Dear Taco Mac,
This isn't exactly a break-up letter, but I can't help but wonder why I keep trusting you just to have you shatter my dreams. Â I can only take so much abuse. Â The latest example was this past Friday, when, after realizing I had nothing to do after work, I decided to stop off at Total Wine, grab some beer an then stop by for a quick to-go order. Â
Oh, what a relaxing, fun evening I had planned. Â I envisioned myself sitting on the couch with ice cold beer, fajitas (from you) and nothing to do but stare at the television...long into the night...perhaps clean out the DVR of it's stock of Dateline that I've been eager to watch. Â Oh, but you had different plans for me.
After buying the cold beer at Total Wine, I stopped by and (I guess from the ways you've abused me in the past), I started a timer when I placed my order. Â I ordered a beer to drink as I sat at the bar waiting on my to-go fajitas to be cooked. Â I was worried that I wouldn't finish the beer before the food arrived. Â That, however, was not to be a problem. Â I finished the beer and sat there. Â And sat some more. Â And sat some more.
I did expect a crowd to be there on a Friday at 7:15 PM, but after my timer hit 35 minutes of waiting, I decided I was fed up...I couldn't believe I let myself get into a situation where you could hurt me again. Â I asked the bartender (who had been doing her best to avoid me) if I could just get a refund. Â She said 'oh...I think it's ready now.' Â I went ahead and said 'I'd like to speak with the manager, please.'
Two minutes later, the manager brought me the fajitas. Â 37 minutes. Â For a to-go order. Â I asked the manager what was going on and he said 'oh, I don't know...we were just busy.'
Hmmm...that didn't really sound like a good answer, so I told him this...in the most polite way I could: "I'm a fan of this place, I really am. Â You have the best beer selection in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area. Â But, over the past year the service has steadily declined. Â I've written a few reviews about this place and have lowered my rating to 1 star, the lowest possible rating. Â I can't even get my friends to come back here the service has gotten so bad." Â Yes, Taco Mac, I still had feelings for you, despite all my friends telling me you were no good. Â They flat out just don't like you. Â
In your defense, the manager did give me a $10 gift card, which I agree, was a nice gesture. Â However, Â $10 was not worth spoiling the evening I was so eager to have. Â When I got home (and I only live a mile from you), the fajitas were cold, the beer was hot and the DVR was empty! (ok, I don't blame you for the DVR, but still).
Only time will tell if our bond can be restored. Â At this point, though, I do need some time apart. Â I have some soul searching to do, but to be completely honest, if another place opens with a comparable beer selection, I'll dump you in a heartbeat.
Sincerely,
Bryan
What happened to this unit? They used to have a line to get a table, and we walked right in at 7:00. The food used to be hit or miss....now it's just miss. The server was raving about the donuts for dessert when we were ordering, but dropped the check on our table after neglecting us for far too long. We were never asked if we wanted dessert, and we each would have ordered one. Hello....higher ticket= higher tip. The servers were more interested in talking amongst one another and playing than serving the guests....one was trying to spin a tray on top of her head. Didn't see a manager in the 1 1/2 hours that we were there. Burger was way overcooked, not the medium that I ordered, but there was no server follow-up to remedy.
