Some of the best pizza in town. If you like thin, floppy, New York style pizza, this is your spot. Similar to the downtown location, which is owned by Vito's cousin. The atmosphere here is better. Vito is from Italy. He and his wife own the place. They are super friendly and they're always here! Say hello!
Review Source:This is an untypical review for me. Â When in town on business, I use Yelp as my source for restaurants and usually focus on the food and not other factors. Â I found this place charming, divey-charming, a throwback to the 70's, checkered vinyl table cloths, and reminded me of a local establishment in my home town back then! Â Dark, cheesy, old!
I ordered the Galina with a side salad. Â When I ordered my salad, I asked what was on it. Â Lettuce, onion, tomato and an olive. Â When I got it, they were right, one olive. Â This struck me as funny! Â I should have asked for some cheese on top also.
The pizza was good, but like Rob L said, canned mushroom and crumbled sausage? Â Deep dish, I think not, well, at least not like Chicago; it's more of a "normal" crust as opposed to a thin crust. Â Not enough cheese for my taste either.
No Parmesan cheese on the table or red pepper flakes which I found odd.
With all this being said, I have been to better pizzeria's, but this hit the spot for the night!
To be completely fair I went right before they closed for the night, but the pizza wasn't the best. The price was also somewhat expensive for thin crust. I only got one slice of cheese and it cost me $3.
I think I would have rated this higher if the price was cheaper. The taste wasn't that bad, but the price didn't equate to the quality of the za. On the flip side, the staff was friendly and polite. I just wanted something more from the pizza.
Well... I was staying at there Drury and had a long day and didn't feel like messing around going out to dinner. Â So, I decided I would just order some marginal pizza from Domino's... They don't deliver to the Drury. Â Then I tried Pizza Hut... They don't deliver to the Drury either. Â So, Â I Â searched the internet and am glad I did. Â Pizza and service was awesome! Â I enjoyed the experience and would do it again.
Review Source:The Gallina family knows what they're doing! Â As my grandma says, if you're sweating while you eat, you KNOW it's good! Â Trust me, you'll be satisfied! Â The best pizza around; I have dreams about the delicious feast! Â The baked pastas are to die for! Â LOVE the owners, they are as real as you can get. Â I've been eating at Gallina's my entire life. Â My sister and I would always fight over the last piece of pizza. Â Once you go to Gallina's, there's NO going back.
Review Source:Pretty much the only New York style pizza in town. Â Everything else is St. Louis style thin crust. Â And don't even try looking for Chicago style pizza in Springfield - it simply doesn't exist. Â The pizza here is great. Â Be sure to get the deep dish with lots of toppings. Â Nice folks that own the place too.
