Came here with a group of friends last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I am definitely not a fan of the fact that we can only order 20 wings per table at one time but after hearing why that is the case, it was worth the wait.
Our entire group was starving so in between the two orders of wings, we definitely enjoyed their meat lover's pizza and the most delicious tator tots I've tasted in awhile.
When I think of tator tots it always brings back memories of "hot lunches" in grade school. All I have to say is that they have the BEST tator tots with queso & bacon bits! Yum! The potato bites were perfectly fried and had just the perfect amount of crisp to them. Golden in color, when the queso and bacon bits were added to the dish, it was the perfect combination of crunch and flavor with every bite.
We all enjoyed dinner on the patio. Their patio dining area over looks the parking lot but it didn't matter much because their food was great. If you're looking for some pretty decent baked wings, homemade pizza with a soft and chewy crust and pretty awesome tator tots, be sure to visit them!!
I love Firebird :)
It's a sports bar hidden in the same shopping center as Walmart. It's a great place to grab a drink with friends. The wings are the BOMB :) The staff is always friendly and they always seems to be having a great time.
They have great specials throughout the week. Last time I was there, it was Ladies' Night on a Thursday. They had Michelob Ultra for $1. I usually don't drink Mich Ultras, but for a $1, I'm drinkin' some Mich Ultras.
Pretty good bar atmosphere. Food is preety good, service can vary wildly from awesome, amazing service to the worst you've ever had. I've been here too many times to count. Finally reviewed it just because. Nothing amazing, but nothing too bad either, hence 3 stars. Of the bars in this area it's one of the better ones.
Review Source:New to the Dunwoody area, stumbled upon this bar, did not think it would be modern, intimate and spacious... Great location, great food, amazing service.
Multitude of large televisions are pleasant, but not overwhelmingly loud like most places, it's appropriately dim lighting compliments the dark reds and bar atmosphere. Patio is very intimate and comfortable with cushioned seating.
Food was amazing and the service was efficient, drinks are to die for and will make any drink to your likings.... BEST BAR EXPERIENCE for the low cost. I Â will become a Wednesday regular.
Please read fully before decided to choose this restaurant! Â You may also be a victim.
Fortunately for the Firebird Rotisserie and Sports Bar, and the GM (whose name is on the restaurants website), I am unable to give a negative rating. Â The service was the worst service I have ever received in my life! Â I have worked in restaurants all throughout high school and college. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality, and I have been a manager in a hotel or restaurant for the past five years since then. Â With that in mind, I am not saying I have the best eye when it comes to service, but I am pretty sharp. Â
Service:
I just moved to Atlanta and I do not have cable set up yet in my apartment. Â The Firebird Sports Bar is very close, so my Fiance and I went over there to hang out.
Although I encountered many problems throughout my visit, I do not want to waste any ones time. Â Let me just say that I was at the Firebird to watch the NFL Conference Championship games (both of them) and I neither received anything I ordered on time or accurate. Â My waitress was not very attentive and I had to search for her each time I wanted something. Â Each time, she was at the server station on her cell phone texting. Â After 6 hours of this, I became a bit upset and asked for my bill. When she came back with my bill, I gave her my card and she authorized it. Â I then asked to speak with management.
Manager #1:
The first manager came out and immediately offered me a $20 discount on my next visit. Â He did not ask me if I had a problem or not first. Â $20 off may seem like a fair resolution for someone with half the amount of problems that I encountered or that planned on returning. Â I declined his offer and asked if there was something that he could do about my current visit. Â He said that he will be right back.
Manager #2:
The second manager, who was the GM, had a whole different approach. This man came to my table, put his fist down, and said that I needed to pay my bill and leave or he was going to call the police! It is his job to listen to guests, hear out there concerns and find resolutions. I was doing him a favor by telling him all of the problems I encountered. When I tried to explain to him of my service he then signaled the bartender to call the police. I then told him that I was not doing anything wrong and I had a bad experience with my service. He then looked at the server and asked her very threatening if she was going to pay my bill because of her service. She then said, well I didn't do my best. I then spoke up and said that I didn't think that was right that she should pay my bill. The GM said then this bill must be paid. The GM didn't care about me, nor did he care about his employee, and obviously he did not care about any of the other customers in the restaurant. I have been thinking this whole week that I caused the biggest scene of my life at this restaurant, but after some time to ponder what happened, it wasn't me causing the scene, it was the GM. I'm certain that everyone in the restaurant could hear us going back and forth. After about ten minutes of getting nowhere with the GM, I decided to leave. At this point I had had enough and just wanted to go home. When I tried to walk out the GM got in my way and told me I couldn't leave. He literally stood in my way and put his hand on my chest and held me back from leaving. I told him very sternly that I was leaving and he needed to get out of my way. He remained in my way and said that I was not allowed to leave until my bill was paid for. I then told him that I had already paid my bill prior to him arriving and that he needed to step to the side so that I could leave. He then looked over at the waitress who confirmed it. I then left the restaurant.
Police:
When I was finally allowed to leave the police had already arrived. Â I took two steps outside and they asked me to come speak with them. Â I was asked if I had a problem tonight with this restaurant. Â I then told them yes I did. Â I had a bad experience with my service, asked to speak to management who told me I needed to pay my bill or else and leave. Â I told the police that I have paid my bill and I am very upset by this and all I want to do is go home and go to bed. Â They listened to my problems, asked me if I was okay to go home. Â They then let me leave. Â The police acted with more hospitality than the GM did!
Overview:
I used to manage a restaurant and I appreciate when guests speak up about their service. Â In my mind, you cannot fix problems that you do not know exist. Â In trying to speak up about my service at the Firebird, I was almost arrested. Â I have been living in Atlanta for less than a week and already almost spent a night in jail. Â I am very thankful that the police approached my problems with an open mind and did not immediately assume I did something wrong like the GM did.
I hope this review helps you with your choice of dining options.
I could never understand why my neightbor would be dying to go to this place at like 1:00 am - that was until I went there myself. Â My neighbor has passed his addition to the Chicken Fajita Nachos onto me. Â They are ridiculously good! Â They put rotisserie chicken, peppers, cheese, onions, jalepenos, sour cream...I mean they are loaded! Â I would have to say that these are proabably some of the best nachos I have had. Â I have to be honest and say that I did not really care for the lemon pepper wings though. Â They were way to salty...I felt my blood pressure skyrocketing with every bite. Â You can't go wrong with the nachos though!
Review Source:Its bar food. I give it 3 stars, everything is exactly what I expect for bar food. Problem is my wife has fancier tastes, and while firebird has fancier menu items, the quality of those items remains down with that of the bar food. So called "filet tips" were nothing more than some cut up chunks o PO roast (not bad IMO, but not worth the $16.... stick with wings, burgers, fried cheese and draft beer and you'll be fine....
Review Source:I love this place. Trivia on Friday nights is really fun. There is one damn good waiter there that I always try to grab. He's big and tall and always a pleasure to be served by him.
I wish the menu had more healthy options.
One time I actually threw-up in the bathroom from an awful salad that was obviously rancid, luckily she took it off the bill. Usually that would be enough to steer me away forever but somehow I keep coming back. I haven't ordered a salad since, but the rest of the food is good. Great sweet potato fries and burgers. They are accomodating too, many times I've taken food back because it's wrong or over-cooked or a wrong bun is on my burger but they always fix it.
They should add some healthier options, I understand it's a sports bar but the little ladies that eat their with their boys need some options!
We had a great time here. Â There were lots of people in today as the former hockey fans from Atlanta were getting together for one of the last times. Â The staff was great and participated in the happenings. Â They put up lots of Thrashers stuff around the bar to make us feel at home. Â Thanks for a great time and some great wings. Â Tasty! Â We even had corn dogs!
Review Source:Well hello, quasi-burbs, I like your food and beer! Â Though your bar is not baby friendly (yea we were "those" people) we still had a lot of fun. Â We watched people build a beer tower and enjoyed Dora the Explorer on our personal tv.
I drank too much to remember what I ate, but it was delicious none the less. I know we were all very picky about our food and they were very accommodating - that much was easy to remember.
I definitely recommend for a nice bar (with decent food) in the area.
To be honest, wasn't expecting much from this place. So, I ordered a burger for safety's sake. BOY, WAS I BLOWN AWAY. Maybe it's because I hadn't had a burger in quite some time, but it was fresh, juicy, and cooked well.
The cheese fry appetizer left a bit to be desired though - pretty boring, which I thought was impossible to do. The onion rings also had a "freezer to fryer" quality.
Based on the burger alone this would have 4 stars, but the other stuff pulled ya down, Firebird.
This restaurant, while at a disadvantage for being so far out of the perimeter (in my ITP-centric opinion), has definitely carved a niche for itself in my urban culinary landscape. Â And that niche is deep fried food. Â Aside from the astonishingly good fried green beans and deep fried Oreos, this place is just like any other somewhat-divey sports bar in the suburbs of Atlanta. Â The strip mall location, the casual crowd, the dirty bathrooms...you can find bars like this across the country.
But deep fried Oreos? Â That's special.
Another reviewer said that most aspects of this bar are slightly above average. Â I would have to agree for the most part. Â I'll preface by saying that I have recently joined a kickball team, and this is our league bar. Â When we show up, 30+ people after a game, the service is understandably a little slow, but the servers and bartenders are fantastic. Â They always seem to be in a great mood, and my order is always right.
Price is average. Â You're not getting a steal, but you're not being over-charged. Â The food is okay. Â Nothing phenomenal, but definitely a good eat.
I guess that's sort of the sum of this bar. Â It's a nice place, but nothing really stands out - except for the staff. Â I have to say I'm impressed with their attitude and service every single time.
If I was just reviewing the atmosphere, the deep fried late night menu (FRIED oreos, snickers, twinkies, and hot dogs. YES, Hot.Freakin.Dogs. which I have yet to try cause I was too sober to risk an early heart attack. Maybe one of these nights.), and the bar staff, this place would get 5 stars. Last time we were here, we ended up taking shots with the table next to us. Very fun crowd. I love the screened porch with the fireplace. Perfect for chilly nights while you drink good beer with good company.
However, some of the misses for me was the service and the food on the regular menu . Waiter was slow for refills, checks, and anything else we needed every single time I've been here. The menu was very extensive, but the food was pretty standard. Not bad, but nothing to brag about. I had the BBQ chicken and ribs. Both were dry without enough sauce. My date got the full rack and he loved his food.
Despite that, I keep coming back to this place and taking people here, because it's a really nice change of pace from the other typical sports bars. And really, you can't say no to fried snickers bars.
Firebird has become my "Cheers". I really go there too much. :) Â The servers are always friendly and happy to see me! (They better be because I'm there so much).
Friday Nights they usually play a good mix of music from 80's & 90's hits
to old school rap to current stuff.
Saturday Night is karaoke and it's always interesting and entertaining.
The late night menu is amazing!!!! Corn Dogs, Hot Dogs, Â Soft Pretzels, Pizza, Tatar Tots, French Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Mac & Cheese, Wings.. Pretty much anything a drunkie with the munchies would want and the kitchen is open until 1:30am
Their new Fried Dessert Menu is a fatty's dream come true!!! Fried Oreo's, Twinkies, Snickers, Cheesecake (I'm probably missing a few)
This is a nice change of pace from the ever popular Taco Mac franchise. It's a very well done sports bar with covered patio seating and tons of flat screens to catch whatever game you fancy. The food was 3.5 stars and I debated on bumping it up to 4, but the stale stench of smoke dropped it to a 3. Although smoking is allowed after certain hours, the entire restaurant reeks of smoke. My friends and I opted to sit on the patio and it wasn't so bad there.
The buffalo wings were very good but the lemon peppers were not. I am the type to never leave behind food, but even I couldn't will myself to finish the last 4 lemon pepper wings. The lemon seasoning was way too sharp and the salt and pepper sprinkled on top made it entirely too salty. The celery that came with the wings also didn't look very fresh.
The nachos on the other hand were surprisingly very loaded and very good. Those are highly recommended. Their pulled pork sandwich was also pretty good but only if you like your bbq super sweet.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It's situated in a suburban strip mall that I thought previously only consisted of a Walmart and World Market. I was surprised to see how many people were inside- not just hanging out at the bar, but also sitting down eating with friends or on dates.
Our server was amazing, the food was great and the atmosphere was good. I'm not into sports and TV's showing sporting events basically comprised the entire ambiance. There are even TV's at each booth.
BBQ was really good, as were the sweet potato fries. My friend got the chicken club and it was massive! Good food and large portions for the price. Drinks were a little expensive, but there are so few "cool" places near where I live I don't think it's a deterrent.
This place turns into a "bar" after 10pm- meaning the music gets louder and you can smoke. Definitely happy to find Firebird and will be going again!
Firebird Rotisserie and Sports is a great sports bar. Â I was very impressed with the personal TVs on the booth tables. Â My friend and I went there because we had a coupon from the entertainment book, and we were both very happy with our meals. Â I had the fish and chips, which were very good, and she had the chicken tender plate with sweet potato fries. Â I would definitely visit this place again. Â I'm told though that after 10p smoking is allowed at the bar so I won't be visiting this place after 10p at night.
Review Source:I would like to give this place 4 stars for being a decent sports bar, but the food I tried wasn't that great. Â The ribs were very dry....sort of the opposite of "fall off the bone" --- and the roasted chicken was better, but nothing to write home about. Â The service was really good, so no complaints there, but as with many bars in Atlanta....they allow smoking inside which will keep me from returning. Â (I am still not over smoke-free California!)
Review Source:I've been wanting to try this spot out with my 50% coupon from scoutmob for awhile. It's funny how I don't notice places until I start looking for them, its in the Wal-Mart plaza that I patronize frequently!
This would be a great place to watch the game, I really like the mini flat screens located in each booth. Â Now it' s time to discuss the food, the menu is overwhelming (which led me to believe good quality food would leave the kitchen). Â After contemplating for 30min I finally decided to order the steak tips for an entree and cheesesticks (squares) for an appetizers. I ordered the brownie with ice cream for dessert.
I liked the cheesesticks but nothing else. As my friend said " typical tasteless bar food" I did not like the texture of the tips I ate two pieces and played around with it until it was time for dessert. The brownie tasted old and did not met my standards to say the least.
Maybe I will try the wings if I decide to go back to watch a game or maybe eat nothing at all.
If you decide to use your Scoutmob coupon prepare to pay gratuity, regardless of the amount of people in your party.
Not a bad change of pace! Â It was a cold Wednesday night and we just had to get out and find something to eat, but wanted to try something new. Â Driven by and seeing a discount on http://restaurant.com, we decided to give it a try. Â It wasn't busy and there were plenty of TVs to catch the hockey game on tonight. Â Not to mention, they had little TVs at your table! Â
We sat ourselves and were soon greeted by a very nice waiter. Â Took our drink order while we perused the menu. Â Someone had mentioned to try the chicken queso dip on here, so we did. Â It was mild and had pieces of rotisserie chicken it. Â Pretty decent, but not really worth the $8. Â But we had the discount coming, so who cares!
What caught our eyes were the slab of ribs. Â Being avid BBQ lovers, we had to try them to place in our comparison with the rest of Atlanta. Â You got to chose two sides, but honestly, there weren't many to chose from! Â Baked Potato, Sweet Potato Fries, Mac'n'cheese, veggie of the day, and something else I think. Â But you get the picture! Â The mac'n'cheese was pretty decent, the baked potato was a decent size, and the sweet potato fries were good as well. Â The ribs were pretty good. Â Tender, tasty, and came with a side of sauce to dip in if you like. Â Yeah, it tasted like Cattleman's Smokey BBQ Sauce, but that stuff is sweet and good too!
The service was great. Â Always been checked on, prompt refills, and pretty damn friendly.
Yeah, there are a lot of other things on the menu. Â Just might have to give them a try. Â Pretty average priced, and especially a deal if you get the discount coupon offered.
Why did we like it? Â Well, it was different, friendly, no screaming kids, actually no kids at all when we were there, you can chose your own tv channel at the table to watch your game, and reasonably priced.
Will we go again? Â Yeah, not a regular thing, but for a change of scenery! Â Not to mention, we need to try some of the other menu items to see what they are like.
Would I suggest you give it a try? Â Sure! Â It's nothing fancy, and you need to change it up every now and then.
We play trivia here every Tuesday night, and always have a good experience. The servers are quick to remember new people who come in with us, and always give good service, though it might bit a tad slow at times, only because they are extremely busy.
Food: Mac n Cheese - Don't leave without it! Their queso and chips are also delicious. It took me a while to find my signature meal here, as everything is good but nothing really hit me as "OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS!" until I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Firebird definitely knows their wing sauce, and it's one of the best I've had. My friends love the pulled pork sandwich. Any sandwich you want in a wrap they will make in a wrap, which is also a nice touch of good service.
Firebird has a great beer selection and is a wonderful place for game day, though it does get crowded fast. Be sure to get there early or call and reserve a table. Their patio is a great place to sit, if it's open, and it does have two ceiling heaters as well as a fireplace to help keep you warm.
I always noticed this place, but never had the time or opportunity to go there. Â I decided to check it out one day when the place that I was visiting was unexpectantly closed. Â I went to the bar since I was alone, not wanting to take up a whole table, quite a few other loners were propped up as well. Â Finally one of the bartenders decided to pay me attention, gave me a menu. Â After I had to track her down, she came back to answer questions and took my order. Â I ordered the beef tips which were to come with 2 sides, macaroni and sweet potato fries (that boasted to be served with cinnamon sugar on the side) and texas toast. Â I got the food, the beef was flavored from the outside, not marinated. Â The server got an attitude that I wanted the cinnamon sugar that was mentioned to be on the side. Â If that toast is how they do it bigger in texas, I will pass.
The reason for my low review is the attitude of the bartenders. Â They hardly gave me the time of day, it was maddening. Â All of the other customers (mostly folks in town for business, no one else was really a frequent visitor) were given witty comments and discussion. Â I was not even given an offer for my water to be refilled.
I am here often due to Firebird's sponsorship of WAKA kickball. I have mixed feelings about this place. The food varys as far as consistency and enjoyability, The service is spotty. I got their rotisserie chicken and it was decent but nothing to write home about. The chicken melt sandwich was okay but decidely underwhelming. The chicken quesadilla pretty much sucked. The chicken club was surprisingly fantastic. Fries that come as as a side are pretty good. Wings are decent and pretty standard fare. Beer choices are above average. Overall I give the place an A-OK.
Review Source:I don't see the great appeal to this place. It's a fairly average sport's bar located in a Walmart shopping center. The interior is dark and they have a decent outdoor seating area. The beer selection is average and they had the normal bar grub available. They're supposed to be known for the chicken obviously. We ordered 40 wings with different sauces. The wings were decently sized, but the experience as a whole was underwhelming. I will give this place the benefit of the doubt and go back to see if the hype was worthy.
Review Source:Went last night for the 2nd time. Can't recall what I got on 1st visit, but I remember being nonplussed by it. This time I stuck to a basic bacon cheeseburger (cheddar). I thought it was quite good & cooked right. Hubby got a buffalo chicken sandwich. The sauce was hot as requested, the piece of chicken was *huge*, but it was a little too tough for our liking. We started off with their fries covered in bacon & queso - I'd get them again. They were good, but I do think they should cost less than $4.95 for the quantity you get.
One complaint I do have was the price of their sodas ($2.45). I mean, how much higher are restaurants going to take the price of sodas?? Come on people!! Â For getting close to $3, I'd better be drinking a beer of some kind. I do have one more complaint: our server was nice enough & did check back on things, but for most of our visit several of the servers just sat at a booth in the back talking & not paying all that much attention to anything. I know it's a sports bar, but I don't think that's so cool. I will give them another shot, tho, as they have BOGO coupons they mail out.
My fiance and I love this place and come here often. It's such a great spot if you want a low-key dinner and want to watch some TV while you're at it. All the booths have personal TVs in them. The food has always been above average for a sports bar and the restaurant is very clean as well. Love!
Review Source:So, sports bars are a dime a dozen. The food is all basically the same, it's hard to make a different version of nachos, cheese and various spicy things on top. Some have better beers than others, some of more tv's, but they are what they are. The difference from place to place are in the people, and this place has 2 of the coolest bartenders I have ever met in my days of swilling in bars( and I have been to a lot of bars). Jen & Holly make the difference for me in this place, and that is the only reason I go there. I can watch a game anywhere, eat shitty food anywhere, play bar trivia anywhere, but the bartenders really make the difference here.
Review Source:This restaurant isn't a fine dining establishment, nor is it trying to be. What is does try to do - and succeeds at - is being a clean, friendly sports bar. The menu offers your usual bar fare of sliders, sandwiches, and ribs with a variety of healthy or fried deliciousness for sides. I'm not a sweet potato fan, but those who come here in my trivia group swear by these. I can vouch for their regular fries, which are cooked just right and ample enough to share with someone else. Pulled BBQ chicken and pork are very good here, and the cheese and chicken nacho dip is heaven.
What's a bar without beer, though? While there isn't much on draft, the selection is still broad enough to keep every beer-lover happy. Buckets of beer are offered at varying prices, and as far as I can tell the prices seem very fair.
If it's trivia you're looking for, Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday nights at Firebird are for you! House cash is offered for the top three teams, and the trivia guy, Bob, is awesome. The staff really gets into it as well and adds to Bob's humor, often singing along to the songs as they play or cracking jokes about the questions. If you're frequent here, the staff never forgets your face and remembers your usual order, right down to how you want your drink and what sides go with that entree. An impressive feat, and the staff is always friendly to boot.
So while Firebird isn't competing with the likes of the fancy Midtown restaurants, it's a nice place to catch a sports game on one of the many televisions or take a stab at answering trivia. Worth checking out!
UPDATE --- Tried out new menu today. Â It rocks! Â They keep their 5 stars. Â They've got lots of new items including Pasta dishes, chowder(Creamy but NOT heavy & gloopy. Â Clams taste fresh and clean!), Â tuna dishes (Phenominal Tuna! Order it rare.) to steak tips. Â On the healthier side they've added a bunch of new salads. Â Try the Mandarin Orange & Georgia Pecan Salad! Â You'd never expect to find this kind of a creative salad at a typical 'sports bar'! Â Please read my previous review for full details.
Review Source:This place is pretty cool. My friend and I went there tonight and we sat on the back patio which was really nice. Â There were like 5 tv's showing the various college games *go dawgs!* Â We didn't sample the food tonight but he had a few beers & I had a couple kettle one & club sodas which were pretty good. Â The service wasn't bad either we had alternating waitresses but they were both nice. Â Anyway, if you haven't been here already check it out.
