My partner went to high school in Spring and his parents still live there so that means we often end up going out on Christmas night to catch up with his old friends. Â Unfortunately, there are not many kitchen options open on Christmas night. Â I learned this lesson last year when we went somewhere for a drink near Montrose with a closed kitchen and all they could offer us was a bag of potato chips. Â After calling 15+ several local restaurants after a food coma, we found this spot. Â
A sign at the door announced $2 draft specials all night. Â Opening up the drink menu revealed a great selection e.g. Ace Pear, Boddington's, Karbach, Sam Adams and St. Arnold's seasonal. Â They have a long menu of chainy food not unlike Chili's or Bennigans. Â The guys got appetizers while I went with a the spinach salad to cancel out all the holiday food I'd been enjoying. Â It was totally tasty, light, and the candied pecans were full of good fats, right? Â
The main room when you enter is smoker-friendly. Â There's another room to the right that is smoke-free with a couple of pool tables and lots of big screens for sports. Â We enjoyed watching the Rockets trounce the Bulls. Â There's a smaller room where the bathrooms can be found that seemed to have more pool tables and also was smoke-free. Â The waitress was great, but the kitchen was slow due to the skeleton staff. Â It was Christmas Day so I'm not complaining. Â We left a large tip in light of the discounted beers and having to work on the holiday.
Good pub to sit and watch the game. They usually have drink specials which are always a good idea. This bar is smoke friendly, being from california, I wasnt too comfortable but that's my problem. Although there was a pregnant waitress working that night....Aaaaaanyways, no t-shirts sold here, totally bummed me out it's my favorite cartoon movie. The snacks were good and the drinks wern't soft or stiff, a fair deal altogether. a good place to just chill, have a drink, and smoke a cig.
Review Source:Great bar food. Try the mini chili cheese dogs. First, what a great concept, easy to eat chili cheese dogs? Second, they put these in the oven in the end to slightly crisp the bread, melt the cheese, and ensure everything is piping hot. Get an order of fries and a cold beer and it's perfect.
Review Source:I was on the verge of giving it two stars. Â Mostly for drinking and watching loud sports. Â Food is OK, different drink specials daily, slow servers that were small outfits. Â They do have lots of events, specials, and beer on tap. Â Not my favorite place, but OK. Â Patio and a non smoking room. One of my friends really likes this place so I am sure that I will be back.
Review Source:mmmmm.. A - ok, but on the verge of giving it 2 stars.. We went here to drink and they served us drinks... they get 2 thumbs up for that. However it was 'late-ish' on a Friday night and this place looked like a bingo hall.. It was empty with all of maybe 10 other people in here. Â We had a couple appetizers and they hit the spot.. The drinks are mildly expensive.. Just needs more to make me want to come back.
Review Source:It was our first time here.  Purchased a groupon, so we were excited to try a new place for a good price.  First off, the ambience was pretty quiet and cozy.  Yeah, for a sports bar!  It was a Thursday night, so that was probably why.  Also, if you're sensitive to smoke, there'a  decent sized room in the back that's smoke free-with not too much smokey drift over.  Â
It was a quiet night there, so you'd THINK the food would come quickly. Â Sadly, it did not! Â I can't imagine how long it would take on a busy night! Â I don't blame the waitress. Â She was quick with drinks and taking the order. Â
I ordered the mahi mahi-which was just too fishy for me. Â What do you expect from a pub? Hubby had a burger. Â I took a taste and it was alright. Â I mean, how can you screw up a burger? Â If you're going to hang with friends to drink, this is the place for you. Â But if you care about the quality of your food, this isn't a place for you. Â
Oh, by the way....when it came down to pay, our bill only came out to $5.96 (remember, we had a groupon). Â Waitress gave us the wrong change back. We don't think she did it on purpose, but who knows!
I'm not your usual sports pub and grill fan; however, Â the pot roast with garlic mashed potatoes are superb here. Â The pints of beer are cheeper than Goose's Acre and there are multiple screens with sports channels in every room. Â They have pool tables, for those who are inclined, and chatty chick waitresses............for those who are inclined. Â I was pleasantly surprised with the food selections. Â This is better than Sam's Boat, but a step down or two from Goose's Acre and Baker Street Pub. Â I wouldn't say no to meeting people here.
