Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse

Wanted to take an out-of-town friend to a nice place and Gibson's figured a lot in conversations so I thought why not. Its a fairly upscale place (of course!) that have people coming in that really take their meat seriously...I mean really. The service is prompt and polite but reservations are HIGHLY recommend. The place prides in having it's own brand of premium beef and they make it a point to mention that more than once :)

We ordered chicken livers and goat cheese salad to start with and paired the evening with a bottle of Malbec.. For main course we went for W.R.'s Chicago Cut (22 oz) and Van Well Farms Lamb Chops (18 oz)...we got them medium rare and medium... They both were fabulous! I mean...when they say that the juices are all trapped in the charred outer crust...THEY MEAN IT! Very tasty and  flavorful..it was hard to keep the table manners going...

Excellent service, attentive and prompt...always eager to provide as much information as you want...

My daughter and I attended a taping of America's Got Talent at the Rosemont Theatre and decided to stop at Gibson's for late lunch.  We sat at the bar and ordered the crabmeat avocado appetizer and three pieces of tenderloin sliders to share.   When the food came out it had tons of fries with the sliders.  We had no idea the fries were included.  The server told us it was good for the soul.  The fries were very good but unfortunately a half of it was wasted.   Crabmeat avocado appetizer was okay.  It had good seasoning but the crabmeat tasted like it was out of the can.

This was a fantastic experience.  Service was impeccable, food was perfect, and the atmosphere classy.  If you're in the area I'd recommend this above all other steakhouses.  The steak was the star, cooked perfectly inside, with a nice, flavorful char on the outside.  The crabmeat and avocado appetizer was very good, and the complimentary bread was a nice touch.  Service was unobtrusive, yet incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.  A manager stopped by soon after the food arrived to check on us and left a business card with the invitation to ask for him anytime if we needed anything.  Free valet service, too.   Can't wait for our next trip to Chicago to visit again.
