We are traveling through Nevada and are having an overnight stop in Reno.We selected this restaurant based on Yelp recommendations. We  ordered the pork chops with some trepidation. We are Iowa natives and know good pork. The pork available where we live in Monterey, CA  is not up to the standards of Iowa pork.  We were amazed to find  really great chops in Reno at The Gas Lamp Restaurant and Bar. Our chops were perfectly cooked. They were more then 2 inches thick. juicy and succulent. We have never seen chops this thick served to such perfection.  They were served simply over the potato mash with a grilled peach on the side.  We chose to pair them  with a Chalone Pinot Noir from our home area in Monterey County.  The other Pinot Noir on the list did not pass the taste test. Â
This was an  excellent meal. The waitress Jaimie was personable and entertaining and the service was great.  The chef Danny shared his "secret" for preparing an excellent pork chop.  No pork chop in the Monterey/Carmel/Pebble Beach area compares to this.  The only downside was a limited selection of Pinot Noir that would be worthy to be paired with this chop.
Visited tonight on the basis of previous Yelp reviews. Â I was with my son in Reno for one night before he begins summer courses at UNR.
The restaurant was not terribly busy at 8:15 on a Friday night; we had reservations but they would not have been necessary tonight.
We started off with the Caesar Salad (with homemade dressing) served in an ice-cold bowl with big shavings of Parmesan and delicious croutons. With this, we ordered an appetizer of Bleu Cheese Garlic Bread; the salad was huge and delicious, and the bread was homemade, crunchy, and had a great flavor combination of garlic, butter, and bleu cheese. Â We were glad we ordered these starters.
We enjoyed the piano player, the candle light, and the outgoing personality of our waiter while we waited for delivery of our main course: the famous pork chop. When it arrived, we sort of knew what it was going to look like from the Yelp photos, but we were unprepared for the size: 14 oz of juicy, delicious boneless pork, served with mashed red potatoes and a grilled peach half. I've never had pork this delicious! Folks, do yourself a favor and try this; there's no way you'll regret your decision. What was particularly amazing was the way that this two inch thick chop came out perfectly cooked, seared on the outside but still moist throughout and without a hint of pink.
After conquering this massive meal, it was time for desert; ordinarily, we would have called it quits after such a main course, but we wanted to try the highly recommended ice creams. So for the sake of completeness, we soldiered on. We ordered the almond roca ice cream (made with unbelievable homemade almond roca) and the mint chocolate chip (made with actual mint leaves; no commercial extracts or colorings). The mint chocolate chip ice cream, in particular, will be a taste you'll remember for a long, long time.
The chef came out and made the rounds of the tables, as did the bartender all to make sure that the patrons were happy and enjoying themselves. The warmth of the staff and their pride in the quality of their product was evident, and certainly well founded.
We're only in Reno infrequently (last time was a year ago) but this is my new favorite. It is so far ahead of everything else, that there might as well not even need to be a "Plan B" when we're in Reno.
Nice date night place, too bad I was out with 2 of my fantastic girlfriends.
The food was really good. I got a ginormous pork chop that definitely hit the spot. What I didn't like is that you cannot order from the full menu from Monday to Wednesday. You can only order off of the pre-fixed menu. So I was inthe mood for somehting healthier, and that wasn't an option. Also - they weren't flexible. I asked for a salad instead of the giant heap of potatoes, and that wasn't an option. I wasn't allowed to swap. SERIOUSLY?!
So the food was good, but the inflexibility of the service and the kitchen makes this place not so worth it.
After taking months to finally get down there and being concerned the food wouldn't be up to the hype (been sadly disappointed at a lot of  restaurants people say are amazing).
We stopped in about 5:30 on a Thursday, love that appetizers are half off until 6:30 so we tried the grilled artichoke and the steamed clams. Both were excellent! we opted to share the Ribeye, could have used a tad more seasoning, but was very tender and had a great flavor, would def. have it again! The grilled salmon and shrimp dish the gentleman next to me had looked great as did the wedge salad. We of course made sure to save room for dessert. The homemade mint ice cream was terrific not overly sweet and great fresh mint flavor, we had the brownie and asked them to put mint chip ice cream instead of the vanilla. They had an almond rocca torte that sounded delicisous and the fresh berry cobbler with ice cream sounded amazing, but we picked one and figured we will go back! We will def. be back to try a few more things off the menu. All in all for two glasses of wine, steamed clams, grilled artichoke, rib eye and dessert the bill came out to $42! The bar got pretty busy, all the tables were filled up and the bar top by 6, and the bartender seemed a bit flustered but held his own, if we had been in a hurry it might have been a problem we were there for abot an hour and a half altogether but the food was worth it, and the kitchen was on top of it we didn't wait a long time for the food, it was just the time it took to get our order to to bartender who then had to run each ticket to the kitchen. After years in food service i can say my only pet peeve was the antiquated use of hand written tickets to the kitchen. the staff didn't seem to have time to run each ticket back to the kitchen each time, maybe time to invest in a POS system. to help your stafff be a little more efficient. It wasn't enough of a bother to prevent me from coming back, just an observation that once summer rolls in and shows and stuff start happening and hour and a half might be a bit long for some people.
I would say the only thing that would have made it better was having a drink menu with some specialty drinks, we both would have had more to drink but after a long day trying to come up with drink ideas was not happening. And Creme Brulee on the menu would be great! Very few places offer it and those that do they are not that good.
Can't wait to come back and try the grilled shrimp app, the pork chop and so many other dishes!
Okay. I know this is probably lame to some, but I seriously can not catch a break with this place. The bartender from my last review "noted" me and wanted me to come back in so she could say hi and to apologize (nice touch)
So it's 5 pm today, I have family from out of town and they look to me to take them somewhere. I gave them a couple choices with some quick rundowns. They picked gas lamp and we were going to hit happy hour too. I checked the time and the day of the week (not after 9 pm and not a Monday or Tuesday) so my guests get there first and they are closed for a private party.
Le sigh.
I want to eat here again, but I just don't see it happening. This is like the 5th or 6th time I've attempted to give hem business and only actually ate here twice. Maybe I'm exaggerating.
I feel lame for being annoyed, but Jeebus. Always call ahead.
I've come to decide that after my last visit here that this is the best happy hour in Reno. I used to go to SoDo for the bar bites menu, and different sports bars for cheap drink prices and food, but this Gas Lamp has the best tasting food and drink prices around. It only runs from 5pm to 6:30 everyday they are open. Happy Hour options are only available in the bar lounge. First off wines are HALF off and ALL the appetizers are HALF off. The house Merlot is a decent wine and the bartender does a decent pour, and for $2.50 a glass, that's completely worth it. Even the sparkling wine is half off. The appetizers here are my fave! We had the prawn cocktail which was more prawns then cocktail. Grilled prawns served with a dipping sauce. Prawns off the charts good! ($4.50). Next was Smoked Salmon Carpaccio ($4.50), served with toasted bread slices ($4.50), then Ahi Tuna Tartare ($4.50), really good served with fried won ton crisps. If that wasn't enough we had the steamed clams ($4.50) and garlic fries, get this, $2.50! You might think with the half off prices that the portions might be reduced a bit but no...full size portions. Wow, those clams! The butter and wine broth they are steamed in makes these the best clams I have EVER tasted. It's rare that I have that many different dishes and have all of them by 5 star good! Service is right there on the spot all the time! Hey, I even like the music they play! I need to come here more often. All that food and drink for $30 plus tax and tip, wow! If everything was full price, I may not order so much, but for half off, what the heck! This was just for 2 people. If you get just one thing here, get the clams!
Review Source:One of my favorite restaurants in Reno. It is consistently good. On Friday evening they have live piano music.
There pasta is good. Their pork chop is HUGE. It is their signature dish!!
But the pièce de résistance is the mint ice cream. Oh my god. I don't know how they do it.  But if you go to the Gas Lamp you have to have their mint ice cream.
My favorite restaurant in the Reno area.
This is my GO-TO spot when I'm not in a huge group, or just tired of doing the same ole Reno all you can eat thing. This is a great date spot. The food is amazing (especially the pork chop) and I cannot say enough good things about their homemade ice cream (especially the mint!)
My boyfriend always aim to stay in Reno during our Tahoe adventures just so we can taste what their offering on the menu.
Spend a nice long romantic evening dining with your loved one here. You won't regret it!
E-Dawg and H-Man took me here to celebrate their winning the Final Four Pool. Â We had already learned our lesson once when we went in on a Friday w/no reservation and I think literally EVERY seat in the place was taken. Â So we made a rezzie this time. Â We left a message to change it one time and the change was received fine.
MENU:
Their menu is divided into courses, though it is not online (wish it was!! hinthint) . Â I am preggers and craved salmon and luckily roasted salmon was on the menu. Â
FOOD:
We had read about their amazing burger and sweet potato fries, HMan got that, a great deal for $10. Â Fries amazing! Â He downed the burger so must have been good :) Â He is 11 so paying $10 for that was a plus in my book.
We started w. grilled artichokes which came out a little crispy but were awesomely seasoned. Â
I had the salmon, moderate portion, yummy veggies, no starch which was OK w/me, nice and light. Â I was able to work on the sweet potato fries :)
Edawg had the penne w/ chicken and mozz- truly a feat of tomato sauce and cheese, it was so delicious I am so glad there is some leftover for today. Â Highly suggested.
PRICES:
Though the boys paid, a quick review of prices beforehand (limited to menupix for price/item ideas) showed they are pretty reasonable. Â
Women's bathrooms are clean and the place is really tastefully decorated - cozy. Â They even had a piano player ! Â No patio though the Steve (owner? Â super nice) said they may be putting one in soon.
I can't wait to go back and have a big delicious glass of red wine as it seemed everyone around me was drinking them. Â Will be back!!
So we went here on a random whim for a date night dinner back in November 2011. Â Wow were we impressed!! Â It was moderately busy, but a charming small hidden gem of a spot, and we were graciously accommodated when asked to be moved to a table in a corner area. THE FOOD WAS PERFECTION, nothing else to be said, except wow what a treat. Â Pork chop and rib eye dinners to die for, and ahi tuna appetizer beforehand. Our server was on top of her game.
The look of the building may fool you into thinking its just a pub, but our 2 dinners with one appetizer and one shared dessert, plus drinks was over 100.00.  This is purely observational information for you, I will gladly pay that again!  We will return and have recommended it to many friends as well.
Really tasty food! I ordered the 14oz pork chop which had amazing flavor and cooked just right still moist and hot. My friend ordered the tilapia in which she said was also bursting with flavor also cooked with care. Then came their homemade ice cream. Â Couldn't resist the coconut. always have to test the flavor some places have to offer. and by the way also a great experience with toasted shaved coconut on top.
It almost seems like they hire great people everyone was also very welcoming. Eric our waiter was very personable and offered delicious dishes. Recommend checking it out if your in Reno..
I had dinner with my two teenage children and after dinner they were so satisfied that...thye did not want dessert.
What?!!
I cannot begin to describe what that means as far as the quality of the food here.
The kids both has the penne pasta w/ chicken.
Everyone was completely satisfied.
I will be coming back....definitely recommended without hesitation.
The good-We went on a Saturday night before the theater and were seated immediately, so we could relax and enjoy our meal. Â The piano player was in, and I thought it added a nice ambience-not loud or invasive, just nice tunes for dinner. Â The room was pretty crowded, so we had to sit in the middle (which I hate), but we got friendly, efficient service throughout the meal. Â Sashimi to start--really good fresh fish. Â My wife got the tilapia, which was pretty darn good (I'm not a fish eater, but she really liked it). Â The kid got jambalaya, which was really good, with a little bit of kick to it. Â I got a New York steak, which was the special. Â Would have been really good, but..,
The bad-In an otherwise perfect meal, my steak was overcooked. Â And there's not much hope for an overcooked New York. Â I ordered it medium rare, and it came out closer to medium, if not more cooked than that. Â I would have sent it back, but we had somewhere to be. Â Because I didn't ask for it to be re-done, I can't really complain too much. Â They probably would have made it right. Â Nonetheless, I can't go 5 star for an overcooked steak.
Price-pretty damn reasonable. Â Dinner for three with a bottle of wine (but no dessert) was just over $100. Â Better service than some more expensive places, and I think the piano player is a nice touch. Â Definitely worth giving a try.
Started with a great beer (hazed & infused). for second - clam chowder, Yum Skipped the first (or appraisers by most accounts). from there a beer, OK parmesan coated tilapia. Cooked just the right amount of crisp, just a touch heavy on the sodium.
Not to forget the great bartender Kerry, from an old hang out, nice surprise.
Very nice setting. Clean romantic dinning room..... Server was nice but the highlight of this review is the food. Girlfriend got the ribeye.... Unbelievable, a beautiful cut that you would get in any premiere steakhouse. It came with mashed potatoes and a cinnamon infused squash. A++++ on the steak. I had the linguini clams. Oh ya! About 20 clams in a white wine butter broth with linguini pasta!
The best part is the prices. Extremely reasonable and well worth it.
Had a business dinner here with a group of 6. Â Server was pleasant, fast and knowledgeable. Â Had a steak and prawn special which was very good. Â Better place for a dinner for two than small groups, seating is a bit tight. Â Price is reasonable for the atmosphere and quality of the food. Â Live piano music was a pleasant surprise.
Review Source:The ambiance was welcoming and the food was excellent. Everyone's food at my table was excellent. Right size of portions and everything looked nice and fresh. My fish was cooked very nice, not dry at all. The flavor combinations were tasty too. Their house made ice cream super delicious. My only complaint is the service. It took a really long time to get our appitizer order in and I feel like it took even longer to order dessert. Maybe it was a fluke incident with the service, but I'm willing to come back for more delicious food!
Review Source:I read the reviews and I was thinking this place was going to be great, do not get me wrong it was not bad but just there. Nothing exceptional, nothing to brag about.
The piano is playing and we could not hear much which made it a bit uncomfortable sitting at a table of four smiling and nodding as if we know what the other person is saying.
My food was flavor lacking and also if you serve Chipino you really are suppose to offer bread, not a bread stick but legitimate filling bread. The seafood in my dish, particularly the prawns tasted as if they were scrubbed with soap but never washed clean. The clams were barley cooked at all.
Many of the dishes on the menu in my opinion seamed confused. If you are going to make a pasta clam dish, typically it should be served in a white sauce not butter and noodles.
I do not feel they were overpriced but I do think at the price they charge they could make some major improvements. Nothing was really bad, it just was unmemorable.
I have seen friends rave about this restaurant on facebook in the past and a quick look at the menu online has never inspired us to try but for some reason we decided to last night. I checked yelp for reviews and a phone number to make a reservation and I am still shocked at the number of good to excellent reviews for this restaurant. There is only one review (3*) that is similar to what we experienced last night.
I will start with "up selling". We tried to order the large salad to share and the waiter said, "ok, two salads (2 x $6 = $12)", we tried to clarify that we wanted one large ($9) to share and he said, it would be a better value to get 2 salads which my husband was happy to do but I changed my order to a soup (which was actually very tasty and a good choice).  He was not happy with the salad and a bite with an off flavor made rest of the salad unsatisfying. The couple next to us who ordered a large salad to share were happily served one large salad with an extra bowl - and the large was definitely enough to share.
Now lets talk about price, the food was way overpriced for what they were serving.  I am happy to pay $17-25 for a dish if it is well prepared, creative and high quality ingredients. The meal was none of the above, the pasta was not hand made, the dish was sprinkled with 3 tablespoons of Italian seasoning that was not even cooked long enough to soften so I pulled dry pieces of herb out of my mouth for the entire meal as well as after I was done eating. There was absolutely nothing that made the dish worth more than the 3 dollars it would cost me for ingredients to create the exact same dish at home (which I would not want to replicate at home). The "sauce" was so watery and flavorless it did nothing for the dish. I am not a person who sends food back for any reason but I was so tempted last night, the problem was there was nothing else on the menu I would want to eat- it is very limited and there is nothing exciting on it which is why we had always chosen to eat somewhere else.
My husband was also disappointed with his watery/oily pasta sauce and the linguine was served without a spoon so he ended up with oily sauce splattered all over his shirt (yeah, he should have asked for a spoon but he didn't). Generally when a dish is served with seafood in a shell, a bowl is provided for the shells but instead he piled them up on the side of the dish making it difficult to access the pasta hidden underneath.  (Again, he could have asked but did not).
I was looking forward to trying a dessert after reading the reviews of the homemade ice cream but instead we decided to call it a night.
My boyfriend and I tried this place out in the summer, we were impressed, the food was good and service was great then.
I cannot say the same for our visit last night...we each ordered a bottle of beer, the waiter poured our beer in a way that made it taste flat. Â We started with the soup and salad, the mushroom soup was delicious, the salad was lacking on so many levels. Â For our main course we got the Rib Eye and Prawns & Salmon, this is when we started regretting our decision to come here and spend money on flavorless food. Â I got two prawns, 3 pieces of asparagus, and a slab of salmon over very bland rice. Â The rib eye was lacking in seasonings, it was literally something you could order from Denny's for half the price. Â It came with potatoes and acorn squash (kind of odd I thought). Â When the cook has to drizzle truffle oil on every dish you know somethings whack! Â Not to mention we were breathing in heavy smoke from the kitchen. Â What a weird experience, we won't be going back!
Myself and a group of 5 went here for my birthday dinner. I decided on here thanks to yelp and wasn't misguided. The service was excellent!!!! Oh yea and so was the food. I had their famous pork chop which was cooked a little under for my taste, but it still tasted fine. The winter root mash that came with it was AMAZING! I have no idea what they put in it but man it was good. Other dishes that were ordered included the hanger steak and the garlic prawns. The hanger steak was braised and the meat itself didn't have very much flavor. The gravy that came with it was very tasty and once again the winter root mash was stellar. The garlic prawns were good, a word of caution though, you MUST really like garlic to eat them. You will have garlic breath for a week. The almond rice that came with those wasn't very good, but to me almonds and rice don't really belong together anyway.
Deserts were good. It took about 5 minutes for all 6 of them to disappear. They had a pretty good beer selection. We ordered sweet potato fries, garlic fries and the grilled artichoke for apps. They were all very tasty.
The only reason for the four stars is because there was a very limited "daily" menu. Nothing in all of the research that I did mentioned that this was how they operated and I probably would have made another choice since the full menu had so many options that I wanted to try. Also, our group contained some picky eaters, and I chose this place based on the fact that the full menu had something that I knew everyone would like. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. Overall, go there! Try the pork chop, and be prepared to be stuffed if you do.
Gas Lamp is consistently excellent. We were here last night and it definitely didn't disappoint. The dinning room has low light and a fun assortment of wood tables. Very homey feeling. We started with salads: the winter salad and the ice cube. Both were very good, and a good size-not overwhelmingly large. I had the steelhead and prawns. Very tasty. Served on a bed of rice with almonds and a side of asparagus. The penne and chicken, pork chop, rib eye and tilapia all proved themselves at the table. Â The absolute best part of Gas Lamp though is the amazing home made ice cream. They have a different assortment of flavors every night and they are all so good. We will be back!
Review Source:Great service and great food. Â The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing and the prices are reasonable. Â The special shrimp diablo was wonderful. Also, tried many of the appetizers and they were all great. Â Husband got the rib eye and loved it. Â Not one bad thing here. Â Can't wait to go back.
Review Source:I have been giving this some thought.
We went here for my sisters birth day.
I had not been since this current incarnation.
The feel of the restaurant is ok but it seems to be lacking a finishing touch in decor.
The waitress was friendly and efficient.
The food was totally uninspired. Salad was not of the home/restaurant made variety. The dressing was I suspect from  a tub or bottle.
The clams were good with the texture being spot on.
Pork chop, all that comes to mind is I do one with flavour at home. This one was semi dry and no real seasoning permeating the meat. Peaches were fine, and the mash potato again uninspired.
The Italian seafood thingie, I forget what they called it was not something one would rave about let alone mention to anyone as a suggestion.
And now you all might want to reconsider what you are calling bread. Bread points grilled on a open flame is not really what one wants when one asks for bread as side.
Why have I been thinking about this, well it was not horrible but it was not good enough to want to come back and try something else. With such a limited menu everything should wow you and it just did not hit the mark.
Oh and we sat where the air-conditioner can be heard to the point of drowning out the backgroud music.
Whoopsy! Forgot to write my review for this cozy establishment. "Fine foods, spirits and friends," ah, nothing like a campy slogan!
My girlfriend and I decided to enjoy a "fine" meal on her dinner break and we figured this place was worth a go. To start, a delightful caprese salad. It tastes like many other caprese salads, but a good one is a good one. The lady went for a burger (she learns from me so well) and in the interest of not getting two of the same dish, I upgraded to a steak. Well, I thought I was upgrading, but it turned out I was mostly grading. First things first - no baked potato? What on earth is this!? I didn't realize I was eating at a classy Chili's.
That being said, the quality of the meat - the steak at least - was good. It was a a healthy cut to be sure. The problem is I ordered my steak medium rare and I was given a steak cooked medium well. Do I not look manly enough? I realize I'm skinny and not particularly hairy, but technically I am a man. And after all, I didn't order it totally rare, just medium rare. Medium man. That's what I am. But anyway, I'm overlooking the more important part where I got a medium well steak - the kind my mother gets - and I don't have time to get a new one because it took too long to come out and my girlfriend has to get back to work!
The server was slow to check back with us after delivering the food, but offered to send it back and make a new one, but I could not accept that offer, as time was too much of a factor. It would have been nice, then, to be offered some sort of compensation for the error. Even something simple like free dessert would have been nice. But no! At least if I went to Chili's they would have done something for me. The world owes me everything and I want all of it.
Oh, we did still end up getting a scoop of their homemade maple nut ice cream (I think that's what it was called - maple toffee maybe). It was delicious.
So I would consider trying it again sometime and I'm sure others would have a positive experience there, but for brazenly questioning my manhood and almost proving it by not compensating me at all (I spin it by saying I took it like a man), I give it 3 stars.
Absolutely fantastic service.
They have a new happy hour deal which is totally worth checking it out, half off appetizers and wine. My buddy Jeff C and I shared 4 apps and 4 glasses of wine and we walked out for less than $25 (plus tip).
A whole pound of garlic steamed clams was $4!!! Check out the picture.
The best meal I have eaten in a long time. Â I went here on a Sunday based on the fabulous yelp reviews I read. Â At first, I had a bit of trepidation because the place was empty. Â However, as soon as the food started coming, that fear went away.
I had the chinese chicken salad to start. Â Totally delicious with tangy perfect dressing. Â For my second plate, I had the shrimp with coconut curry. Â Absolutely incredible! Â
For dessert, I had the brownie with homemade coconut ice cream and hot fudge. Â WOW.
I wish this restaurant was closer to where I live. Â If it did, I'd be there at least once a month!
The Gas Lamp continues to shine as Chef Danny and his staff have really found their stride. Â The food remains well executed, and a great value. Â Service levels are better and more consistent as well.
Look for the some new menu changes/seasonal updates coming up this month.
P.S. - Do not miss the desserts....all housemade including the ice cream by Danny's wonderful pasrty chef (and sister). Â She deserves to be recognized for her delicious creations as well!
We had dinner here Friday night. Â I have driven by it a few times and always thought the outside paint job looked neat. Â I have to say I am glad we gave it a shot. The food was amazing and well priced for what you got. You must have the ice salad for starters followed by the pork chop. Â A thick cut of meat slow cooked (22 min so get the order in quick) to perfection. Â I have paid 26 for a far less quality piece of meat.
They make their own sweets too. Even the ice cream
Went here for the first time tonight because it is in the top 20 of yelp and only "2 dollar signs."
I think this place is just as good, if not better, than 4th St Bistro and Lululs, but at a much more reasonable price. Â I ordered the tipapia dish. Â The fish was good, but the rice was too salty for my taste.
Will definitely be back sometime.
Upon the recommendation from several people, I decided to take my date here for supper.
Upon arrival, we were instantly greeted by a hostess. She took us to our table (which is where Governor Sandoval had just been sitting) and gave us our menus.
The waitress promptly came to our table with a euro-style glass bottle of water and poured us each a glass. We both ordered a glass of Syrah. The bartender was quite generous with the volume in our glasses.
When it came time to order, I opted for the Chicken Penne, while She (my date) opted for the pork chop. We were notified that the chop would take a while to prepare, so we ordered the Bleu Cheese Garlic Bread. This was phenomenal; a light covering of Bleu Cheese brought a texture and dimension of flavor that we both enjoyed.
Once our meals arrived, we were greeted with the thickest pork chop I have ever seen. It had nice searing/charring and a what looked to be a Demi-glacé.  This paired well with the Syrah, bringing a great dynamic to the meal.
My Chicken Penné was also very satisfying; full of flavor. The melted cheese with bread crumbs was a good addition. Just enough sauce, and the chicken had its own unique flavor, too. The Syrah also paired well with this dish, bringing out the freshness of the ingredients and a delightful peppery note.
For dessert, I ordered the Port, while she had the Mint-Chip ice cream. No imitation peppermint here! It tasted like real mint leaves. It was the freshest ice cream we had ever tasted, not to mention, a great palate cleanser.
The total for our meal was right about $70, and well worth it! Â
In short - great food, great atmosphere, awesome service, and decent prices.
If you're looking for a new dining spot, give the friendly folks at The Gas Lamp a try; you won't be let down!
What a wonderful surprise! Ate here last night on the recommendation of a friend; definitely not disappointed.
Service: Just right. Knowledgeable, friendly, engaging.
Food: Had the artichoke appetizer - half a steamed artichoke drizzled with balsamic and then grilled, served with lemon-garlic aioli. Really tasty. Dinner for me was seafood stew in a tomato base served with grilled polenta. Again, very, very good. Was pleased they made a modification for me without hesitation. Dessert was home-made ice cream - again, very good. Menu had lots of interesting options.
Atmosphere: This might be where they lose a point. It's fine - a bit dark and a bit stark, but nothing to complain about. Food and service more than made up for it.
Total bill for three people (3 entrees, 1 appy, 1 dessert, and 5 drinks) was $104.
I would recommend this place without hesitation, and would eat there again. I don't want this to be a "best kept secret" kind of place because I thought my meal was great, and I want to be able to eat there for years to come!
