Food Network Restaurant

Why the Food Network would ever use its brand name to set up restaurants like its Food Network Restaurant in the Ft. Lauderdale airport boggles my mind! To start with, everyone complains about airport restaurants for being bad and expensive in the first place, so you would expect them to try extra hard to set themselves apart. Nope! Well, maybe just a little bit.... Instead of expensive and bad they are a cut above at, er, expensive and mediocre - at least for breakfast. Who knows, maybe their salmon burger is better.

We should have planned ahead and should have eaten before we got to the airport or at least gotten a surprisingly good ready made Cuban sandwich at Publix. But no, we rushed almost blindly to the airport with empty stomachs only to find out that the reason the Food Network Restaurant had such a long line was because it was the only restaurant in our terminal. Yikes!

So there we were in the long, long line boggled by their notice to the customers that the food may take 20 minutes or more to be ready regardless of the fact it is PREMADE! Okkkk....

So my BF got the $8 Cuban breakfast burrito - or should I say breakfast egg roll (yes, it's practically that small) and well it really lacks in flavor. I ordered the slightly better and much more substantial $7 breakfast sandwich which also lacks in flavor. Ever heard of salt? The only good thing on our plate was the delightful $6 small chocolate bundt cake which was truly divinely, tasty!!!!

The highlight of paying for such expensive bland food was to purchase the right to get a place to sit and enjoy the airport's free wifi. I'll just look at it that way.

Did I mention their bagel with lox costs an ungodly $10?

To make it worse there are very few options, so take it from me eat before you get to the airport! EAT BEFORE YOU GET TO THE AIRPORT!

Food was very fresh and had good flavor. Prices are high, even for an airport and sandwiches come without a side. Sat at the bar and service was quick and attentive. Not too many other options at the 'F' gates.

Awful! Outrageous prices.  A PB&J sandwich was about $10.  The service was very slow and the place was filthy.  We ended up ordering bagels because it seemed like the best option.  When we went to take seats by the bar area, they kicked us out because we did not order drinks - although we just spent about $8 on plain bagels.  This place is a joke and food network should be ashamed by the service it provides.  No customer service at all!!!
