Han's Place

Hans's Place (as it reads on the exterior of the building) is a little neighborhood tavern on South Tacoma Way which is apparently known for its fried chicken.  

I stopped in for some of this famous fried chicken (and beer) recently.  I thought it was OK but nothing exceptional: four pieces of very greasy (as fried chicken should be) chicken with four plump, bland, and almost mushy jo-jos for $9.  According to the menu its a better deal at $7.50 on Wednesdays, unless you come in on the wrong Wednesday and tacos are on special instead.

There isn't much of a selection of beer on tap-- just the usual Bud/Miller/Coors swill plus Mac & Jacks African Amber.  I'm not sure what all they have in bottles, but they do carry tall boys of PBR!  There are two pool tables, a jukebox, and TVs for entertainment.

Nice little neighborhood type bar. Clean place, friendly people, great music on the jukebox. Two pool tables. Friendly staff.

The best thing though is their chicken and jos. Oh my...so delicious. You get four pieces of fried chicken (breast, thigh, leg, wing) and four gigantic jojos (biggest jojos I've ever seen). Get it with sour cream and ranch on the side to dip the jos in. The chicken has a great seasoning and crust and is really juicy on the inside. You get all this for only $8.50.

There's plenty of parking in the back, and you can enter through the back door. We'll definitely be back again. We had fun playing pool and really enjoyed their chicken and jos.
