SO worth the trip down south. I was invited to this little gem by a dear friend who simply said, I found a place with your name all over it. Of course I said lets go!
First of all this place is much more then a cafe. It is a working nursery with beautiful gardens you can explore at will. The antique shack and barn are something out of an old movie and begs you to enter. I found some hard to find plants and grasses. All very affordable. I would go back even if the cafe wasn't so yummy. Speaking of the cafe, it is in an old farm house and the kitchen is exposed if you care to look in. The food was very good and fresh. The service made me feel like I was at my grandmothers house and I should go curl up in front of the fire when done eating. I look forward to many trips to the farmhouse in the future.

We came here during a trip to Brown County. It's a little off the beaten path (maybe a 15 minute drive from all the typical Brown County stuff), but definitely worth it.

We sat on the patio, which was awesomely decorated with plants and garden-y things. I had a turkey sandwich with bacon, cheese, some type of delicious herb spread, and some other stuff....huge sandwich that was absolutely delicious. He had a BLT which he said was pretty excellent as well. Both sandwiches came with legitimate fresh fruit--not a dish full of honeydew melon, but nice berries, apples, etc. It was definitely a highlight of the meal. We intended to have dessert, but we were too full to make it happen.

After our meal we walked around their property for awhile. Lots of beautiful plants and gardening supplies. The inside of the restaurant  also had things for sale (home decor, some food-related items, etc.)

We would definitely, without a doubt return to this place on our next trip to Brown County!

I was looking for a lunch place on the way to Nashville IN and this place sounded like it might fit the bill. It's a great concept: a cafe in a restored farm house adjacent to a nursery.  Talk about atmosphere!

I sat out on the patio even though it was 100 degrees because I loved the mismatched patio tables.  They have beer and wine but on this day I ordered iced fruit tea with my beer since it was so stinkin' hot out...the tea was very refreshing while not being too sweet.  Had flavors like cherry, peach, pomegranate.

I ordered a shrimp and avocado salad and the HB got the chicken salad sandwich.  What struck me is how fresh the food tasted. You can see the pix I posted; it doesn't get much fresher than this.  The potato salad was SUPER good, with lots of fresh dill in the dressing. In fact, I could've had a lunch of just potato salad. I find it pretty challenging to get healthy food in restaurants but this place was a homerun for clean yet tasty food. I'm sure there are people who would be greatly disappointed by not having a giant hamburger with fries, jalepeno poppers, and the like from which to choose...however for me, this place was a welcome relief from the typical small town fried fare.

The inside decor is quirky and cozy, with special kudos to the multicolored chandelier.  Love that thang.  Bathroom was clean and gives a glimpse of the kitchen in the next room.  Once you see the kitchen then the food makes sense. It's a real house kitchen and you can just feel why they find it so important to serve fresh, unprocessed food. It's just so homey!

    High five!
