OK, it's Bob Evans. It is not meant to be fancy, exclusive, or different. It is the same restaurant layout, the same menu, the same uniforms, and the same Chinese-made pieces of junk lined up for sale by the register. I get all that when I go in. And getting all that, I'm okay with this place.
I have frequently been in this Bob Evans with my elderly mother. We have always had quick, friendly service. The coffee cups are refilled quickly. Dishes are cleared away appropriately. The checks have always been correct. The food is decent. If you want to make a small substitution, it's easy.
We like the breakfast items mainly. The breakfast variations with eggs are good. The western omelet is good. The chicken pot pie is very good. In fact, they sometimes sell out of the chicken pot pie, it's so popular.
The one thing the menu does not have is vegetarian options. There's a whole list of hamburgers - would it destroy the Bob Evans brand to offer a veggie burger? How about steamed vegetables? How hard would that be?
There is plenty of parking. It's Indiana. There are even a few spots located close to the entrance for persons who are picking up carry-out meals.
Finding this Bob Evans location could be very difficult. It is located, along with several hotels and chain restaurants, along a winding road that is very confusing to follow. I've been taking my mother here for years, and I still have to think, which stop light are we turning at? There are so many strip malls, shopping malls, and big box stores along this stretch of Route 30 that it's very easy to go wrong.
Getting out of this Bob Evans is even tougher. You've got to follow the road around and then go left at the Post-Tribune building to get back towards the mall. Otherwise, you're going to follow that road until it peters out halfway to Crown Point. It's very easy to get turned around and lost. GPS comes in handy here.
Bob Evans is a good, solid option for breakfast or lunch. We have never gone for dinner.
It's a Bob Evans. Pretty decent breakfast food. I have found the Bob Evans chain to be reliable in providing a consistently acceptable breakfast and this location is up to par. Way better than Denny's and Perkins. Moderately better than Village Inn. Probably my favorite major chain for breakfast.
They have a good selection of options and the food is of good quality for an affordable price. I like their eggs. I love their biscuits with the clover honey offered at every table.
This particular location is a bit difficult to get to and it is even harder to get back to the highway, so that part is not very good at all.
