My 30 year old husband introduced me to this restaurant, he's been eating here since he was 8 years old. But sadly while the food is below average and could be a lot better, the service is what really got on my nerves. Our waitress was not the most friendly person and would not smile to save her life. One of my biggest complaints is the staff just STANDING AROUND!!! Literally looking over your shoulder and watching you as you eat. There is nothing more rude than to be watched by multiple employees while you eat your dinner. If I was the owner these people would be put to work or fired. Very disappointed. If I'm going to eat out I will not be wasting our fuel or money on eating here again.
Review Source:While over in Greeley we made a special trip down to LaSalle to try this place out after hearing advertisements on the radio previously on how good it was. We got here around 6:15pm and the place was not that busy for a Saturday night which seemed a little odd. The chips and salsa was ok but nothing special. Not very many combo meals to choose from and specifically said no substitutions period.
I had a chicken burrito with green chile, the chicken consisted of cubed chunks which was absolutely bizarre and hard to eat in my opinion. The green chile was ok but barely enough on the burrito which was a negative for me. The spanish rice was very good and that was the only thing in my entire meal I really liked. The beans were nothing special. We ordered a soapapilla after seeing a review on Yelp on how good they were. Ours was a huge disappointment, simply a triangle piece shape of dough with NOTHING on it. No cinnamon, sugar or anything... worst one I have ever had period.
Each of our meals with a drink came to between $9-$10 each. I think this was one of the least satisfying mexican places I have ever eaten at in my life. Maybe the locals love it but truly a major let down for us, none of us liked it or will return again.
I'll make this fairly short and sweet, if you're from around here you've probably heard how great this place is. My guess is that it was once great but they got tired of working so hard at it and started cutting corners.
The food was "okay" nothing really screamed handmade or quality. Chips and salsa were pretty rough and the staff was rather unhappy and even argumentative with one another.
It's to bad, the building is great, even if it is a little hard to find being tucked behind another building.
This isn't cutting edge Mexican - this is large plate lots of food Mexican/American. You don't go here for a culinary experience, you go here because it's decent food at a good price with good service. This is Old School for the area and needs to be treated as such. Don't expect fancy.
Review Source:If you grew up in Metro Greeley, you probably ate here a lot. If you liked the food in 1990, you will like it today. If not, meh.
It may be nostalgia, but we still like the place. We like their nachos. Their guacamole is pretty good. The portions are huge for the price. It's nothing fancy, but it is not that bad either.
Horrible~
I need to admit up front that I was born and raised in Texas. I was raised on Tex-Mex so I am a bit partial to spicy. My wife is from Greeley and talked about how great this place was.
Started off with Nachos. basically Velveeta on top of tortilla chips.
Salsa is bland and no spice at all.
Service was friendly and it appears we were the youngest people in there. I guess this place has been around for ions judging by the crowd. I got the beef enchiladas and I would rank it right up there with Casa Bonita. Not good at all.
Highlight is the sopapillas. They were hot, sweet, and fresh! guess it is hard to mess up fried bread.
I give two stars based on the fact the service was good and the place was clean.
I won't go back again on my own free will but I have a feeling next time we are in Colorado my wife will insist on it.
I haven't been to the Farmer's Inn in Lasalle for a year at least, but the last time my wife and I went there we vowed never to go back. Â This is not Mexican food at all. Â You might get more authentic Mexican food at Taco Bell. Â I think this place is still in business because of the good reputation it had 20 years ago. Â I think most of the customers say it's great because they haven't been to any other Mexican places in the last 20 years. Â Try Cazadores in Greeley or even the Armadillo just down the street from this place.
Review Source:I really wanted to like Farmers Inn but it was not meant to be at all. Their chips and salsa was good. Their Tostadas were good. Their dessert were good. The problem then? The burritos. The meat tasted really funky. Almost......medicinal? Like.....Iodine? Where did this beef come from? Straight from the Swift plant in Greeley from up the road? Sadly this funky tasting burrito ruined the meal overall. Next time I am in La Salle I will go to the original location of the Armadillo.
Review Source:This is not my neck of the woods, but we went to see the BF's mother and landed at the Farmers Inn for Mexican. I let the guy order since he said he wouldn't steer me wrong.
We got the stuffed sopapillas which were fantastic! Portions were huge. Mine was loaded with tender chicken, beans, and smothered in tasty green chili, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. I did think the chili could have been a lot thicker, but overall rich in flavor.
We ordered the fried strawberry sopapilla for dessert with vanilla ice
cream. Not at all heavy, yet sinful and delicious. It was large enough for all six of us to share. Worth the trip!
