I keep coming back to Fitzy's hoping for some changes that make me WANT to come back more frequently then once a year. Today a simple order once again was screwed up and my sandwich was delivered to me wrong. Never fails my meal comes to me incorrectly, ok..I could possibly live with that as they did correct it very quickly. My issue today was my waitress looking at my party as dollar signs (her tip) We were asked more times then I can remember "Do you want an appetizer and then do you want dessert". I have no problem being asked but her tone was so pushy and when we declined it was like then please leave as you are taking up space too bad your not done chewing your meal.
I just don't know about this place, I do like supporting the local smaller businesses, but this place is just fair and visiting often is not for me. The oddest thing was while my waitress was pushy and a bit unpleasant, the manager walked around smiling away as though nothing was wrong and everything was funny per her big smile on her face.
A positive is I have a few friends who enjoy the the bar side of this establishment. So if you want to go out for a few drinks this maybe a place to go. If you want a nice laid- back place to eat, keep driving by.
We really wish this place was good, we've been there many times over the years only because we live very close by. Â We had hoped that the new owners would make improvements but its actually worse. Â We've had dinner at least 7-8 times since it changed ownership and I feel the food is about the same, but the service is soooooooo sloooooooooow! Â It doesn't matter if the place is busy or if you're the only table in the dining room. Â
The last time we went there I asked for rolls, after over 10 minutes of watching rolls go out to other tables even some who came in after us, Â I asked the waitress about the rolls and she told me that they ran out of rolls and had to bake more. Â I asked why "brown and serve rolls" can take 15 minutes"? Â She had no answer. Â Its not that they were intentionally being slow, we always over tip even when the service is bad and they know that. Â Feeling sorry for them can only go so far. Â We even had another waitress on a prior visit tell me she didn't have time to get me lemons for the diet coke because they were in the bar. (that's only the next room)
The managers do walk around smiling at the tables, but why bother, they should be walking around engaging with the guests, asking everybody why they're all frowning (besides being hungry from waiting so long).  How about an experiment, try keeping track of how long it takes to get in and out of there  and they would never believe it takes 90 minutes when its not busy.  I honestly think they don't know about it and don't read yelp to realize this is a problem that many people have with this place.
On a different visit my teenage son ordered the stuffed shells, cold and hard. Â We told the waitress and she said,"do you want me to heat them up?" Â Not even an apology...
The fact that they try to promote using expensive mail coupon services tell you that new owners have no clue, its not the price that drives the locals away, its the inconsistant quality of the items on their very basic menu and the service which is slower than anyone can imagine. Â It'd be so much cheaper to fix their kitchen and dining room problems than having coupons mailed to everybody in town! Â Management is just too oblivious to realize how bad they are!
Nobody is expecting gourmet food or elegant service but this place makes the chain casual restaurants look like superstars!
I've been to Fitzy's about five or six times, all in the dining room and all but once with kids. Â I usually get the steak tips with rice, and the meal has generally been good. Â I've explored some other options like the chicken parm, but have learned to stay away from some of the options.
The kids' menu has very reasonable pricing, and I've never gotten any of the horrible service or food that others have posted about.
Brought my family for Sunday dinner ( approx 3pm) Â A party of 4 adults and 3 children.
We were seated at a booth for 4 in the dining room, and squashed. There was room for us comfortably elsewhere since it was not busy at this time. We were not offered an alternative.
My primary dissapointment was with our server. She was not knowledgeable relative to liquor menu. I settled for a cabernet wine initially. Once I decided on a dinner selection, I requested a sauvignon blanc. She brought me another cabernet instead of asking first. Â It gets worst. I ordered blacked haddock. It came out of the kitchen totallly decimated. Burned to a crisp. I then realized my nephew was the only one in our party who wasn't served. The rest of us were almost finished with our meal.
Our server never kept us informed of the delay. Another server informed us that the burger was overcooked, and only she apologized, and took the cost off the bill.
The original server never checked to see if all was well throughout our time there.
I really miss the old Fitzies which can't hold a candle to the Midway in Dedham; the Pleasant in Roslindale; or a number of pubs who offer quality service and dinner selections over and above the pub food.  I'll  most likely never recommend ths restaurant again.
This was awful from start to finish. I really wasn't expecting fine dining, but I certainly wasn't expecting such a negative experience. I should have realized something was up when it was 1:30pm on a Sunday and there was no one eating lunch accept for us. The hostess treated us like we were an inconvenience seating us. Then we were seated in a dingy section of the restaurant. Our server wasn't unpleasant but came very infrequently to check up on us. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and the chicken was old and cold, absolutely undeniable.one of our our drinks was not correct. We then couldn't wait to get out so we paid the bill and this is the cherry on top, we went to our car and there was a gang of bar people smoking and leaning up against our car. My husband told them it was rude to lean on other people's car. I am only happy that no fight  ensued.
Review Source:Don't bother trying this place. Â Lived here for 5 years and decided to give this a try, very disappointing. Â I had steak tips, which were placed on a plate with a big pile of mashed potatoes in the middle. Â Looked like a kindergarten project gone wrong.
They need help. Â I won't be back to find out if they got it either.
Now I remember why I do not like this place. My wife suggested going out to dinner here, and of course with it being over 90 degrees out I said sure.We had a coupon for Fitzy's pub,so off we go.I used to love this [place back in the days of the old owner, when the food was good and waitresses actually cared. The last time we went here about 9 months ago the food was ok about 3 stars, and service -10 stars.Last night we went with 7 year old daughter in tow.The hostess sat us and gave us menus. It took and I am kind 20 minutes for a waitress to arrive and ask about drinks, another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Finally we ordered and asked if we could have some rolls, well they never came but our meals did 45 minutes later and the place was not busy on a Wednesday night. When the food came, like I said it was about average, finally 15 minutes after this we got our hockey pucks (aka rolls) which you could have played baseball with. After we had finished it took our waitress (wish I knew her name) another 30 minutes to bring the bill. Meanwhile my well behaved 7 year old was getting tired seeing we went at 730 and was now around 10pm.All in all the moral of the story is if you are going to serve average food, you should compliment it with good, friendly service. Will not go back ever.
Review Source:Very middle of the road for me. Â I have been going here with my family since I was a kid but it is now re-opened under new ownership.
I got the BBQ burger, which came out cooked just how I asked it, while my girlfriend got the Shepard's Pie. Â We got the potato skins as an appetizer.
Food wasn't the worst we have had, but was not the best I have had either. Â Will probably return but I wouldn't pick this place for a special night out or anything like that.
Worth mentioning they have Keno as well, both in the bar and seated sections.
I was smirking while reading the reviews because it is a tale of two restaurants. The dining room service is slow and hit or miss on the friendliness factor.
Conversely, the bar area is a great place for Monday night football with good wing and beer specials.
I stopped taking the family to the dining room but love to go on Monday nights for some beer, wings and people watching.
Went with the family as a treat for doing well in school. (ok, no one cooked dinner so I'm using this as an excuse).  Big mistake.  We've been before and had an ok time, but this was one of our worst experiences ever, and needless to say, we're not going back.  They seated us right away, but we didn't see a waitress for quite some time.  Ordered up some buffalo wings for an appetizer and they were mediocre at best, not very crisp, and certainly not that hot.  After that we waited for what seemed FOREVER for our entrees.  One of my boys ordered a very simple spaghetti dish with marinara sauce. He didn't want any meatballs. (though the same dish WITH meatball was the same price)  When the waitress finally brought the food over, of course she brought him the spaghetti with the meatballs.  Not to make a fuss, I just said to the waitress, "It's ok, just leave them and we'll take them off his plate, "someone will eat them."  She proceeded to whisk the dish away from us and bring it back to the kitchen, saying that those meatballs belonged with someone else's dinner!   She unloaded the meatballs and brought my son the dish back sans meatballs.  I was really a little surprised at this.  My wife and I ordered the scrod, and while I tolerated mine, my wife didn't like the look of hers at all, claiming it didn't look like a quality piece of fish. (lots of the darker grey portions and not the nice white fish you'd expect.  She ended up taking it home in a container and feeding it to our dog.  When the waitress came back to collect the bill, she muttered a half-hearted apology, claiming a "large party" was in the other room and that took away resources from the main dining room.  I don't know about you, but when I'm in a  restaurant there's only one party that needs to be taken care of professionally, and that's me and my family.  I'm afraid we're done with Fitzy's after this.
Review Source:Horrible, Horrible, Horrible!!!!
Ordered the baked scrod. Â You could tell by looking at it, that it was bad. Â Â I cut into it and could smell how bad it was. Â After the waitress finally came over, she said she would take it off the bill. Â Then we saw her talking with the manager and came back defending the fish claiming the fish was fresh today. Â Then the cook came out and was obnoxious. Â He too defended the fish telling me 30 other people had the fish and no one complained but me. Â He was so rude to me
I will never go back...please tell a friend. Â Stay away from this place.
horrible!
First time there, last time there. Â If I could give this business less than one star I would. Â I was sat immediately by the hostess. Â Waited 15 minutes and still no waitress. Â The hostess came by and asked if I would like something to drink. Â She brought me my drink, still no waitress. Â Another 10 minutes and I stopped the hostess and asked if I could order. Â The hostess took my order which was delivered by the manager (????? don't really know). Â Half-way through my meal the waitress showed up and asked if I needed anything else. Â I finished my meal and after waiting another 10 minutes, I flagged down the hostess and asked for my check. Â She gave me my check and I waited another 5 minutes for the waitress to show up with my change. Â I eat out quite often and this evening was the worst experience I have ever had. Â Will not return.
Review Source:Pretty average place with decent food. I got the house steak tips, which was kind of a small portion of steak, but made up for it in potatoes.
My guest got a turkey melt which was pretty tasty also and came with some of those delicious Irish "chips".
Overall an OK place to stop in, but not worth traveling to. We only stopped in because the North End Deli was closed.
Now, it's reopened and as was said above...the Food is WAY better than it was before it closed.
The cool thing that they have now is a Fitzy's Pub Rewards Card. Â Just hand it to them when you pay the bill. Â As you get more points, you get rewards to use towards food discounts and such.
The good thing, as even if you just go in for a few beers, you can use your card towards that...
The last time I was in I had the Wings...and man, however they make them...they are TASTY! Â And Chris the bartender will keep your glass filled with Sam Seasonal while you're eating.
The Nacho's are also out of this world. Â They are HUGE! Â And the chili is very good. Â If you like Nacho's...this is a place to get them.
They also have a Shrimp Scampi. Â If you ask them, they will sub it out with Chicken...and then have them add Garlic. Â HOLY SMOKES! Â It's GREAT!
We'll stop in for the Music and a few pints here and there as well. Â It's a lot of fun and the people working the bar are great.
Updated: New owners from my previous review. Improvement for sure. Very good buffalo wings and believe it or not italian dishes. $2.50 bud light drafts. Best pub option in the immediate area for sure.
Fitzy's was my first exposure to pubs here in the southeastern mass triangle. This is your local pub, locating in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Fitzy's has a large menu and a large selection of daily specials. Pub fare, twin lobsters, pizza and steaks. Try the potato soup which is my favorite. You can get a large ice cold draft beer and play keno as well as have a decent dinner and spend very little. In the word of the famous coach of the Foxboro football team likes to say Fitzy's... "it is what it is".
The menu selection is pretty large with standard sandwiches and pizza but also has a lot of seafood selections. Â The buffalo chicken sandwich is my favorite. Â The prices are excellent. Â I lived in the area for a couple of years so I've been to Fitzy's a few times. Â There can be a wait on the weekends so beware. Â It's definitely a place the locals flock to.
