Where can I start, nothing but awesome things to say about this place. Â The Food, Drink, and Staff are stellar and it comes from the top down. Â Josh & Matt (formerly of Vickery Park) are brilliant. Â I recommend getting El Jefe, Fried Green Beans, and a Tank 7... Â or what ever specialty locally brewed beer from Lakewood - Deep Ellum - Peticolas, Rahr that they recommend. Â Chances are, you will be one of the first select few in DFW to try it before all of your friends have or other establishments get their supply. Â The bartenders or as they should be called - Cicerones (equivalent of a Beer Sommelier) are outstanding. Â There will be a wait for seating at peak times, but that should be expected at a premier location.
Review Source:We were looking for a place to meet some friends and they mentioned they'd like a place with a patio and my husband was like "I want a place with gluten free burger" and I always want to try a new place. Â When I googled our needs Goodfriend popped up and I'd always heard good things about it. Great! Now, although I grew up in Garland and should have realized how very, very far east this place is when we live very, very far west but once we got settled in at Goodfriend, it didn't matter that we drove way out of our way!
Very hoppin' scene (although no problem finding parking luckily) on a Saturday night. Â No way to get on a list for the patio, just open seating (which I think is kind of lame, there wasn't really a way to watch for an opening without feelings like a creep trying to will people out of their seats) but we sat at the bar for a while and then got seated indoors (I mean, the patio does just face a parking lot and the big garage doors of the place were open so "inside" wasn't that much different than outside.) Â The bartender (John) was awesome with recommendations and brought us out a sample of a beer and shook our hands and all that. Â Sometimes in a "hipstery" place, the service is apathetic but I'm glad this place is cool, plays good music (well, "good" is relative, there was a Ween song played, which my husband and his friend loved of course) AND has friendly service.
We started with the Spuds MacKenzie which was an epic amount of waffle cheese fries with ranch on the side, pure cheesy potato heaven. Then I got the Loretta and DAMN I was full of fries and beer and not even really hungry at that point but the first bite was shocked me back into eating mode. Â The onion bacon jam was just perfect- little bits of sweet savory bacon in every bite of already delicious meat. Â Cooked medium was fine with me, then the bite of the blue cheese, gah I want to eat it again right now. I actually did only eat half and then the rest the next morning, even microwaved it was still super amazing. My husband had the sauerkraut burger which was everything he could have dreamed of (although the fried pickles were decidedly not GF he took the chance.) I've eaten plenty of tasty burgers but when I close my eyes and think about that Loretta all I can see is 5 red stars flashing, so I've made my review reflect that!
I don't have out of town visitors often, but when I do, I take them to Goodfriend. For good reason. Goodfriend is emblematic of what's good about what's happening in our neighborhood. Â Great food, excellent service in a comfortable, yet classy setting. Not classy as in snob appeal. Classy in the sense of a place you could take either a date or your grandma, or both. A true neighborhood watering hole with something for the whole family.
Review Source:Visited this spot yesterday around 3:30 pm when they are in the midst of transitioning between food service which we were informed of upon arrival. Â Our waitress walked up and greeted us, gave us the rundown and instead of saying "sorry no food until 4" and walking away like some places likely would have she told us the apps were worth the wait and offered us booze in the meantime. Â I consider myself quite educated in beer this girl...she knew it all. Â We started with a sample of Hop Trapp fro Lakewood brewery because my friend didn't think he liked IPAs and she insisted she could changed his mind and low and behold, she did. Â I had an Ommegang rare VOS, delicious! Â Sadly we were starving so we only had the two beers but we will be back soon to try out the food. Â Don't recall the waitresses name (red hair) but hopefully the entire staff is an knowledgeable, can't wait to try the food.
Review Source:I am only reviewing Goodfriend in terms of their drinks. Â I went here with friends to get lunch, but their kitchen didn't open until 5pm?! Â We were pretty frustrated. Â The menu looks great, but we weren't able to partake in any of it. Â The service was good, as were the drinks. Â I didn't think it was anything special. Â I'm sure we will go back at some point to check out the food.
Review Source:After all the Yelp hype and the multiple friend recommendations, I FINALLY got around to giving Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House a try! However after all the raving about their burgers.......I must confess I didn't have burger. However, I did have a meatloaf sandwich and I'm sure willing to go out on a limb and say that's a part of the hamburger family tree.
We came early on a Saturday night to soak up the perfect 80 degree Texas evening and the patio was already packed. Parking isn't a breeze but we lucked out on scoring a princess parking spot right up front and then snagging a patio spot right away. We started out with beers and I opted for the Franconia Wheat (Hefeweizen). I scanned the food menu for the perfect burger yet my eyes kept going back to the "Bat Out of Hell" Meatloaf sandwich. I decided to roll with it and I was glad I did. It was a mountain of Siracha-glazed meatloaf with mashed potatoes piled on Challah bread. To add to our gluttony, we split a Spuds MacKenzie, a plate of waffle fries doused in cheese, jalapenos, bacon, and chives.
Overall, the food and beer was fantastic at Goodfriend. The service is friendly but a little sparse. Their servers cover quite a few tables so it was occasionally a challenge to find our server. But I wasn't too bummed, our server was sweet and friendly either way. I definitely recommending coming early or planning to wait for the ideal table, this place fills up fast. It's a superb patio to watch the Texas sunset.
We really enjoyed our dinner here with a couple of friends. My husband and I opted for hot dogs rather than burgers, and we both thought they were delicious! The sweet potato waffle fries were also amazing, and something you don't find at many other places in Dallas. We sat on the patio on a pretty Spring day and had a great time. The service was quick and friendly. We'll definitely be back!
Review Source:Located in the middle of the "Austin 2.0" stretch on Peavy--as I refer to the shopping center with Good 2 Go Taco, Cultivar, Goodfriend, and 20 Feet Sea Food--Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House is yet another example of the young padawan surpassing his jedi master. Â It's similar to Hopdoddy or other such establishments but with better burgers, fries, and atmosphere.
Weather permitting, the outdoor patio is the perfect place to enjoy a cold beer on a hot Dallas summer night. Â The craft brew selection is pretty good, though definitely skewed towards lighter beers. Â I thought the $5 I paid for my draft was rather reasonable.
But the real stars of the show are the burgers and sweet potato waffle fries. Â The Coop was absolutely delicious. Â Tons of brie, well-peppered bacon, a fried egg, and a fresh bun. Â What's there not to love?! Â As other reviews have mentioned, though, you can't go wrong with any of the burgers here. Â And don't forget to have some of the sweet potato waffle fries--a definite must. Â They're not crunchy or soggy, and the large flakes of salt are a nice addition. Â The portions of fries are pretty big, along with huge burgers, so you can probably share a single order of fries among a few people.
For good beers and burgers, Goodfriend hangs with--and surpasses--the best of them. Â I'll be back...once I digest all this food!
"Bacon Onion Jam" ... enough said. I literally dream about this burger. Great atmosphere and food. Â Its a wonderful neighborhood restaurant/bar. I've never been disappointed. I'm from Lakewood and am currently living in Boston and when I came home a few weeks ago this was on my list of places to go. Â My friends all came and we had great service and so much fun eating and drinking on the patio. Great memories.
Review Source:Goodfriend, you're a good time !
I've always heard great things about this place and finally made it over here yesterday. It was happy hour, weather was warm. Great time for some patio day drinking.
Beer prices are a little tough, but at least select drafts are a dollar off during happy hour.
We started off with a couple of beers and loaded cheese fries. These things were overwhelmingly loaded with cheese. If that's your deal you will love it.
We went on to burgers and I opted for the Loretta, medium with blue cheese and a bacon onion jam. It's went down awesomely with the recommended pairing of a stout Lakewood temptress.
I really liked it and I will be back, their burger styles really remind me of hopdoddy.
Not really sure that the Goodfriend crew needs my help with a review, but I'm giving it to them anyhow! Love this place! The burger choices are varied and unique and each one I've had has been delicious! Overpriced? Maybe, for a person like me who doesn't eat out often, but BEING that person and still being fine with paying what you pay at Goodfriend, that tells ya how good it is! Even better is the huge selection of beers and the bar staff, male or female, who are knowledgeable about the beers they're serving. Not just because they've read about them, but because they've had them and enjoyed them. It's been really crowded when I've gone. You might have to wait a little bit, but get over yourself and your need for immediate service and just enjoy the company your with or the fantastic people watching. Great place!
Review Source:Love this place. Bartenders will take good care of you if you ask them their opinion. I never have the same beer twice. There are just too many choices to try. Food is good. The coop is fab and their cuddly pigs are a fave. I also love love their cheddar slaw. It comes with the q-Bert but you can order it on its own. Don't miss the fried green beans.
Review Source:It's rare that I can eat the BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD and drink THE BEST BEER I'VE EVER HAD in the same place, but I did...and it was here. Â
A few weeks ago, I heard they had some Kentucky Breakfast Stout on tap, so I raced over and got two glasses of what is probably the best beer I've ever had. Â And then, the other night, I was there having dinner and decided to try the Loretta. Â This burger was so good, it made all other burgers I've ever had pale in comparison (and this includes the El Jefe, which is another burger on their menu...brisket, bacon, cheese, burger...it's a meat lovers dream). Â
I know I might be biased, because I love bleu cheese like it's one of my children, but that paired with the onion-bacon jam...yeah, that's right...JAM...was out of this world taste bud exploding fantastic. Â Even the bun was a culinary delight!
I've eaten here a few times, and with the exception of a painful experience with the hot wings, every time has been wonderful. Â Thanks!
This is tragic example of being popular because of the hype, not the quality. Â We finally drove well east of where we live in order to check out this location and add in to my DFW burger quest list. Â Sadly, this experience fell very short of expectations.
I have no problem with waiting to get into an establishment to dine. Â More often than not, its a sign of being in the right place. Â After waiting for our table and having menus dropped off, I do however have an issue with waiting nearly 15 minutes for our server to return and take an order or answer questions. Â Now, unlike most people, I'm not just saying 15 minutes as an exaggeration of a significant amount of time spent in the means of how it felt... I can assure it was this long because we both checked in on Yelp at the time we reached the host stand and entered our name on the wait list. Â It took about 5 minutes tops to be seated, and after waiting and waiting, we took out our phones to check our check in time, which was then at 23 minutes. Â Ipso facto, at least waited for 15 minutes for the server to return, all the while debating whether to just leave. Â We weren't the only ones either, as the three guests dining next to us and having had arrived earlier than us were overheard asking as to where she had disappeared. Â Being in the industry, its one thing if you're slammed busy, I get that. Â But when I can watch from afar as you are chatting with the hosts, the bartender, and standing around at the service rail of the bar, that's a different story.
My second issue seems trivial, but it aggravates me endlessly: If something is on your menu, have it in house. Â If not, be sure than your staff is aware and can communicate that to the guest. Â After waiting forever for the server to return, I ordered a beer with my meal. Â After another mildly significant wait, the server returned to inform me that the beer in question was currently sold out and asked if there was something else I would want. Â 1) if its on your main menu list and not the seasonal table card, you should have it in house always since you know it will be ordered. Â 2) As mentioned before, communicate that with your staff so that the guest can know. Â Maybe the server didn't pay attention in pre-shift, IDK, but from a diner's standpoint, looks to me like considerations and ordering wasn't made to provide some of the highlighted beers.
My final, and most significant issue comes with food preparation. Â Hot food should be served hot. Â I mean, that's not rocket science. Â My girlfriend's burger patty was cooked to the right temperature, but- and I could speculate 50 reasons why- was served cold with unmelted cheese on top. Â This seems like a simple issue to fix and something that should have been caught before being sold from the kitchen. Â If she's not happy, you can be assured that I'm not happy about it. Â My burger lacked flavor development and depth, but I can get over the recipe because I can choose not to return to a location in favor of others. Â However, when food is served in a manner that is unpleasing and must be sent back to be corrected, then I take issue.
The food was marginal at best, atmosphere was decent, and service was deplorable. Â Check my Best Burger Quest list and I can show you 30 other places to try first. Â The only good thing about Goodfriend for me was knowing that we won't have to drive 45 minutes to try it out again...
Been to Goodfriend several times now. Love this place.
Their fried pickles are delicious. Well seasoned batter, extra crispy, and the side of ranch is a great compliment. So far they are my favorite item on the menu.
Burgers: I have only tried the Loretta - I am partial to blue cheese, which pairs nicely with the onion bacon jam.
Bar: Great beer selection. Excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable bartenders that not only know their beers, but can mix a great cocktail as well.
Atmosphere: Overall, it is a non pretentious neighborhood spot that blends restaraunt and bar in a fun vibrant manner.
Oh. My. Goodness. I've been hearing about this place for months, but it seems like there are so many "awesome burger" places springing up all over the place, so I didn't quite buy into the hype.
Now I'm the one hyping.
I had the Loretta. Seriously the best burger I ever ate. Topped with onion-bacon jam (which I would slather on anything...so sweet and tangy) and this amazing blue cheese that had just enough flavor with being overpowering. All served on a bun that held up perfectly throughout the eating of the hamburger. No drippy mess.
We started with the Cuddly Pigs (their version of pigs in a blanket), which came with a spicy mustard dipping sauce that was, for me, the highlight of the dish. We also split an order of sweet potato fries. Pretty standard sweet potato fries -- nothing out of the ordinary, but good.
The only thing I'll do differently next time is order the burger medium-rare. It was cooked perfectly medium (which is what the menu states), but it was just a little too done for my taste. I like a juicy burger. (But then there's that whole "drippy mess" thing to contend with...)
Coming to terms with this place and its limits. It's a good place to hang out on certain nights and at certain times. When it's good, it's really good. When it's bad, it's terrible. What make it good is the dark interior, and great beers. What makes it bad is the huge crowds, the babies, children and dogs. Last time I was there, I turned around and a little girl had picked up my menu and was chewing on it. It was 9 o'clock on a weeknight. Put your kids to bed, people.
I still think parking is awful and that they're overly impressed with their own menu. It's decent, but not as great as they think it is.
Fun place to hang out. Friendly staff and great food. They don't start serving the full menu until 5 and it fills up fast so get there early. If you drink try the Moscow Mule it's delicious. They have a great beer selection including some the local brew houses. The burgers are very tasty as are the salads and appetizers. I love having this place in the neighborhood.
Review Source:The best (only?) gastropub in East Dallas. Sandwiches and burgers are their specialties, but there is a great selection of appetizers, as well. Burgers are cooked to preferred doneness. Don't be shy. "The Coop" and "Q-bert" (new and not listed on the website) are personal favorites; the "Mary, Mary" is excellent, as well.
There are sixteen taps; ten regular and six rotators. A list of the rotators can be found on a sheet pf butcher paper posted near the head. Be warned, though. Friday and Saturday nights are busy. The kegs are usually blown and scratched from the list. The staff don't often indicate replacements. So, ask.
Service can be sketchy at times -- especially when they are busy. Wait times for a table can be lengthy at peak times as well. The latter is a good indication of their popularity.
Though they open at noon on the weekends, food service does not begin until 16:00 -- primarily because they share a kitchen with their neighbor, Good2Go Taco. Patrons are welcome and encouraged to order something at Good2Go and grab a pint or two here!
Goodfriend is dog friendly. Bring your pooch and enjoy eating in the patio area.
Overall, we love to stop in for a late lunch and grab a few tasty brews.
I'm not going to lie, I'm from Austin and I have a penchant to think anything Dallas offers is second rate but I must say Goodfriend is actually better than any comparable offering in the ATX.
It's basically Hopdoddy with burgers that are just as tasty but more inventive along with a much larger beer selection. I had the El Jefe while downing a couple of awesome IPAs (I forgot which ones because that's what happens when you drink).
The only downside was that the service moved along at a snails pace even though the place was nowhere near capacity.
Overall I'm really impressed and yes, it's definitely worth the drive.
I'm struggling with how I can write this review without coming off like a raving fan too in love with the restaurant to be considered credible. Perhaps that disclaimer will have to do, because I LOVE goodfriend!
As a completely unbiased resident of the neighborhood, I'll start by saying the location is perfect! East Dallas has a lot going for it, but the opening of Good 2 Go Taco and goodfriend has really helped the area east of the lake secure it's place as an up-and-coming Dallas neighborhood. And, since others have complained about parking, I'll just point out that although there isn't much parking available in the lot, there's plenty on the streets nearby.
The beer selection at goodfriend is so good that even I have been converted. I used to mostly avoid beer, but goodfriend has a (always changing) selection of craft brews (including an assortment locals) that could turn almost anyone into a beer lover. And, now that they've added that orange sazerac to the whiskey cocktail list (yes, they have a special list of whiskey cocktails), my biggest problem is not getting too drunk to make it back to my home (just a mile away).
All this raving about a burger house and I haven't even talked about the food yet. I'm sure you'll be surprised to read that I think the food is fantastic. Every time we go (which is kind of a lot), we fight over which of the fried foods to order for the table. Although we like them all, everyone has a favorite. And, now that they've added fried pickles to the choice between waffle fries (better than Chick-fil-a... not that you'd ever catch me inside a Chick-fil-a), sweet potato fries (also waffle cut), and fried green beans (I'm beginning to think my wife might be right that these are the even better than the other fried options), we may just have to give up and order them all.
And, the burgers are great too. There are lots of creative combinations, and each of the ones I've tried is delicious. Of course, I always order mine with a veggie patty. They recently changed from a black bean patty to one made from "grains and butternut squash," and I really kinda wish both were on the menu, because they're each wonderful in their unique way and would each provide a totally different flavor profile when being substituted for the beef patty.
And, although (even as a vegetarian) I never thought I could bring myself to order salad for dinner at a burger place, once I tried the "Love and Rocket" salad (sans bacon), I conceded that splitting a burger and salad with my wife was a reasonable option.
Sadly, we're usually too full for dessert, and that is truly tragic, because their fried pies are amazing. They're always offering different flavors, so ask your server what the options are when you're there.
Went back for the menu-update edition, and was impressed with what was added...got some feedback about favorite additions (waitress suggested the meat loaf sandwhich), and I decided on the new chicken sammy (forget clever name) that has roasted pears, brie and arugula.
Interestingly, what I thought would be a relatively lively combination (in retrospect, not sure why) of flavors, turned out to be surprisingly bland. Â Maybe my tongue was pre-coated with the Lakewood IPA I was swishin', but was kinda under-whelmed. Â Additionally, I noticed that all menu prices have crept up nicely (the chicken sammy was 12 bones). Â I'm still biggest fan of the Mary Mary and Loretta; but before I go back to my 'roots', I do need to give that recommended meat loaf option a go!
All said and done: increased menu prices noticeable at tab-time: $70 for 2 adults, one kid, excluding tab. Â
No worries though, I'll manage my own expectations next time!
They food and drinks are GREAT !! Great Burgers and the Buffalo wings are the best. Â The only downside is they dont serve food till 4. Â Its a perfect place for Saturday Lunch but they dont have food till 4. Please change this. Burgers are the best in the area. I live int he area and its great to see some small good bars in my area.
Staff is top notch. Â If you want to see great bar service in action, this is the place.
Even though Goodfriend is great and not far from where I live, I don't go too often. Â It's very popular and sometimes it's hard to find a table or parking spot. Â Good for them, but I try to go during off times to avoid that. Â There are plenty of great burger places and bars in Dallas, so I don't feel the need to go through a hassle. Â If I lived walking distance, I'd probably go more often just to have a beer. Â It's also pricey for burgers, but you get what you pay for in quality. Â These are gourmet burgers.
Do not pass up the fantastic sweet potato waffle fries...salty, yes, but oh so delicious. Â I always get, or rather split, the Mary Mary, a lamb patty with brunuusto cheese, roasted tomatoes, and arugula. Â I tried the pepper bomb once and it was good, but I much prefer the Mary Mary. Â Franconia wheat is one of my favorite beers and it pairs well with the Mary Mary.
Good beer selection, although they need to update their menus. Â On a recent visit, they were out of or no longer carried several things on the menu. Â I know they write them on the chalkboard, but it's hard to see.
I like the rotating art on the walls, the open doors when the weather's nice, and usually they are playing great music. Â I haven't been when they've had live music, but I'm sure that's fun. Â I've seen kids here a few times, which I guess is OK, but it seems weird to bring kids or babies to a bar.
I always wait awhile to write the reviews for my favorite places. I like to let the excitement die down for accuracy purposes. I like to keep it judicious folks.
BEST BURGER IN DALLAS. Easily. Hands down. No competition. Trust me... I AM THE HAMBURGLAR. I've been to Liberty (over-rated). Hopdoddys is good. The Grape is good (too fancy.) Jakes is good. Village burger is good. All of these places are good, but GOODFRIEND is Great. I'll explain...
My ideal, simple, burger has one patty, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, ranch, and a nice soft, butter toasted bun... Goodfriend did not deliver. They gave me something else. Something off, what i like to call, The Lord's Grill.
(++) The FUNGUS AMOUNG US. A very simple burger w/ forest mushrooms, and a nice, rich slice of cheese (*rich in flavor.) I went this route, because it seemed simple, and lightly complimented, giving me the best angle to judge the s**t out of it. And judge i did! I judged it w/ a side of waffle fries, a little ranch, and an awesome frickin stout brew. Gahdam that was a good meal!! I know it was good, because i really wasnt very hungry when i walked in.
(-) I would normally say, the presentation was the only negative i could find, but when a meal is this good, they can make that call. the burger is laid on a aluminum sheet tray. if they want to serve the burger to you right on the bar... what do i care. just give it here! ...i'm getting hungry writing this review. Â ((*plug cheesy joke)) wish i had a Goodfriend right now.
Can't wait to go back.
FUNNY SIDE STORY: when i went, i was in the area w/ a friend who kept saying how hungry he was. I knew Goodfriend was close, so i made the suggestion because i had heard such good things about the place. i, know what i'm getting myself into, (an exceptionally good burger spot), he on the other hand was unaware. i played it down quite well, "oh yea, i hear there's a bar around here and the kitchens still open." Let me just say, seeing him be steadily, happily, surprised made the trip that much better. I dig introducing people to killer food.

Can I live here?
With not one, but TWO cider options at only $5 a glass, Goodfriend is an obvious choice for me. They also have a Pinot Noir on tap that's different than of Pinot but really tasty and served at the appropriate temperature- amen!
The Loretta burger is not to be missed. Blue cheese and a bacon-onion jam...need I say more? Other outstanding options are the sweet potato waffle fries, fried green beans, and the pulled pork nachos. I thought the chorizo burger was tasty, but was extremely rich and greasy, duh it's chorizo. I guess I just didn't expect the entire patty to be chorizo. No complaints here, though.
They also homemake fried pies in a variety of flavors: blackberry, apricot, vanilla, cherry, etc. I would come just for a fried pie alone.
With the exceptional yet laid back service, I truly feel like I could post up here for hours whether it's inside or on their chill patio..
Beer lovers listen up! This place has an amazing range of beers from microbrews in the area and around the country. The last time I came they had all 11 years of Stone Brewery's (CA) seasonal brews, 2003-2012, as an affordable beer flight! The service is always on top, the servers don't roll their eyes when you take a long time to decide upon which of the several dozens of beers you want, and they make great suggestions if you're finicky. The patio area is the only place I'll ever sit...they have great setting arrangements, with both patio tables and long bar seating.
The one, only one!, thing that I am disappointed by are the burgers here. I've tried several different kinds, and my impression from all of them was that the patty was pretty hard and tough, the burger is small, and the ornaments on the burgers sometimes don't go well together. However, the other sharable dishes, like the nachos and wings, are pretty great!
I love the newest kid on the East Dallas block, Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House. Matt Tobin, the owner of Vickery Park, and Josh Yingling, the bearded bar wrangler and manager, are the duo behind the vision.
The crowd is always consists of some of the usual characters from the Henderson block, a mix of the Lakewood crowd, beer enthusiasts, fashionable tastemakers, Uptown wanderers and some furry four-legged friends. Â Not to mention, this spot is family friendly, as you'll see some of the most adorable pint-sized tykes.
The expansive space features a Texas-sized horseshoe shaped bar that leaves ample elbowroom, so you won't waste anytime ordering up a drink and can get straight to the conversation. A massive tap system is filled with lots of local Dallas breweries and an unique mix of beers that pack a flavorful and IPA punch. If beer isn't your thing, because it's definitely not mine, I usually opt for anything off the Whiskey Cocktail menu - my favorite being the South Side Brooklyn Fizz. Â Shots of Jameson with a pickle back are always flowing, so amp up that liver for some serious drinking if you're in the mood.
Huge garage doors are drawn up to bring in the sunlight for partygoers to bask in and provides easy access to the patio. The sprawling patio features cedar trellises, so princesses like me will no longer be drowning in our own sweat in the hot TX Summer. A personal favorite décor highlight is the gorgeous reclaimed wooden doors that welcome visitors with diamond shaped detailing.
The good energy, endless possibilities and the cute tatted eye candy keeps me coming back.
While it's off the beaten path of the normal Uptown bubble, that's the essence of what makes the up and coming area revival of Casa Linda, East Dallas, and Lakewood exciting, vibrant, and filled with much personality and creativity. Many can see why entrepreneurs are flocking to the neighborhood for future expansions, as it has a laid back Austin feel with a Big D twist.
Start whetting your palate for Adult Happy Meals, think damn good naturally grass fed burgers and fries while washing it down with a perfectly paired cold craft beer. If that didn't already bring a childlike smile to your face, the addition of Kool-Aid on the menu definitely will.
Recommendations:
Drinks: Ask the fiery redhead, TIffany - as she is a pro with pairing your palate with a great beer. Â Mike, the bar manager will whip up any cocktail, but I say try your hand at a South Side Brooklyn Fizz.
Veggie Lovers - Love & Rockets salad, Veg Head Burger
Chicken Lovers - Order the Wing Man ASAP (as spicy as you can handle), but skip the Bye Bye Birdie, unless you love a lot of batter
Burger Babes - P.L.O.T., Loretta (hello onion bacon jam?!) and the Latin Lover (chorizo goodness!)
Sides - Grab the waffle fries and the fried green beans and make sure you get extra ranch and sriracha ketchup!
Went into Goodfriend not really expecting much and was totally impressed. The appetizers were great, the hamburgers looked fantastic, and my hot dog was DELISH.
Our waitress was very on top of things, made sure we had full glasses of water and even recommended beers. Plus her knowledge of the menu was tremendous!
If I were a Dallas native, I'd be back in a heartbeat!
