Bucket of steamers is the way to go. Especially when they are in season if that makes sense, or maybe when they are large and fresh. I have had the best luck sticking with the menu recommendations. Bangers and mash is awesome. Drinks and service is great.

Been here many times usually really enjoy the fish and chips and chowder.  This visit was disappointing. Poor service. Waited a long time to be greeted then waited longer to order.  The portion of fish I received very small not the usual and the waitress forgot my chowder.  However still the best bread around. We will be taking a break from  here for a while.

Three words:  Bucket. of. Steamers.

Don't even think twice or stop to analyze what I've just told you. Just order it. They are absolutely delicious, plentiful, clean and served in a huge bucket with broth and butter for dipping. I've never in my life thought steamers would be something I'd order out at a restaurant but the Chieftain proved me wrong!

This is definitely a fun little pub featuring a variety of beer (and Magners!) on tap and live Irish music on the weekends. A bit small and cramped, and the wait for a table tends to be pretty long, but if you can snag a seat at the bar or if you don't mind waiting/standing, it's a fun place to hang and eat, drink and be merry!
