Friends of ours gushed about this restaurant, as have most of the reviews, but my husband and I had terrible meals here. Â I ordered the gnocchi, expecting fluffy balls and getting instead rubbery blobs that were denser than the vacuum-packed commercial ones I've bought in supermarkets. Â In addition, didn't have the kind of cheese sauce mentioned in the menu. Â Hardly any cheese at all was on the gnocchi. Â My husband's pasta was mixed with bitter greens and lacked salt and was void of taste. Â The wines weren't very good either. Â Maybe it's the atmosphere that people write about, but we've had better meals at Pasta Pomodoro.
Review Source:My husband and I had dinner here for the first time tonight. Â The food was excellent all the way around. Â I had the carciofi (artichoke) appetizer and my husband had a selection of prosciutto and salame, both excellent. Â Then we both had the fresh peas and potato soup - FANTASTIC - with such a simple yet complex flavor that I'm still thinking about it. Â Next I had the salmon and he had the pork "saltimbocca" (prosciutto & sage), both cooked to perfection, other than they lacked a bit of salt. Â When we asked for the salt, it was cheerful brought out to us, instead of being taken as an insult (which happens in too many restaurants these days).
All the wines we tasted were superb and were a wonderful accompaniment to our dishes. Â The service was professional, friendly and flawless, really! Â And, since I'm Italian, I also have to say that I loved the fact that everything on the menu was spelled correctly -- frosting on the cake for me.
The restaurant is small, and very cozy. Â I loved that the music was at "ambient" level and did not detract from our conversation. Â The space is lovely.
We will be back!
Enjoyed our dinner at the bar of this very small restaurant. Â We got in early, at 6pm and was great chating with the staff about wine selection and food. Â Everything was tasty and well prices. Â My only complaints is that when the restaurant did get full around 7pm, it was hard to get staff's attention. Â We much preferred it when we had the place all to ourselves.
