hmmm!
I'm going to make this one very short ok-promise!
I've been there twice and I don't think I'll go a third time.
It's a pretty huge place, it even has an upstairs-nice? Of course!
The environment is so typical the difference is with this one it's a little ummm slow.
Now I'm not sure why a little slow when it's right in Canarsie, but maybe because Footprint isn't too far from it, or maybe because I went right in the middle of winter those times.
It's not a people friendly at all.
I waited long for my order to be taken and when I finally caught the bartender's  attention I wasn't greeted or any smiles-hmm! Now I've been in customer services for a while and I know certain things and expect great service as a customer.
Now I finally ordered she came back with the wrong drinks and appetizers-it was horrible!
I don't think I'll go back-SUCKS!
Pricey for no reason!
Fisheye has an owner "Lance" who goes above & beyond for his customers. Â He knows the true meaning of Customer Service!
Me, my sister & her god-daughter decided to come here in the early evening for a quick bite & drink. They explained they were in the process of setting up to open but wasn't exactly ready to receive customers. We completely understood & decided  to leave. Lance (the owner) called us back apologized, explaining they were in the middle of evening setup and accommodated us . Â
THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!!!! Oxtail fell right off the bone & the snapper was fried nice & dry like my sister likes it! Rice & Peas delicious. Drinks PERFECTION, You can tell they don't serve watered down stuff!
This is my 3rd visit & I can honestly say I will be a regular! Great spot, accommodating, personable employees & owner!
Thanks Lance for making your establishment a pleasant experience!
So over the last few years I've become a  Bed Stuy, Crown Heights, Fort Green, Clinton Hill type of girl (I follow the food).  But every now and again I take it back to my OH (original hood) and head out to my old East Flatbush/Canarsie stomping grounds.  Last Saturday was one of those times.  Me and the fam made a night of it at Fish Eye in celebration of my bro-in-law's birthday.
All in all it was a good night. Â It took awhile to find parking (about 10 minutes driving a four block radius) and the female bouncer was pretty thorough in her investigation of my bag and body, but once I got through the doors everything was fine. Â The DJ was on point spinning a mix of hip hop top, reggae and my personal favorite old school (mostly 80/90s). Â There were several birthday parties - one upstairs in what I imagine could be interpreted as VIP and one in the lounge area towards the rear. Â The crowd was mixed in age - mostly late-20s/mid-30s with a few "hey girl, 40 is the new 30"s for good measure. Almost everyone was casually, though tastefully dressed (with a few exceptions that were clearly dressed for an early Sunday morning walk of shame). Â All in all it was a nice urban-Caribbean crowd out to have a good time. Â
I didn't eat or drink (my sister made brownies for our party and they were delicious - and more than enough wasted calories for the night, thank you very much), but the majority of my fam did order food and they all scraped their plate..(they like to munch). Â I think the food is adequate (even better if you're already inebriated) and the menu has some island flare.
Fish Eye is a good overal option for causal socializing especially if you're looking for a fix of reggae music. Â It's definitely worth a visit if you live in the Canarsie area (though I wouldn't travel from Bed Stuy on a regular basis to hang here).
