Jazz at the Chimes returned in January 2012, after a 3 year hiatus, with vocalist Ed Reed celebrating his 83rd birthday. The beautiful Chimes Chapel, designed by Julia Morgan, Â was packed! Many local jazz-lovers were saying how glad they were that the series was back and that they loved the venue. Not only is it a treat for the ears, but the eyes as well!
Concerts in 2012 are on the 3rd Sunday of every other month at 2 pm. In following up to my review of the Chapel of the Chimes, Jazz at the Chimes is a lovely way to gradually start off a sunny winter Sunday. Ellen Robinson performed recently, in which my date and I sat in the packed wooden pews in the light-filled room, listening to her croon away to Joni Mitchell and be backed by the most fantastic female saxophone player (whose name I sadly cannot locate!). Â
If you love jazz, love people who know good jazz and want to vibe away in a relaxing environment this is the place to go!
