A sample size of one isn't fair, perhaps, but the sample was so at odds with other reviews I feel this need to inflict my opinion upon you.
Firstly, I love the idea of a place like this and am glad we have this in Greensboro - I wish them every success and hope more such establishments open and that the quirky in our society gain prominence.
The coffee was not good. Hot and brown, certainly, but not much taste of coffee. And, surprisingly, almost all the people there looked like they were soccer moms, and the men looked like husbands of soccer moms. I do hope the place hasn't been discovered by those normal people (shudder).
Admittedly we were there before noon, perhaps too early for the quirky and the right time for those unfortunate and/or unwise enough to be burdened by infants (anudder shudder).
And just so you know, I myself am eccentric, socially awkward and ashamed of owning  Abercrombie & Fitch pants - as eccentric as it gets in Greensboro, you'll doubtless agree.
I hope to return when the people watching is better. Maybe the coffee will be better too.
In regards to its function as a coffeehouse: This summer I have been typically getting an iced coffee and I am always happy with it. Their coffee doesn't tend to have a very bitter or burnt taste to it like many other establishments. I like their large variety of flavored syrups (which includes: toasted marshmallow, coconut, and your more typical choices).
Everything else is just an added bonus! I like the number of events that Joe and his staff put together to try to appeal to all the different aspects of "geek life" -- art, movies, video games, tv shows, and more. Overall, I would just say that Geeksboro has a very nice environment and is a wonderful addition to Greensboro.
FUN, family-friendly (even in the late hours -- my son was welcome to play Mario Kart Racing with the adults who were playing), fabulous latte frappe. The food is kind of pricey for what it is but it was worth the experience. Even the method of receiving a receipt (at least for a Visa transaction) is cool -- in e-mail, totally paperless!
The people who work there are friendly, the owner is hands-on and welcoming, and who can argue with all the free events that go on there (like board game night and family movie night)? Heck, they even have a Tardis! We love this place and will return often!
