Me and a couple friends stumbled in here because the old line popped up from one of the two Alamedaens in the group.

" Hey I've always seen that place but never gone in "

Naturally after having a sushi dinner we walked right in.  Low and behold we were surprised from what we found.  We were totally confused by what the theme of the place was but that's kind of what made it so cool.  It was part dive bar, sports bar, pizza parlor, Mexican restaurant, tamale truck, speakeasy, biker bar.  Whatever they were going for it worked for some reason.  We ordered a round of Jameson's from the bartender who was really nice but not to knowledgeable about the differences in whiskeys and scotches.  A couple of our requests stumped her but luckily we all love the Jameson.  As we sat and appreciated the ambiance along with the A's game a guy came out of the back and asked if were interested in the food.  We told him we just ate but we were curious about what was good.  He simply said "have you had the  steak special?" We said no and he basically talked our heavy set friend into ordering one as it was only 13 bucks.  The steak meal itself didn't look like much but when he bit into the steak we saw the look on his face that told us we needed to try a bite too.  What happened was basically a 3 way foodgasm.  Right there we were sold and immediately discussed our return trip.  That return trip is happening Wednesday the week I write this review.  Take a guess what the 4 of us are going to order that night.

    We can't wait.

Last resort hang out with friends and family. Not into bars, clubs or lounges - prefer a low-key place... like at a quiet house. Lots of old faces from the TOWN. Always bumping into someone there. Good music, nasty restroom, lots of seating, parking sucks, and always someone drunk and ret@rded! The only reason why I'm giving it a 3-star is because I know I'll end up going back there for someone's ocassion.

Went because we heard Mama Rosa was here and open - old Acapulco cooking.  It's the same food and recipes, same taste, some of the same staff.  Even had the same Number 5, which my husband always ordered in the past.  We had been going to Acapulco since the late 50's and once moved even drove down from the Chico area to eat there once in a while. Were really bummed when they closed their original location.  Now, it's back!  Hopefully, they can get better tables etc., to serve their fabulous Mexican food.  Thanks to the Fire Den for allowing them to be there four days a week.  Plus that there is now a full bar.  Will definitely be back.

    Small and very run down!

Bathrooms are disgusting. One barely flushed, the other was clogged and over flowing. It was comparable to using a port-a-potty.

I dont know why anyone would but, we asked how much a bottle of Henessey was and the bartender said $175. I could buy five of those at Costco.

    PROS: pool table and karoke.

People would probably come for the friendly hot bartenders or because they know some regulars' names. My friend and I ordered Corona. We got dried (like they had brown color on the rims) limes. I could barely squished three drops from a piece of lime. I asked for so many limes and I got the same results. When I gave the bartender and trainee money, it took them like ten minutes to give me back my change and I got two fives for a ten.

The place is dirty. I couldn't even pass the salt on the table to my friend who was less than a foot away without having the salt container tipped and almost falling.

    YO ALAMEDANS! Alamedians? Alamedons...

Have you come to welcome the newest addition to Fire den? MAMA ROSE. Yes, Acapulco enthusiasts, it's time to rejoice! My dad found out that they started serving a small portion of their menu at Fire Den and HAD to go with some friends and he was SO HAPPY to find that it's the same exact food as our beloved Acapulco. My dad as well as many others would probably not set foot in here if not for Mama Rose. No offense to the management but it's just not our scene and sometimes we rather not go into a dark, smoky place, often with questionable people standing outside at random hours.

****Yelp take note that I DID eat from this establishment and my review is not just word of mouth from my dad. This is my own experience eating their food and I am in no way connected nor know anybody personally at this establishment, but my dad is just so happy that I can't stress enough how great it is.****

The food is the same delicious food that I remember eating from so long ago. The salsa is a little spicier but still great! We had a sampling of their menu tonight from their tacos, child verde, enchiladas, rice& beans, and mama rose's burrito.

The hours for Mama Rose are NOT everyday! We tried calling yesterday, hence dinner tonight.

Grungy bar. Not that I have anything against grungy bars, they're usually fun. Anyways, Fire Den is OKAY. I only came to hangout with some Alamedans, otherwise it's not my scene.

PS. The coke and pineapple juice were pretty watered down...
Where's the fizz in the coke?!

    Very Strange Bar...

They had a DJ on a Saturday night, but it didn't look like a single person was an Alameda local.

Peculiar decor and on a Saturday night they had Fishing up on the big screens.. Fishing?

Bartender was quick with a drink, but not going back.

This was my place to go for beer and pizza. Not sure what happened, but the beer tasted the same, but the pizza was off from what I remember. I did realize they have been experimenting with different items on the menu to most likely compete with other businesses on Park St. but they should stick with what they are good at.

Service was very good, and staff was friendly. No complaints there.

The atmosphere was cool, and plenty of seating with many T.V.'s for viewing while enjoying my food. This is a very good place to watch the afternoon game, and enjoy a beer.

If I could recommend something to the owners: Don't try to be everything to everyone! Because then nobody wins.

Casual bar with several tvs on all walls. They have happy hour EVERYDAY! I usually go there for happy hour, to watch some sports, drink a pitcher of beer (of course, not all by myself), order a large pizza and a side of crinkle cut fries. Pretty reasonable priced drinks and food. Their happy hour prices are good for bar bites, large 1 topping pizza, pitcher of draft beer, well drinks, lemon drop, and coffee patron.

Bartenders are real nice and the atmosphere is real chill.  Once in awhile there are some biker/trucker/zztop looking men there but they're cool too.

First things first: they serve food here?! Why wasn't I informed of this when I was here?

A good friend of mine booked the place with another one of her friends for a joint birthday bash. I've often driven/walked past the place, thinking that it was the dive-iest dive bar I'd ever seen in the Alameda area. Turns out that I wasn't too far off from the mark.

The first thing you notice when walking in (aside from the burly bouncer at the door) is how dark the entire place is. You can barely make out the back of the place -- it goes back a lot further than it looks like it does from the street. Scattered tables, booths and benches litter the area and there's a wooden "dance floor" for when they turn the music up (it's nothing more than a square in the ground).

When I went, the bartenders were very nice, if a little impatient. There were a lot of thirsty 21-25 year olds in the joint, all needing their attention, so I made sure to order quick and get out of their way. I also noted that the owner of the place was actually also there, hanging with a few people that it looked like he had brought with him. I actually thought he was some random creeper who had walked in off the street at first until I overheard someone say that he was the owner.

Oops! Nice to know that he was there keeping an eye on things, especially when one of the birthday girls (not my friend, but the other one) ended up passing out and had to be carried out (literally, one guy had her under her arms and the other had her feet) and taken home.

It's pretty much your run-of-the-mill dive bar. Nothing really sets it apart (other than the fact that you can rent it for big events). I'd go again if there was another event held here, but I don't think I'd stop in randomly for a drink.

Fireden is a chill place to hang out at night and the music is always great. I love hiphop, rap, and rnb and this place does a great job with the music because they do not play trance, techno, and house music (not my cup of tea). Shout outs to the djs Aaron and Calvin for doing their thing and being such an awesome dj and to my bartender Miss Lovely Justina!!! If I don't want to travel to SF or SJ to go clubbing, Fireden is my place to dance my ass off. Nice little dance floor with AC running and plenty of seatings if there isn't a private party going on. I haven't tried the food here yet but I will definitely update on that when I get a chance to.

Great place to watch a sporting event!  They sure don't lack for TVs here...

I can't vouch for the food here, just the drinks, but a lot of it was being ordered in my short time here.  I did peruse the menu, all good bar staples, and was impressed with the prices.  Even the steak dishes were under $10.  $4 pints will sure pack them in as well...

The crowd here is friendly enough.  This seems like a family-run place, and the bartender while I was there was cute, friendly, and efficient.  I'll definitely be back...

I came here for a friend's birthday party. The place has a typical dingy bar look to it. I came before my friends party started: The music (country) was blasting way too loud. Dance floor is tiny, crowd kinda dead. Of course it was on and poppin' once my friends party started, but as a bar in general it's just blah.

A good place to chill and have a drink. I've had many friends who have had birthdays done here and were a success. Staff is very easy going, and you can have fun on this side of the bay without having to drive to the city.

    Bartender- Nice, friendly
2nd Bartender- Not-so-nice, meanie. Her description: Brunette(Avoid her)
    Dance floor- SUPER teeny tiny...
    Overall...not bad.

the bartender was really nice & got my drink right even though it seemed like she'd never made it before (although i'm sure not many people order a chambord & sour at a bar haha).

the music was below par and the crowd was definitely not for me. the age ranged from young 21 to the oldies 45+. For a bar, though, not bad.

It was super dead when we went at 11pm on a Friday night.

WARNING: If you are brave enough to venture into this place and sit down, BE SURE to avoid the really tall, really skinny white brunette bar tender. Within the couple of times I've visited this place, she's done nothing but scowl at my company and I as we watched our play off games.

During my last visit, she took it a step further by standing there, hunched over and glowering at me, and asking if I was "actually going to order anything", and insinuating that I should leave minutes after I had just ordered two large pizzas. I took this as a direct insult, as I was dressed nicely, and this was the most blatantly rude service I've received in years.

If you choose to patronize this establishment, do yourself a favor and steer clear away from this cantankerous amazon. She really shouldn't be working there; she should be throwing her sharp elbows on a WNBA court.

Aside from that, this place is great if you want to eat cheap and greasy pizza as you watch the game in a dark and dank room filled with professional bar flies who are pushing sixty like a stalled Suburban on the freeway.

Update: This place has turned into an Asian nightclub. If you're into that kind of thing, or you want to know what it's like to be in a room swarming with hyper-masculine guys, go ahead and swing by on a Friday or Saturday night.

This place is aight. Ive came here a couple times for 2 of my friends birthdays after dinner and also my husbands birthday and all 3 times its been coo spot to chill. They have I believe 2 pool tables and occasionally they have a DJ. We went to check it out on Friday night and it was wack....Hella empty, NO DJ so we just walked out. Maybe DJ is only on Saturday nights I dunno. The food Ive never had there so I cant comment on that.

But This place is overall not bad. Id go back.

W00hooo...!!  this is my first official YELP! Review.

Went out there to visit a friend from school, she's the bartender so thanks for the best drinks ever.  This is a typical east bay dive bar if you need a quick drink after work or meet a friend up and talk this would be it.

Drinks:3.5; they have a fully stock bar not alot of hogh end goods but they can pretty much make any cocktail concoction you want. and the bartender also makes good suggestions.

Bartender: 4; Super Friendly, speedy service, knowledgeable, and DTF (down to flirt)

Food: 2.5; decent for bar food..  But if you are hungry I suggest getting a med pizza definitely worth the money.

Location: 3; Park st.  is Alameda's downtown main st.  so it has lots of nice hip restaurants and semi-swanky bars lined up.  But the Fire Den is more of the low key locals get together vibe kinda of place where you can grab a bucket of Corona ($20) with your buddies and watch the game.

Price: 3.5;  Drinks: from $5-$12 for you regular shots/cocktails.  Food:  nothing cost more than $20 bucks including the steak dinner.

Music: 2; I usually don't care much about they play at bars but the night we went the DJ blasted the music way to loud and spins nothing but Hip-hop/Rap or watever he liked?!

Overall: 3; Run by a Korean couple this place is a bit outdated.  the atmosphere  could be good or bad depending on the crowd you run into.

A bar with super late night pizza? I should be giving it 5 stars for that alone!  This place was fun, and had a good friendly vibe, even on Wednesday night, (apparently Karaoke night). It had a great mix of people, from all kinds of nationalities. We went back on a Friday night, and it was all hip hop and a bit of a ghetto crowd. :-( we turned around and walked out right away.

I love the people here, especially the owners. It has a very homey, "Cheers" style feel to it. Most of the people are regulars who seem to hang out a lot outside of work, too. It's also surprisingly family friendly, and the pizza is the best! I have still yet to find decent pizza in Oakland, so whenever I"m craving it, I always end up here.
Full bar, too, and they usually have fun things going on at night like karaoke or a DJ. Plus they have TONS of TVs for your sports-viewing pleasure.

Another Hole-In-The-Wall type of venue, and it's kinda dirty, seedy, and at times, more than not, there are "questionable" type of characters around you.... but that's what makes it a bit different here.

There's a pool table and a competition weekly.  Lots of tvs.  Fully stocked bar.  But what I like MOST about this place is that there's also food on premises.  Sooooo.... not that I come here often, but when we are on a night of going to seedy types of venues, we can drink and eat junk food.  The pizza ALWAYS "smells" good... and when hungry from drinking, well, it "seems" to taste good at the time.

They have salads, finger foods/appetizers, and other items on the menu.  It's not too heavy on the pocket for pub food and it is convenient.

I think their food is also giving Scolaris a run for their money, which by the way, Scolaris is owned by the same owner of Lucky 13.

You can read my Yelp reviews on both Lucky 13 and Scolaris.

This building used to house another Alameda pizzeria, but I will not give that business any publicity ,because they have incompetent children that run the phones.

Over the past year I noticed the pizza promo outside the Fire Den entrance : Medium 3 topping 14'' for $7.99.

As I watched Game 2 of the Giants vs Phillies and noticed the orange and black sputter into a downward spiral , I knew a pizza is what I needed to bring up my spirits. I do not like Shane Victorino.

I entered inside and encountered a crowd that was drinking heavily and upset by the outcome of this NLCS installment. The game played on 8 of the 12 screens. College football and Lakers Vs Jazz exhibition on the other ones.

I scanned the menu and ordered the medium with Canadian Bacon, pineapple, and peppercinis. The lone bartender was tending to the entire room. I also ordered a Bud Light ($2.75 bottles on Sunday) to kill time.

As I watched the bullpen choke, I scanned the daily specials. On Monday and Wednesday they have a $2.00 burger. Interesting. Add extra for cheese, bacon, and fries. That and many other great values abound...

It took about 20 minutes for my pizza. I drove home, saddened by the Game 2 loss.

I noticed that the peppercinis had been mistaken for pepperoni. No big deal. ( but def grounds for being upset if you are veggie yelper). The pizza was big. looked like a large.

It was definitely good. Somwhere between 3 and 4 stars. I could only eat half.

All in all a great option for checking out your favorite sports team.

In closing- I noticed $7.00 PBR and $9.00 Coors Light pitchers.

    Way sweet.

I hate that this place always makes such a hassle to get in and it's always DEAD inside. Three times now and each time the dance floor was empty and the place was just depressing. And making jokes about owning a gun and shooting the ladies is NOT COOL. I'm sure the DJ was joking but I was not amused when I yelled back at him and he said something about shooting me in the eyes. WTF! If you wanted us to leave, then just stop playing your damn music.

This place was alright when it was A-Town, but I'm never coming back to Fire Den again!

I've been in some pretty downright raunchy dive bars, but there is just something uneasy about this place. I was there on a Friday night for the first time about a week ago and maybe it was because our little group was clearly not one of the locals that we got some pretty funny looks. The music is extraordinarily loud from the jukebox for no apparent reason at an early hour. They do have a great bank of TVs, so I am assuming that it is definitely a good place to go to watch sports. They also have a large dance floor and I assume have some fun times with bands and karaoke. Maybe I will try it again alone sometime on another night since so many people seem to like this place.

I'm just doin my part to set the record straight about this place.
The decor, may be a tid bit tacky.
    The bathrooms, a tad shabby.
    The grub, greasy.
    The walls, windowless.

BUT MY FELLOW ALAMEDANS...  This bar has some SERIOUS potential.  A great foundation has been laid for us to build upon:

    1.  BY FAR the pimpest bartenders in town.  I'd put money down on this in any side-by-side comparison. (Though I must say that I've yet to visit the FireSIDE and I don't remember ANYTHING about the Tiki Lounge.  Ooops... Oh yeah... Sorry to break it to you, but I lied through that entire review...  That snake bite, or zombie, or whatever they served us with four straws in it erased my short-term memory completely!)

    2.  One of the best places in town to play pinball (Lately, it's a three-way tie between here, Lucky, and Lost, and lemme tell ya... Lethal Weapon 3 makes the Fire Den seem like much less of a stretch.  (Don't dock it till you try it, jerks!)

    3.  PITCHERS.  Duh!  Pitchers!  Why didn't YOU think of that, right?!?!  Yes, dummy.  Pitchers make the bar world go round (and round and round) and nobody else on this island seems to get that except for the Fire Den.  Holla!

    4. Long bar-top tables and, this is the kicker, enough flat screen TVs to make sports fans' hearts skip beats.  I've never counted - never needed to - but there are enough big screens in here that any direction you look, you've got a great game in your face. In fact, there's no denying that, island-wide, this is THE destination that must hold the record for the most local sports enthusiast diaper changes.  These screens even make the Lions look good.  (Nop.  Never mind.  I take that back.  Not good.  Just big... and still bad.  Really, really bad.)

It's time to revive this Alameda landmark with the spark of your posse paired with the pimps who appear to run this place.  The combination, I believe, will be unstoppable (even for zombies).

All in all, this bar has a bad wrap, but it doesn't deserve it.  Go here.  I do.

So I'm in Alameda for the weekend... nice island by the way - I like your chances of repelling a zombie invasion (all the access points seem to be draw bridges).  Goal of the trip however is not to protect the Alamedians from the coming apocalypse, but to meet my 7 month nephew.  A creature so cute that it makes my eyes bleed.

OK.. so how do zombies and my nephew relate to the Fire Den.  Good question... zombies don't at all (just trying to help ya'll) but infant nephew does later...  Patience!

So after 3 days of domestic bonding, I decided to feed my base emotions and look for a bar to watch a college football game (Syracuse vs Northwestern).

Problem. I am on Alameda island, great for repelling the undead, not exactly great for sports bars.  To make matters worse, the Syracuse football program has worked its way into obscurity over the last 5 years.  Finding a spot was going to be a challenge... it's ok people... we have the technology.

Enter Yelp search + inside tip + Fire Den's sports package.

For those of you not in the know, the folks at Fire Den just installed a bunch of flat screen TVs, a new table layout (it makes a difference) and have invested in one of the mongo sports packages. +1 star

When I asked about the Cuse game, a man with a direct TV remote control materialized, put it on the big screen, added sound and apologized for not being able to provide it in HD.  Wow.  +1 star

There was also a really strange birthday party going on in the back..  Some very somber 11 year old girls sitting around 5 pizzas and some balloons... why not!  +1 star

Add to that a very attentive bartender (what up Marlene) & her mom serving us beers like it was their job... (sometimes they pretend like it isn't).  +1 star

At halftime, my brother in law put in the call and Sissy arrived with infant nephew, unleashing a tsunami of cuteness on the Fire Den. They didn't even card him!  Owner of Fire Den was a champ...nice lady came over and literally rocked him for 45 minutes.  +1 star.

Some "opportunities for improvement": Go all in... if they want to turn the place into a sports bar, then take the carpeting out, replace the weird chandeliers and choose basic décor that is congruent with a sports bar (they have a paper pirate ship hanging from the ceiling).

That's not even worth taking a star away... Service like this is worth 5 stars in itself.  Add the ability to get any game in the country, and I can overlook crappy décor.

    See you at Thanksgiving

Gee, and this is the place I like to get away to... hehehe (sees the bad reviews). Then again, I don't come here very often. I've smoked outside, but I have not been graced with the opportunity to meet the "nagging bitch" upstairs, but generally, if you live above an establishment such as the Den, then smokers and loud, penetrating voices are to be expected! Maybe she feels entitled since there ARE a lot of piggies on this street!! The drinks were good, and I somehow like the decor... the "Fire Den" mural... hmmm....

What can I say about this bar? The crowd here isn't really all that great! The decor is pretty tacky. I wasn't digging this place at all! I felt totally out of place here.

We ordered a pitcher of Samuel Adams for $14. My friend was hollaring at some chick and she offered him a bloody mary which was cool I guess. Other than that, this place is not really that great.

I probably won't come here again.

The woman who owns this place is a complete bitch!!! Shes so fake, give her time and you'll see her true colors. They aren't going too last long.

For Alameda, this is a great new addition! Beer, wine, a full bar inside a pizza place is never a bad idea. I guess it was A-Town Pizza before, yet I had never gone in there, it hadn't caught my eye! From what I can tell, they totally gave this place a face lift. The bar is a nice granite, good quality barstools, and a bunch of them. There are tables for patrons who choose to eat or sit in groups-- don't worry, a waitress will come around to take your drink order, you never even have to get up if you don't choose. Speaking of the staff, they are very nice, accommodating, and personable. The bartenders are fun, friendly and talkative!

About the food, I have only tried the crab and cheese garlic bread and I am addicted! It is so great! The pizza slices are huge and available until late for a nice snack. People are always eating...

They are also watching the four huge flat screen televisions when there isn't live music. Usually, you can catch your favorite sports game or can make a request to change the channel. During the Olympics 2008 we watched every channel that had the games on.

The bathrooms could use a little work. But I'm sure they will get there soon enough.

I also really like this place because you can run a tab there!

Check it out, you will be pleasantly surprised!
