I'm pretty good with dive bars and can deal with skeevy, but honestly Erin's tops them all. The clientele is okay, depending on the day. It seems like the more I go the more the older people get replaced with stumbling drunk and vomiting 21 year olds. That is definitely a turn off because I don't go there to hear the college guys try to out drink each other while the girls flay all around because they're so drunk, I go to have a drink and enjoy my time.
I think this new atmosphere has a lot to do with the new younger staff that has been brought in. It's very obvious that the people sitting at the bar drinking are friends of these bartenders. Which translates into another problem: crappy service because they're too busy taking shots with their friends and laughing at their drunk friend stumbling around.
Erin's serves bar food, not that I will ever eat it because their oven looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it opened. The pot that they keep their chili in is crusted over with old chili and induces vomiting. I regret sitting in front of their food prep area because I was just grossed out.
The only thing Erin's has going for it is their St. Patrick's Day celebration, which is the only reason it gets an extra star.
What a great place to have some drinks and people-watch. The crowd on a Friday night is enough to make the place feel fun, but the bartenders hustle and there's not too bad of a wait for drinks. Also, they run karaoke, which is fun to watch, and with enough liquid courage, I can be persuaded to make a fool of myself with the microphone. It's all good, though, you can't take yourself too seriously, especially at a low key place like this where the crowd is made up of soldiers, locals, fat drunk chicks, cowboys, and every walk of life on Earth. The reference may be lost on most, but being here reminds me of the karaoke scene from David Byrne's 'True Stories.' Anyone?
Review Source:I've probably been to Erin's a hundred times since I've lived in El Paso. It's reliable in the fact that you can usually find a decent crowd here Thursday-Sunday. The drinks are hit and miss, sometimes it seems like you go through five before you're feeling anything, sometimes it only takes two, just depends on the bartender. As often as I've been here, I don't really get treated like a "regular," which is kind of frustrating because that's why you keep going to a place like this, oh well, it is what it is.
Service is usually good, even when it's packed. If you can't get a drink outside, the inside is usually dead so head in there, fill up, and head back outside.
Let me just say, if you like Karaoke, this is your place. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood for it, but have somehow ended up at Erin's and it's kind of annoying, sometimes it's fun to watch the randomness of performers, sometimes you get some really good singers, just depends on what you're into. It's constantly Karaoke night at Erin's though, and if you want to sing you should probably put your request in before 10pm because it's usually fully-booked by 10:30-11pm.
They call it a bar AND grill, but all they're really able to serve is microwavable burritos and nachos and the like, basic stadium type food. Definitely don't come here looking for anything more than something you could pick up at the gas station across the street.
Pretty much the defacto dive bar on the Westside and is a whose who of former Franklin and Coronado grads as well as UTEP students.
St. Patricks day here is always a blast as are their Karaoke nights. Â Spring through the Fall at Erins are a blast as they have a great outdoor patio that's always a great place to unwind and have a drink or smoke.
The bar is pretty typical and their beer selection is pretty terrible, but I can honesty say Erins is one of the more fun hang out spots in El Paso that doesn't require you to get all dressed up, and completely avoids the downtown snob crowd where people get way over dressed to pack into small ass room and have rave music blasted all night.
I had a roaring night here guys!
 Â
The karaoke DJ is pretty good and after a few brews, i belted a song out to my newly adopted little brothers, Raul & Angel. yes, it's all caught on camera..omg!
Mixed crowd and always packed at the end of the week plus bigger than what it apprears from the street.
Erin's is a little divey, but I like it a lot. Â It's usually the place I meet up with old friends when I'm in town. Â I honestly can't remember how drink prices compare, and they do have a rather limited food menu. Â They have pool and shuffleboard. Â There are times when we are practically the only people there are there are times when it is PACKED. Â Once there was even karaoke!! Â But it's always low key and I always have a good time.
