It hit me one night, out of the blue. I NEED GNOCCHI AND I GNEED GNOCCHI GNOW. So, after a brief round of Yelp consultation, I headed to the nearest place that had gnocchi mentioned in its reviews. La Porta is very cute inside--definitely a rustic feel with, you guessed it, doors all around. I started with a Riesling, which was absolutely scrumptious. They provided bread, which was good enough, since I was starving. (Some other customer jerkily complained about it to the server after their meal was over, which I thought was pretty dumb. It was bread. It was good.) I ordered the gnocche (duh), and my companion got the Margherita pizza. My gnocche was good, if a tiny bit too salty. I just wish it had come with something else. I mean, I love my gnocche, but a whole plate of it was somehow anticlimactic. Â His pizza was good, but nothing to write home about. What marred the experience was that our waiter pretty much ignored us most of the time and then didn't even say goodbye, good night, etc. at the end of the night. He and the other waiter started moving the tables around as if to remind everyone that they were closing (in another half hour or so.) So, maybe I'll try it again another time, but maybe there are other places to get my gnocche fix...uh, fixed.
Review Source:Wow! Â Unexpected gem in Media with great food and service. Â We had a memorial gathering for my mother and a group of 15 needed a place for lunch. Â They could not have been more accommodating or provided a better experience. Â Great, friendly service and every dish was delicious. Â We had a chance to try many different dishes and not a miss among them.
Fig Bruschetta, Liveracce, Tuscan Fries, Rocket Pizza, Salmon Salad and pork sandwich we're stand-out dishes but you cannot go wrong here.
Full bar, great wine selection, and really charming decor and ambiance round things out.
