I'm doing it.  I'm upgrading GP to a five star.  Now, I have to say there are some caveats here.  First, you need to make sure that you get the right waiter.  May I recommend Joe?  Then, since the water hasn't changed, you may want to order something to drink.

But, we had a wonderful experience on our last visit on 2/2/13.  Our service was excellent and Joe, while not exactly hovering, was VERY attentive.  Dirnks and food were brought in an appropriate amount of time and the food was fantastic.  Since I didn't care for the caprese last time, this time I went with lobster bisque and it was very good.  I also had the filet and lobster for dinner and the lobster tail was quite large and the steak was OH MY GOD... it was so tender, you could cut it with the side of your fork, just delicious and cooked perfectly.

My parents shared the halibut with lobster on top and said it was wonderful and the husband had a different steak and since he orders his burnt... I mean medium well, they butterflied it and he was very happy with it.  Overall, the meal was wonderful, service was wonderful and in our case, the price was right because it was a comp.  I wouldn't probably enjoy it quite so much if we'd had to pay for it since my steak and lobster alone was $54!    Ah, but it was a good night, but I was soooooo full.

Still would like to see them do something about that not good tasting water since I like to drink water with my meal, but otherwise, EAT HERE! Make reservations and get a cozy booth for two because the tables here are pretty small, so I don't recommend doing a group thing.

Craftsteak this is not, but it's better than Sizzler. Primm may be a lowbrow Vegas, but sometimes you want to eat like a high roller. Well, GP's may be your best bet (at least in a Terrible's resort). First things first, I always befriend the servers and also judge a place based on the competence of the servers. I like honesty. I also like servers that will give their opinion on a dish or at least have some sense of the menu. When I'm paying a hefty price tag for food I don't want to make the mistake of ordering the wrong thing. I knew I was in the mood for steak and Carlos, our server, helped guide me through the various cuts of meat until I found one I wanted. His charm and sense of humor kept the night interesting. He even steered my boyfriend away from ordering something that might not be the freshest that evening. This is always appreciated! The oysters Rockefeller were old school and flaming. Everything came in huge portions, so I felt like I was getting my money's worth. The decor was dated and the huge wine bottles are a bit cliche, but GP's food wasn't too bad. I just wouldn't eat here if you are in a hurry. It's definitely a meal to be enjoyed most when you are relaxed with no place to be.

The woman who poured our beverages was quiet, but kept them flowing. The meal was filling and the service was with a smile. Free sorbet at the end just made the night even better. GP's is probably your best option if you want something resembling real food at this hotel. Avoid their buffet and cough up the extra bucks for GP's.

I've stopped specifically to eat at this fine restaurant. This would be my 3rd time stopping on my way home from Las Vegas. I love this steak house. I've eaten at the more expensive restaurants on the strip and in L.A. and still, I prefer to stop at GP's on my way home.

As the other reviews note, the ambiance is that of old world class and it gets pretty crowded, thus, the service is a little slow but still very friendly, professional and hospitable. The steaks are cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, the sides are tasty as well. I had the shrimp cocktail and they were the biggest jumbo shrimps I've ever had, fresh and very filling.

GP's is the only reason to stop at the state line. This is a great romantic spot for couples to enjoy their time alone as they wait for their exceptional dinner. In a group setting, you'll lose the intention of this fine establishment.

In conclusion: I am only rating GP's and not the buffet nor the hotel.

For Primm, this is the best Steakhouse (the only one) LOL!  I tagged along with my husband for their annual Tri-Valley State tradeshow.  I joined them for dinner, and I must say that this place actually reminded me of House of Prime Rib with its gorgeous decor of hardwood mahogany walls.  Hard to believe it's in the middle of no man's land.  Their lobster bisque was divine!  Steaks were juicy and full of flavor, cooked to perfection.  Wide selection of wines to choose from.  I gave it 3 stars due to the initial wait despite our reservation.  Their hostess must understand the word "reservation" and not overbook tables.  We had to wait for them to clear up a table for 6, not cool.

I went there today 3 hours ago.Had lobster, salad, and rice pilaf and since I got home I been having an epic case of the runs! Food tasted mediocre. Salad was kind of limp and not fresh but I was hungry and decided not to be picky..NEVER AGAIN!! Thanks a lot for my bad case of the runs.NOT!

I got roped into a living social deal at the hotel (wish I hadn't purchased but oh well) and it included a $50 credit to this restaurant.  It was pretty nice, great food and sides.  The feel of this restaurant is definitely fine dining.  I had the lobster bisque and my bf had the steak.  Both were excellent.  This was the best part of our two day stay at the state line.

Unfortunately I will never again stay at the state line which means I will never return to this restaurant.  But if I ever break down there or am tricked into staying at one of the hotels, I will surely be back.

Overpriced. Good food including tasty appetizers, salads, steaks and fish. Desserts just OK, namely the chocolate cake and tiramisu. Slow service all around, but especially one specific bar tender who seemed to do everything possible to avoid making eye contact with me and my date.

Went here with a $50 voucher for "food only". Had reservations and were seated right away. It was Sunday night, and the restaurant was fairly full. Service was good; we did not have to wait long for anything. The two of us split the butterleaf salad, the french onion soup, and the large prime rib with a baked potato. We ordered a side of asparagus that never came, but our server provided a free dessert instead (and we were already full, so not a big deal). The food was good but not fantastic. No flaming french-onion soup  :-(  The dessert we got was the walnut cheesecake. It was okay.

Maybe I'm being a little too generous with 4 stars. Maybe 3 or 3.5 would be more accurate, but this is a hotel in Primm Valley, NOT Las Vegas, and my expectations were firmly along those lines. These aren't "fine dining" restaurants in luxurious hotels. This is a kitschy little stop on the way between LA and Vegas for a quick, cheap get-away when you've had enough of the over-priced strip.

There aren't that many dining options to start with in Primm. Tony Roma's is solid as a chain restaurant, but even this one had more of the feeling of an Applebee's than the others I've visited. For the money, I thought I'd give a shot at what passes for the higher-end option: GP's Steakhouse at the Primm Valley Hotel and Resort.

It has all the intention of being a fine-dining establishment, but you can only go so far when most of the clientele are wearing flip-flops and t-shirts. The room is quiet and low-key with only the faintest hint of noise from the slots just outside.

The menu is full of old-school steakhouse classics: filet, Porterhouse, strip, ribeye as well as a couple of seafood options and the chef's "Oscars" which are meats topped with crab, asparagus and Bernaise sauce. Sides are what you would expect: potato and rice options, creamed spinach, Caesar salad, escargots, French onion soup, etc.

The real standout for me was the service. Our waiter, Carlos, turned what could have been a minefield of mediocrity into something more entertaining and more memorable. The number one rule at any restaurant should be to befriend your server. From there, all you have to do is ask good questions. Carlos was funny, attentive and, above all, honest. If I was vacillating between two dishes, he knew exactly when one item was fresh and another wasn't. If the menu wasn't totally up-front about preparation or quality, Carlos knew, in specific terms, where an item was from, what it looked like, how it was prepared and how good it would be on my plate.

At his suggestion, I ordered the Oysters Rockefeller (see... old-school...) and the chef's special for the night, grilled Halibut.

The oysters weren't as good as maybe what I would get in the French Quarter, but this was in the middle of the desert. This hit all the right notes though with plump, briny oysters and that great combination of bacon, cream, spinach and a little bubbly cheese on top. The dish comes sprinkled with a little brandy that has been set alight. Another great old-school touch, and not the only dish on the menu that comes out on fire.

My halibut was really exceptional: absolutely nothing wrong with the quality or preparation of the fish as it sat on top of a light mix of artichoke hearts and cherry tomatoes with a little garlic butter for flavor. The dish already came with a delicious little sweet-potato croquette, and the garlic mashed-potatoes were rendered almost unnecessary by it. The gravy on those potatoes was one of the only things that seemed like it just came from a jar rather than being whipped up by a chef. The side of pesto(ish) sauce for the fish was tasty but also nearly unnecessary. They had the good sense to segregate that into a little serving bowl rather than douse the Halibut.

All in all, it was a meal that would have cost twice the price another 40 miles down the road. I've had better, and I'm dead certain I've had worse. Given the choice of restaurants, I'd return to GP's if I'm in the area, and I'd certainly request the same waiter.

Decided to play golf at Primm Valley so arranged for a stay and play in Primm.  They plan had us overnighting at Buffalo Bill's Casino and the less I say about that place the better.  At any rate...the clerk at Bill's told us that GP's was a good steakhouse and with limited options (fast food) we decided to try it.
We got there about 8pm on a Wednesday night and while it was crowded, there were tables.   Definitely try the upscale routine with plates removed immediately upon seating and a nicely set table.  The soft white bread gives away the pedigree.  That said, our dinner was A-OK.  There were three of us....one of my colleagues went for a french onion soup and blue cheese wedge salad...while my other colleague had the lamb chops and I opted for the small (ha!) prime rib.  As we had been eating like pigs in Vegas for four days, we weren't doing apps. The food was surprisingly good...my prime rib was prepared exactly as requested (medium rare) and came with zuchini and peppers along with a baked potato.  The french onion soup came out flambe...with flames nearly reaching the ceiling.  The waiter asked my friend if he had any marshmallows when he came to the table.
We finished with a huge piece of NY cheesecake that we shared.  As for alcohol....we martinis, red wine and a bloody mary.  All well prepared and amply sized.  Total bill (not including tip) was $120 for the three of us.
So...we liked it.  I don't know if our expectations were low...but it was a good meal, fairly priced and decently served.  I did order a side of creamed spinach and the waiter forgot about.  He apologized profusely when I mentioned it....and we had too much to eat, anyway.

I've been here before with my sisters and their husbands for my dads birthday. There were about 12 of us in the party and was waited on hand and foot . The service and food was excellent. Went to stateline with my wife on a spur of a moment thing and went to this place for dinner. Totally different experience. We did not have reservations but on a Wednesday nite at stateline we really didn't need one. Maybe 6 couples in the restaurant. They sat us down promptly, but then the wait...... 10 minutes.... 15 minutes... nice lady comes by, "Have you been helped?" she asked. No, "O.k." she said and disappeared.....5 minutes.... 10 minutes then a nice elderly man asked "Have you been helped?" We said no and he took our drink order. Since we brought our own wine, he opened it quickly. My wife ordered the petite filet with demi glace and I ordered the rib eye. 5 minutes... 10 minutes.... 15 minutes.... 20 minutes.....25 minutes...nice elderly man comes by, food is coming up.....5 minutes.... well, you get the idea. We got our food and of course the veggies are not warm and the garlic mashed potatoes are cold . The steak is cooked perfectly but a little cold. Overall the food tasted good which is why I gave it three stars but a sense of urgency would be nice.

Dined with a party of four and expected more. Meat dishes were fine except for the thinnest Sirloin steak we all had ever seen. Well marbled, the steak was 1/3 fat.
The "rack" of lamb (four chops) was decent as were the soft shell crabs.
The included mixed veggies were all served luke warm to cold.
Though staffing was plenty, service was mediocre at best.
With a mid-level priced bottle of wine, the total bill was just shy of $200. Not a warranted price for the quality of food and service received.
