This place is awesome! I tour around on an old BMW motorcycle in the north east and was referred to Newburgh by a fellow biker I met in Peekskill. Comfortable atmosphere, fresh seafood, and cold beer. The staff is friendly and you can't beat the view. The place is actually a boat harbored on the hudson.

Gully's is a fun place to hang out and have a beer during the summer. It's a floating barge on the Hudson, open-air and bar food, cold beer and boats. Nothing fancy but a nice place to spend some time. I prefer it during the day only because at night when it can get busy the bar service has been slow.
Review Source:Gully's is the first restaurant on the Newburgh waterfront, put there years ago. Â It's actually a restaurant and bar on an old boat, and it's a good place. Â I understand that, in the past few years, and number of people eating there has declined with the opening of the other, fancier restaurants on the Waterfront. Â Still, Gully's has a lot those places lack (though I like them, too).
First, the restaurant - it's not a fancy place. Â Burgers, sandwiches, fries, some other stuff. Â But you're not coming here for a fancy dinner. Â You are coming for a laid back, relaxed atmosphere, filling food, and view of the water. Â Prices, while not as cheap as you might expect, are not too bad. Â Kids are welcome down here for the food...
However, upstairs is all bar. Â Sometimes a nightclub of sorts. Â The "deck" of the Gully's boat has been converted into a club area with a bar in the center with seating and standing room all around. Â At the front, a live band often plays (more on that later) and one can walk further out to the very front, outside the cover, one can sit, and even smoke.
The beer is plentiful, and, though not a wide selection, it's pretty inexpensive. Â Mixed drinks are available, too, though I would keep them simple (Jack & Â Coke, etc...).
All types of people go here. Â Younger, older, and those in between. Â Some come from dinner at the fancier restaurants, and others come here directly, so dress varies. Â There will even be a few bikers here, I bet. Â People are friendly - even more than friendly when they've had a few (or a few too many) drinks.
Dancing may occur if the band is decent, and often the mic will get passed around by the band (or the singer may wander the bar). Â Bands are hit or miss, I think, but even on bad band nights everyone seems to have a good time.
This would not usually be my kind of bar, and it is sort of a dive bar, but I really have a good time when I go here. Â Just don't expect a velvet roped club in Manhattan - who wants that, and besides, those places have a cover, a dress code, and an A-list. Â None of those things here.
