lights were perfect. We order our passion fruit hookah which was really good and we also order a couple of drinks which we never got. I have to say the waiter there never bother to ask us if we were OK or if we needed something else. I'm definitely gonna gonna think twice before i decide to go there again
besides this place being kinda sketchy without any signs outside the tinted doors, this place is pretty chill.
nice strong tobacco -- definitely can't take big hits here. nice flavors! we got some sorta fruit mix and vanilla. we double fisted that thing and it was preeettyy good.
service here is impeccable! just as we walked in, the guys that worked there immediately came over to help us. while waiting for our friends to arrive, we were periodically checked up on, asking if we were helped. super nice!
atmosphere is nice, with nice comfy couches and sorta arranged in a way where you're amongst other people but with your own group -- and endless music videos; a blend of some pretty old hiphop songs (~5yrs or so?) and the current new ones.
will be back!
This is my favorite hookah bar to go to in the area. The service is great and they have many premium flavors to choose from. This is also the only the few, exclusive hookah bars that serve Tangiers tobacco. Definitely recommended for anyone that wants to try some nice new flavors and relax with friends while listening to good music.
Review Source:So i decided to check this place out since it's local. It was such a disappointment.
When we walked in, we walked right into a swarm of flies. I was very disgusted at this point, but the people I was with wanted to give it a try anyway. We went on a week day and right when it opened. There wasn't much people and the place was a mess! It seemed like plenty of people had been there right before we walked in, but that wasn't the case. It was completely dead. The couches had holes and were very dusty. I felt like i needed a shower real bad as soon as i left the place. I liked the music they played, but that was about the only thing i liked about the place. Hopefully they can change things up and be more sanitary. Not for my sake, but for theirs. I really hate to see places go out of business.
I've been to many hookah lounge before when I was living up north. Â I wanted to go hookah again and hang out so we looked this place up on yelp and gave it a shot. Â
To be honest this place is very dirty, it looked more of a stoner hangout rather than a hookah lounge. Â Couches felt very sticky and the restroom was even worst. Â There was puke all over the toilet seat which I can tell has been there for a while since its all dried up.
They offer a variety of blends and specialty blends. Â The smoke is good at start but gets very harsh quickly. Â They also charge for ice in the hookahs.
Compared to the hookahs I have been to up north, this is not what I expected from a place that has such a high yelp review.
Pros:
Good price
Great tasting hookah
Friendly staff
Relaxing and clean environment
Cons:
Staff doesn't come around to blow out ash of the head unless you ask
Difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area
Parking isn't so great
Overall:
Its one of the nicer hookah lounges I've been to. Everyone is seated on a couch & hookahs are placed on coffee tables.l, so you never have to inch around hookahs to walk around. It's a small, intimate setting too.
The coal baskets are wrapped with foil, so the floors aren't ashy. Ladies, you can put your bag on the floor and it wont get too dirty like other hookah bars.
My only complaint is that the coals are too big for the hookah. I believe they use precut coals... and w larger coals, the heads burn faster.
I have been smoking hookah for over ten years and been to great places in SoCal and NoCal. Â I have been to lounges that had a great vibe, but bad music. Â I also been to places that had great music, great vibe, but was a hell hole. Â Empire was awesome.
Empire very is hidden and make sure you have the number handy if you can't find it. Â Empire is down the alley between the mini mall facing Halliburton and on alley side the two story OK Asian restaurant. Â They need a lit sign to show where they are during the night for you will miss it the first time looking. Â
However, once you are there, it is truly a beuatiful gem. Â The lighting was perfect and the staff was great. Â The choice in tobacco and there home mixes are great and are at a reasonable price. Â The non-alcohol drinks and choice of bagged snacks are ok.
One of the key things for a lounge is music they play for many lounges I have been to recently have played to much angry rap, metal or other extreme music and that can ruin the experience. Â Empire owners are smart, they mix it up and play a mix of party and club rap, dance music, and some slow songs so that you can get amped up for the club, or keep the flow going on your sexy romantic date.
The crowd was mixed with people in 20's, 30's and 40's rolling in and out. Â Defiantly recommend this place for first-timers and long timers for they did this one right.
This has got to be the top hookah spot in LA county. Cool music, cool ambiance, excellent service with great pipes and a wide selection of flavors.
Its indoors so that was a surprise. Theres several TVs blasting a pretty good selection of music, especially those with good videos. They have this whack rule that puts a limit on how many people go to a pipe, but we haggled a bit and they were cool with letting us go one man over...as long as we bought drinks, which we were gonna do anyway. Win-win baby.
Seems like it would be a great place for big groups. Excellent hookah, excellent ambiance. Hit it up.
A friend of mine used to work/ help out here so me and my pals hung out here a lot. located in a weird, hidden, alley-like location but its worth it when you find it.
Ambiance: is really nice here. Dim lighting, music turned up, nice cushion-y velvet loungers, royal ruby painted walls, and big tv screens with music videos playing. It seems like a small room but surprisingly it doesn't get all nastily cloudy in there filled with unventilated smoke.
The hooka: I forget all the time but I believe its 10 bucks per hooka, there are a lot of flavors to chose from and is good for like 3-4 people. There are more expensive ones but I haven't tried them yet. I don't think I've every had a harsh smoke here in all my visits. Everything is really clean and they also provide sanitary individual mouth guard and all that jazz. My favorite flavor is sex on the beach haha yum yumm!! They also have some simple soft drinks and water you can order too. Bath room is tidy and clean.
Overall a great experience and I would recommend this lounge to everyone :)
I LOVE HOOKAH. And this place is my favorite hookah spot! Â They have a bunch of comfy couches, flat screen TVs that constantly play music videos and a nice chill atmosphere. Â Awesome place to go to just kick back with some friends and relax! Â They have hookah starting at only $9.99 and the most expensive is $15.99...so if theres 4 of you, that's only $4/person!
Just keep in mind...IT IS HARD TO FIND because their "Empire Hookah" sign doesn't light up at all...look to the left of that restaurant (forgot its name) and you'll see it tucked away.
Brought my beautiful girl here after dinner to relax and smoke some hookah. Â
This place is tucked away in the back of the shopping center, which makes it even more cool. Â The couches were very comfortable. Â Not crowded at all. Â The lighting was nice and dim, but not too dark. Â It sets a good mood ;) Â The hookah prices were reasonable, and the hookah lasted forever! Â This is the only hookah place I have been to that doesn't force you to buy more things in order to stay longer. Â We ended up chilling there for about 2 hours and no one bugged us to buy a refill or buy more drinks. Â
My only complaint is that they should check on the coals a little bit more often. Â When our coals burnt down, we had to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to bring out more coals. Â However the relaxed atmosphere and being with the most beautiful girl ever made it a great experience.
Discriminating hookah smokers, this is your spot. Â As others have mentioned Empire is one of the few (only?) hookah bars to carry Tangiers tobacco, which is entirely a cut above any of the Starbuzz/Al Fakher/Fumari stuff that the other so-called high end places pass off as their premium tobacco. Â Furthermore, the atmosphere is relaxed, the people are friendly, and the lounge is clean, well arranged, and features a good array of flat screens strategically positioned around the room.
I don't smoke much hookah anymore, but when I do, I come here.
Note: Despite the smoke eaters in the ceiling, cigarette smoking is outside only.
You know, i'm not one to hit up a Hookah place to often, but out of the couple dozen places that I have been to, this one is the best. Â The inside itself is open, roomy. Â Awesome couches to lounge on and they ALWAYS have good movies playing.
I've been there for a few live music shows and they always came out sounding good.
Their hookah prices are pretty cheapy and they have alot of flavors to wrap your mind around. Â They also got a little lounge off to the side for more of a private group. Â All around great tucked away spot.
