I've ordered take out and delivery and have never been that impressed with the quality of pizzas.  Always greasy, over-priced and lacking flavor.  The sauce is too sweet, too.

Portion sizes were not impressive for desserts, and their cheesy bread was just bread and cheese without any seasoning - it didn't have much flavor at all.  Sauce was served cold.

This is our favorite pizza place in the area. The service is great and the pizza is fantastic.

I love going to Erbelli's.  The lunch buffet has a wide area of pizzas.  I get to try many different foods in one trip.  They normally have soup and some pasta on the bar as well.  Sometimes they have chicken fingers as well, which can break up the rest of the food I'm eating.

I really like their Chicago style pizza.  They cook it long and slow.  Sauce on the top, just the way that I like it.

Their Erby bread is very good as well.  The finacee loves it!

I've had their subs before and they are pretty good as well.  They are big and very filling.

I've only ordered pasta once.  I probably won't get it again.  The ziti I got was a little spicy for my tastes.

The big drawback is the price.  Yes, it's gourmet pizza.  We don't get it often, so I can bear the price every once in a while.  If it was a few bucks cheaper, It would be a place I would eat at least once a week.

I can't remember a bad meal there.  This Erbelli's is much bigger than the original one on Portage Rd.  If you are going out for dinner, get their early or expect crowds and lines.

Went here for the lunch buffet, which people from work were raving about. It reminded me of the lunch buffet that many Pizza Huts do, but that's the rub: shouldn't an establishment like Erbelli's be able to reasonably improve upon something done by a charmless nationwide franchise?

There's a lot of waiting around, and the ordering window concept just means you'll be on your feet instead of relaxing. The variety of pizza toppings at the buffet was great, but the ingredients themselves were rather bland. I also found it odd how the crusts were so inconsistent; some were soggy, some crisp, some burnt, few just right.

The food and experience is not something I would classify as terrible, as indicated by the 2 stars my brain felt like rewarding the joint. Try harder Erbelli's. I have faith in you.

Good pizza. Unique. Not awesome. Definitely waaaaaaaaaay overrated. It was $16 for a small deep dish. I decided to give it a try because I heard a lot of good things. They have interesting combinations but that's it. The new Domino's is better quality. It's not very deep dish. The crust is average. The only positive was the interesting herbs on the crust. For $5-6 it would be an awesome small pizza and beats the pants off of Little Caesars hot-n-ready. Not going back.

Is anyone else COMPLETELY TIRED of constantly seeing five star reviews from new Yelpers? I get that Yelp ratings are important, but it just looks like Erbelli's has asked all of their friends to create accounts and write reviews. Only 12 reviews (three of which will be filtered any day now) but 52 filtered reviews? It looks sketchy.

Besides this, I like Erbelli's. Four stars because the food is solid, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable.

We're on a pizza quest. Every Saturday night we explore the Kalamazoo/Portage area in search of a decent piece of pizza. From the tremendous reviews we'd thought Erbelli's would be our stopping point, but sadly our search continues. Our pizza was greasy! The toppings were fresh and the crust was decent, but yikes! The salad was horrible - a mass of wilted lettuce. We had such high hopes for this high priced pizza, but they all fell terribly short.

Been here once & would love to come back because there was so many different and unique pizzas to choose from! It was so hard deciding what to order - everything sounded wonderful. Can't remember the name of the one we ordered but I would describe it as a "stoner pie". It had mushrooms, chicken I think, ranch, frank's red hot(!), pepperoni maybe. IDK, so many delicious things anyway. And we got some sort of wonderful cheesy messy bread. Had great service too, and beer! The noise level was a bit much in here as all the tables were pretty squished together and there were a lot of kids there at the time we went.

I went for the lunch buffet as suggested by other yelpers and I was utterly dissappointed.

Firstly, there were only six pizzas to choose from and they weren't even that special. One pepperoni, one sausage, one meat lovers, one veggie, one double layer pepperoni, and one hawaiian.

Secondly, the pizzas are about 9". meaning they run out super fast.  I got there at 12:00PM, by 12:15 the place was packed.  Very inconvenient for people in a lunch rush.

Finally, the pizza's aren't delicious.  The tomato sauce is too thick and too sweet.  They don't use enough spices to give it a unique flavor.  It's like they went to Domino's Pizza, ordered a bunch of sauce and brought it back to their restaurant.

People on here are saying to try the breadsticks/ cheesy bread, my response to that suggestion is WTF people???? If i wanted to eat something salty and oily I'd eat Snooki from Jersey Shore.

This place is not the place to go for lunch.  Place is crowded, not enough food, and food isn't good enough for me to wait around.  All in all save your money and buy a $5.55 Little Ceasar's Pizza, it's hot and ready to go just for you!!!

Some of the best pizza I have ever had.  Everything from the bread, to the calzones, to the pizza is fantastic here and the prices are reasonable.  They also have a great lunch buffet, which is the best pizza buffet I have ever been to and was only $8.  This is a MUST go Italian Bistro!

Stopped here based on the recommendation of the winery down the road.  Driving in, it does look like much... just a hole in the wall strip mall eatery.  And it is a casual kind of place but the food was excellent.

My wife had the Picante Pesto Chicken Pasta, and thought is was great... and she makes her own Pesto, so she knows what she likes.  I had the Fettuccini Alfredo Pasta with the "Q It Up chicken".  The pasta and sauce were very good, but I thought the chicken was too hot.  In fairness, they warned me it would be spicy.  I like spicy, but not when it detracts from the rest of the flavor and all you get is 'hot'.  It's always tricky when you ask someone 'how hot is it?'.  The question is ambiguous and the answer is so subjective as to be useless... unless you know the person's taste.  We also had what they call an 'Erbatizer' of Bruschetta with Pesto, which was very good.

All in all, an experience worthy of a return trip.

A word to the wise... we got there a little early for dinner, and got one of the last two available tables.  By the time we left, prime dinner time, the parking lot was full and a long line was waiting.  Be prepared if you go at prime time.

The pizza is great and the breadsticks are wonderful. My favorite part of Erbelli's is the pizza buffet at lunch. It's got a great selection of great tasting pizza and other treats. The menu here is massive and everything I've tried has been delicious. Definitely check this place out.

Last night was my first trip to Erbelli's and I was impressed.

To begin with, this place is huge.  There are many table and would be great for large groups.  Our server was very polite and very efficient.  She always kept our drinks full and brought out our food while it was piping hot.

They have a huge selection of beer, wine and other drinks.  I had a Shiner Bock and it tasted as good as it did when I lived in Central Texas.

We started with a order of bread sticks.  These were the best bread stick I have EVER had.  They are thicker than sticks at other places and the order is huge.  One of the best parts of the bread sticks is the marinara sauce they are served with.  It is warm and spicy.  A great combination.

We decided on a hand tossed pizza with their roasted red pepper and onion mix, ham and jalapenos.  The red pepper/onion mix was incredible.  It gave the pizza a hint of sweetness.  This combined with the hotness of the jalapenos, the marinara sauce and the crisp crust made this pizza my favorite in Kalamazoo.

I cannot wait to return to try one of their many specialty, signature pizzas.

Okay, I only review places I love. I am not a tomato eater. Erbie bread is perfect for people who love garlic, cheese, pizza crust, herbs but don't want to have the acid tummy that tomatoes can instigate.  It's really really really good, and I don't have to special order a pesto pizza or anything. It's already on the menu and under $10 for a very decent size pie.  Yum.

We waited two hours for a delivery order, which can be expected when ordered around lunch hour. Come to find out the person who took my order never did anything with it. The problem occurred when I contacted the restaurant and the manager was very accusatory that the error was on my end. Problem is I called from work and our calls are recorded; so my original call placing the food order was recorded. They never processed my order or did anything with it when I called it in originally. I can understand the error, as mistakes happen, but the manager should learn a thing or two about customer service; that is don't accuse the customer that they did something wrong if you are not able to back it 100%! Additionally, their employee lied and said it was en route to being delivered when I called back at the hour fifteen minute mark! They were only willing to comp the food after I had to ask for it. There was no customer service extended nor did they care about their error.

In response to Mary Z.'s comments
There are many places that are cheap to eat in Chicago (if you travel outside of the "loop"), the hard part is picking one. Carmen's on Sheridan has a buffet for $5.95 it is decent (better than Erbelli's) and the food is always HOT.
