I had never taken a cooking class before, although I've wanted to learn to cook my favorite Indian dishes forever. Excellent class, wonderful teacher, and delicious results. I've tried in the past to learn Indian cooking from a cookbook recipe, but it never ended well. As we learned about the spices and prepared the dishes, we also learned how flavors are layered into the dishes and the needed techniques. I found myself going "a-ha" mentally, as I saw the points where cookbooks don't give the whole picture. Even better, I feel like I left the class with a good beginning grasp of the foundational concepts for the cuisine. I was able to see how minor changes in ingredients or spices would result in a different, equally tasty dish.
Review Source:I've been wanting to take a cooking class for some time, but as I am a vegetarian, my options are limited. So, I was really excited when a friend told me about Haneeda's Kitchen because she offers not just one, but TWO vegetarian cooking class options!
The class was a lot of fun. I learned how to prepare a dal, a paneer dish, rice & peas, roti (Indian flatbread) and mango lassi. Along the way I learned a ton of valuable tips and tricks- Haneeda really knows how to demystify things and explain concepts clearly.
I highly recommend the cooking classes offered by Haneeda and hope to sign up for another one soon!
