Bartender was not helpful and a little rude.  A whole table walked out because of her lack of customer service.

I'm not hating it as casual as it is.
Just be prepared for the loud unexpected chopping of wood right behind you as you're taking your first bite and your waitress eating her lunch at the bar right in front of you.

    Food was good.

This is supposed to be the oldest bar "west of the Mississippi".

We found it a great dive bar with good drinks and music.

DANCE PARTY! Ok, so I didn't eat here, but I did end up here at the end of the night and the place was packed. No cover for girls. $3 cover for guys (although I think the bouncer just made this up to pick up some extra cash). The DJ was spinning great music and everyone was having a great time dancing. There are 2 bars and the bartenders were friendly despite being so busy.

Food's okay, but definitely worth a visit.

Wandered in pretty much at random after driving up from Denver.  Gold Pan is not your stereotypical hoity toity resort town restaurant/bar; this place would fit in well in Bakersfield, CA.

As breakfast is served all day, (leading to the interesting gustatory melange of beer and pancakes), ordered the Monte Cristo, reasoning that it's pretty hard to screw up something fried.  Turns out, they don't fry the Monte Cristo.  Instead of the canonical ham and cheese sandwich dipped in batter and deep fried, theirs is instead a ham and turkey sandwich served in a rather dry french toast cover.  Ham and turkey were also dry, but definitely edible.  Things changed when I decided to give up on "lunch" and dumped a flood of pancake syrup (Aunt Jemima, not maple) over the whole deal and attack it with a knife and fork.  Much better.  But I still wish they'd dipped and fried it.

My pal got a quesadilla.  Odd that a Western restaurant doesn't have guacamole, just avocado slices.

The trick to Ring-A-Washer is to give the washer a healthy thrust forward and to the side on its way to the hook.  Gravity itself is insufficient.

Walking down Main Street looking for a place that was open around noon as most of the restaurants are dinner only. Stumbled into this place and had the best breakfast I've had in a while. Small place with a nice western feel. Waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Got the huevos rancheros. Best I've ever had!! Boyfriend got the panwich and we both finished our giant plates because they were that good. Definitely recommend!!

Food was good but everything came with unhealthy chips and they couldn't do substitutes. $2 for a small side of spinach is a rip off... my girlfriend said it's the best chili she's ever had, and I agree that it is very good although we had to remove half the cheese because it was too much. After that, there's not much chili left. Fine for a cheaper meal, just don't expect much.

This was literally one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I tried to order a Jack Honey. They didn't have it. So I ordered a Dewars instead. Nope, didn't have that either. I was hoping the food would be better. Not so much. After waiting an hour, my sliders came out cold and half of them didn't have the bun tops.

Middle of the day, kinda boring.  Day drunk for $2 a beer, kinda worth it.

    We had breakfast here.

I liked how they kept the decor 100% authentic. It felt like we stepped into the 1920s. The Jack Daniels water bottle was a nice touch.

My egg benedict was pretty good, but flavorless. The hollandise sauce had no flavor at all. It was a little strange. The hash browns, on the other hand, were awesome!

    Service was quick and prompt.

    This place was turrrrible.

After ordering medium rare burgers, both my husband and I were served burgers that were far beyond medium well. We sent them back after pointing out the problem (and after the waitress apologetically agreed), only to have them returned to us more well done than ever. Wow. Is it really this impossible to get a good burger in CO?

The waitress was ok, though she told us she'd comp both our burgers (we were just two of a party of six) but ended up not doing so. Maybe she forgot? Whatever.

Either way, the experience was far less than stellar and we will not be back again.

Rather than call "The Pan" a Breckenridge bar, I would call it the heart and soul of old Breckenridge. The food has always been wildly variable, as is the standard of cleanliness. Cheap drinks and plain folks. Breck is full of joints with pretenses to class, The Pan is the real deal.

We liked this so much we ate breakfast here two days in a row. And I don't even really like breakfast!

Both days I had The Spring Meyer $ 9.95 (two poached eggs with spinach, tomatoes, avocado covered with hollandise on an English Muffin with homefries). It has just a little hollandaise with a little extra lemon. A perfect breakfast that wasn't too heavy and the eggs still had some ooze.

My huband had the corned beef hash and deemed it excellent.

We stopped in here while we waited for our table at Giampietro and I'm glad we did. The bar has a very old-timey-mine-town feel. They have $2 PBR's all day, which is great when you're on a budget but want to get your drink on in Breck. The bartender was very friendly and made us feel welcome.

OK, so maybe I don't know how this bar compares to others in Breckenridge, but this hit the spot.  We were on our way back to SLC from Denver and took an alt route through Breckenridge.  I wanted a beer before we began again on our journey, so we parked in the first empty spot and decided to walk up Main until we found a bar/pub.

This was the first bar we came across.  The sign said "Saloon" and, seriously, the place looked like a Wild West saloon.

Not a ton on draft, but the Hoptober IPA they did have on tap was great.  Our bartender, Keith, was seriously a very cool guy.  He gave us a few recommendations which led to us buying one really awesome Bourbon by Breckenridge Distillery and another whiskey by Stranahan.

I can't wait to go back to Breckenridge.

Oh man.  This is EXACTLY what I was looking for!

I came to Breckenridge for a work function.  So needless to say, after a long day of travel, and work related mumbo jumbo, I was reeeeaaaaaaadddyyyy tooooo parrrrrrrtaaaaayyy!  (with the best of friends)... Bridesmaids anyone?  Hello?  Anyone there? ::tap tap tap::: is this thing on?

Anyhow, we hop on our chartered shuttle thing from the resort and the driver asked us where we wanted to go, and i said,

"I want to go to a total locals dive bar.  A place that is made of all wood.  Has a bartender named Pappy, and sells Pabst like it was a microbrew" And boy, did he deliver!

This bar was amazing.  Buck shot game, a "dj" spinning his best in country tunes, awesome locals who were so high and drunk off their asses, and an old lookin miner who looked like he has been there since the bar opened up in 1879. Total diamond in the rough.

Not a bad place for breakfast. The panwhich was our favorite. Our experience was a good one. Loved the historical part of the experience.

Have I ever been to Chicago?
    Are you kidding me?

    "This is COLORADO lady!"

The first time I walked through the doors to this shrine to all things glorious about Colorado drinking I heard this being exclaimed from inside...

It's all about knowing what ya came in the swinging doors for ya'll.
If you didn't get chills down yer spine and think, "which one of you fuckers is deadeyed Dick?" the moment you walked in the door maybe it wont be so easy to figure out that this aint the place to have some friggin crepes!

The only time I have eaten breakfast at the Pan (come to think of it I have about a hundred times) was when I was still there from the night before.  But really who cares right? I dont go to my mechanic for a haircut and I dont go to the Gold Pan for crepes. I do however go to "the OC" when I want to laugh at douchebags who look for Crepes in a saloon, but I digress.

(please refer to my Supercuts review for my breakdown of their delicious eggshell free crepes!)

I love this place more than I can say. Yeah it has changed since the off season Wednesday night skirt night theme in the 90's. The music is different, the snow is not as deep, Kennydog is gone (RIP).... Bless your sweet soul brother!

I've seen some of the funniest most beautifool moments from these stools.
I have seen brawls that filled the place with flying glass, Goldschlager soaked trouser legs (I was wearing em), I even watched a buddy politely ask the barkeep for a pool cue right before he ran screaming "this is my table!" across the bar at a dude who later kicked his ass.

I even met my wife here... Seriously.

Walking in here still makes me feel like nowhere else.
You will know if it's for you the moment you touch the swinging doors.
Leave your crepes outside and revel it's awesomeness.
    I love you Gold Pan.

Very old timey, old mining feel to this bar.

We weren't here long so I can't comment too much. We enjoyed the beer we had and watching some people far drunker than we were try to play a Ring A Washer game.

I definitely liked this place. there was a dj but all he was playing was pretty much skrillex songs and blending them together, nothing original, so I hope they didn't pay him much! there was a cool vibe between locals and tourists; who don't always get along. our bartender was a little slow for it not being so busy and breck opening in a few days. I am also from chicago so maybe I just expect more out of my bartenders? eitherway I had a great time and was there a few times during my trip!

I've had pretty mixed experiences here - the first time I went was a blast and they had a great happy hour. Seriously cheap beers for a place like Breck, nice dive-bar atmosphere. Second time I went I got a white Russian that was $10. Thought that was a little steep for a drink in a rocks glass.

I've never had food there, and I don't suspect it would be anything special, but go for the happy hour and drink cheap beer. Just don't order anything they have to mix.

my favorite bar in breckenridge! granted, sometimes i'm the only one who wants to go there ... but i love the atmosphere. it's a place where at 2 p.m. in the afternoon you can walk by and see a couple old guys at the bar, sipping their buds. the ring toss, the hunting game, the occasional live band ... it is a random bar with a random crowd and a good, classic, rough 'n tough wild west vibe. sometimes chill, sometimes people are on the bar dancing. you never know!

Not so great. The food was ok but nothing special with the exception of the blueberry pancakes. Unless you're in a hurry or just tired of walking Main Street, skip the Gold Pan and try the crepes up the street a ways.

The Gold Pan is to me, what a Breckenridge bar should be.  It represents Breckenridge, an old-time mining town now turned into a tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts and ski bums just perfectly.  The place just feels like an old-time wild-West bar.  I've heard rumors that you can actually see bullet holes in the bar, but I've never been in there with lighting good enough to see that.  It's a bit off the beaten path on a less busy part of Main Street, but that only adds to the allure for me - less of a party scene on this part of Main Street.

You can go in on a hectic Friday or Saturday, or visit it on a weeknight where you'll run into many of the locals.  So, cozy up to the bar for relatively cheap drinks, listen to some live music, play some bar games in the back room and take in the atmosphere.  You just may run into the ghost of an old, alcoholic miner.

Went here last weekend out west. We went Friday night, Saturday night and of course sunday night...This place always delivers, good drinks, fast service and a no BS policy, they dont try to be anything they aren't, theyre a bar and thats it...They let you bring in pizza from Eric's (down the street) and they seem to not mind overly drunk tourists (or we wouldnt have gone back every night for our 5th trip out west)

I only wish they had a 5% rebate program that you would get back on your last night...

One of the worst restaurants in Breckenridge. Not only was our service terrible, but the food was as well. How do you mess up omelets for breakfast? For the answer, ask Gold Pan. Egg shells in our breakfast, wrong ingredients...Disgusting. When we asked for extra fruit instead of potatoes, we received no extra fruit, but a quarter slice of melon. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. This is not worth it. Go someplace else, even if there is a wait....

Nothing like sidling up to a saloon!  If you stop in the tourist office, you'll find coupons for $1 shortie beers at happy hour. The bartender said she'd never seen them, but she accepted them, most importantly.

Not my favorite bar downtown Breck, but it has its purpose.  If you are looking for a slightly more chill night than you can get at Salt Creek or Cecilia's then this is your place.

We come here typically once during our trips to hang out and have a couple drinks.  The bartenders are always very cool and very nice.  They pour good drinks and usually have some good stories.

Also this was the first bar that I've seen the ring game, which is hilarious.  It always amazes me how many people can sit there for that long throwing a ring on a string on a hook.  Great simple drunken game.

Have you ever been to Chicago? Estelles is an accurate comparison to this place. A chill place with decent prices until the thwards of tourists and drunkards run it into a frenzy. This is the type of place I would accidentally get caught up in a bar fight in. I have gone here for some enjoyable drunk dancing, but on the whole I do avoid this place for other, less 'frat boy- like' establishments.

This was the start of many a drunken Friday nights for me in Breckenridge!  I used to work in one of the offices just next to this top notch drinking establishment so it was rather convenient for me to drop by on my way home.  They used to have 25 cent beers on Fridays until 9pm or so and I'd guess they probably still do.  As you can imagine this place was a favorite  for locals and lucky tourists alike on such nights.

Maybe I am bit bias, but I did meet my husband here.  He, a ski bum...me, a law student...oh, the irony.  Anyway, the Gold Pan is a stodgy little joint with Natural Light on tap so don't expect anything too fancy.

The ring toss, pool tables, and juke box bring in the locals and tourists alike.  Rumor has it that it is the oldest bar West of the Mississippi River and I believe it.  The saloon doors still greet you when you walk in the door.

I will always love the Gold Pan - cheers to good times and great memories!
