The Fieldhouse Pub

We came here on a Saturday night to hear a colleague's band play.  I'd passed by this place several times but never really paid much attention to it other than thinking how nice it was that they had a free wi-fi sign out front.

We pulled in the lot around 8:30, and it was pretty crowded already. Little did we know, it would get even more crowded once the band started playing.  The sizeable bar is right in front of the door with another dining area to the right behind the bar area.  Restrooms are directly behind the bar, which makes maneuvering a little hard when there is a crowd.  The Man and I grabbed two seats at the bar and perused the menu.  It looks like we got the pub menu and their website indicates they also have a regular dinner menu.  I opted for the Italian Sirloin Steak Salad and the other half got a bacon cheeseburger.

It took a few minutes for the bartender to make her way back over to us, but she smiled and took our orders, delivering our drinks (beer and a soda) within moments.  We waited probably about 10 minutes or so for our dinners to arrive, which we sort of expected since there was a pretty big crowd starting to gather by this point (easily 50+ people were there at night).  We were starving, barely coming up for air as we ate. My salad was pretty big with a generous potion of sliced steak on top. The mozzarella was obviously fairly fresh, and it came with just the right amount of dressing to play up the flavors without drowning them out.  The burger was juicy, with a really nice flavor - it tasted like beef, not like crazy spices or seasonings.

I can't say I was overwhelmed by the food, nor was I underwhelmed by it.  What it comes down to is this: the burger and salads were good. It wasn't a bad meal by any means, but it certainly wasn't memorable.  Solid food, decent prices.  I would definitely go back again if I happen to need a meal while I'm in the area, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here simply because it's still a bit of a trek from home.

Walked in just before 9 pm on a Friday, walked out 30 seconds later, Mostly because it smelled bad.  Secondly because no one seemed to care that we wanted to dine, and thirdly because a band was setting up which would have made conversation impossible.  No thanks!

I got a groupon, and I pass this all the time so I was excited to try it.  My husband, 4 year old son and I went on a Thursday night for dinner.  We got 2 glasses of house wine and a bottle of root beer.  The wine was good.

The bread came out, it was warm and good and the best part of the meal.  Next out was the calamari, overcooked and tasteless.  My son ate the most, he complained that is was too chewy but he was ok with it.  The sauce that came with it was also tasteless, I could have been eating a rubber band and may never have known.

The salads came out, or I should say the dressing with a little lettuce under it.  We got bleu cheese dressing and my salad was drenched in it.  My husbands had less, but still way too much.  Luckily I love bleu cheese, but it was hard trying to scrape the excess off to get the lettuce.

My son had grilled cheese, he liked it despite it being burnt.  

My husband got the lobster ravioli, he said it was ok but not great.  He ate the whole thing so it was at least edible.

I had the steak fingers and garlic toast.  Completely inedible, I spit out 3 pieces before finally giving up.  The steak was almost all fat, and the sauce was very salty.  The toast was ok with the sauce, but even that could only go so far.  At that point I had had enough and didn't bother asking for something different.  I probably should have asked for more bread, at least I could eat that.  

My sons meal came with ice cream but we passed, I doubt they could mess up ice cream but he had ice cream home and by then I had enough of the place.  I was very upset with the quality of food.

As far as service, our waitress was very nice and did a good job.  I have no complaints on the service part of the meal at all.  Had any of the food been good I would have gone back to try again for the service, but unfortunately I can't give them a second try.  The server was also great and attentive.  I really wish I could say the service made up for the food, but it did not.
