Nick's Lounge

I walked in and felt like I stumbled into a family reunion, but it was more a random selection of 10 to 15 people from the neighborhood. There's nothing special here, just tons of karaoke and everyone is welcome.

This is the best karaoke spot that I've been to so far in the bay. I'm originally from Boston, where the karaoke spots range from hole in the wall joints to really fancy places with only private rooms. I haven't been very impressed with the options for karaoke that I've seen so far in the bay (I've been to about 5 or 6 places). This one had pretty decent reviews on Yelp and it was minutes from my friend's house so we gave it a shot...and I'm glad we did. The only reason I didn't give them all 5 stars is because the place is pretty tiny and difficult to move around. Other than that, they have everything that makes for good karaoke. The drinks are strong and cheap, the DJ is fun and friendly, the crowd is diverse and laid back, and the song options are versatile. Also, I chatted with the owner for a while. He came to introduce himself and sat at our table. He was super sweet. That's what made me wanna come back the most. I visited for the first time last week with my bf and friend/co-worker. We had such a good time that this week we invited all of my co-workers to come out. I'm looking forward to it. See you there!

P.S. They also have a jazz night on Sunday nights. :-)

Ok this place isn't fancy. It's on the small side. BUT if you like karaoke they have it 6 nights per week and it's a lot of fun. Solid South Berkeley neighborhood bar.
